Kushiel's Debut

Hi guys!
I come and visit this thread every once in a while, and I've seen the concerns about Custodius, though I don't believe I have ever come across the person on this game or another. I can tell you I mentioned the worries to Skaldia, and we're aware there's concern that someone with a reputation for messing with games/players/etc will (or already has?) take an interest in KD's sudden surge and come around to try to do some damage. We're not going to pounce on someone for using a name that could belong to someone that sucks, it could be some poor new player who picked that name from a list of generic French/old fashioned/whatever names.
But please, if someone is being nasty or manipulative to you OOCly, log it and send it to staff. If there is unkind, sketchy, suspicious behavior that isn't cool and is ruining your experience, don't wait, let us know. Whether it is this particular person or anyone else, let us know. We enjoy that 97% of the time, KD is an -exceptionally- laid back place to play, free from unnecessary drama that is between players instead of the entertaining drama that is between characters. We are just as interested in maintaining that as you are. Tell us what's up, and we'll do everything we can to make sure that we do.

As far as I am aware, Custodius has actually been on staff on Kushiel's Debut before, some years ago, but was kicked off after he tried to twist the theme into something else and conduct his usual bullshit? I forget the precise details but do remember him complaining about it elseMU* then popping in and reading the 'We got rid of him, yay!' post on the game.
-
Custodius is of the "'No' means you didn't use enough rohypnol" persuasion when it comes to welcome. The fact that he was once staff and was booted does not preclude an "incognito" (wink, wink) return.
-
It is possible I can guess at who you might be talking about (based on events that happened a good 4 or 5 years ago, way before I was on the game). I would suggest doing what you can not to worry about it. No one is going to be added to the staff so that they can enjoy causing grief, and having 'staffed here before' when the game was run by entirely different people in an entirely different way doesn't add to credentials to convince us to make a bigger team. Causing OOC trouble for players who don't want it on KD is difficult for the reasons I stated in the above post...just communicate with the staff if someone is being manipulative or ugly towards you, if the dramatics on your screen are not part of a storyline but something real and unpleasant, and we'll see that it is handled swiftly and thoroughly. The desire for a comfortable and stress-free environment is a mutual one we share with our player base.

This has been brought up by more than one person I've spoken to about the game so I guess it's fair enough to go ahead and ask.
Is it easier to find roleplay as a male/playing a male character on KD?
-
@Arkandel As opposed to...?
A male playing a female?
A female playing a male?
A female playing a female?I only play guys and haven't had any trouble finding RP when I want it. I'm not sure what gender the player is has on anything though. Who's to know unless you tell them?
-
I commented a couple of times exactly what you're saying, that people are quite friendly and I get offers to RP all the time (mind you, not only from female characters).
I was told it's because I'm a guy - so I'm wondering if there's any truth to it.

I recently started playing as an invite by another player. I've gotten pages every day with someone new wanting to rp. All Female. I've also been propositioned once or twice which was a first for me. It's not a bad place, everyone is nice and yea.. No want for friendly folks and offer's of rp. I've only played a male though, to be fair.

Ah. So you're wondering if female PCs get less RP. Interesting. It goes against the common stereotype that females get all the guys hitting on them.
If so, I never noticed on +where.

I've always found it depends on the game's genre. Certain games have way more women than men, and it flips the usual assumptions we have re: nerdy gaming spaces on its head. World of Darkness, for instance, is for some reason White Wolf's lady RPG.
I've never read Kushiel's Legacy and only just googled it, but my first impression would definitely go with "yeah, this is probably more popular with women".
edit: okay I read more summaries. My takeaway is "it's France, but the nobility have the blood of angels and everyone fucks. yay hookers".
This is definitely a chick setting.

And people can literally smell like fruit. I.e. Some smell like apples when upset.

Well now I want to play just so I can fill my poses with fruit and fruit-related words.
pose mutters, his face darkening as he radiates watermelon rage

Just to weigh in.. I've not really noticed either way on whether females or males get more attention. Mind, I also tend to avoid scenes with more than a handful of people.
Ya'll can prod at me to RP when I'm connected. Corinne, Danette, or Zacharie are me.
-
@icanbeyourmuse You may not have noticed, but you know the answer.
-
I've had both genders, and have had no trouble on either. I haven't really noticed any sort of lack on any of my female characters, that's for sure.

But are your female characters curvaceous and scantily clad? Might you be kind enough to grace us with a picture or a +desc?

So check this out: I'mma do a flash review of your characters. I couldn't find Zacharie, but I found the first two on the Wiki.

@Cirno Now you're just trolling.
News at eleven.
-
@Cirno 'descriptions' doesn't always equal oodles of RP. And an FYI I play what appeals to /me/. I have a policy, from my World of Warcraft days, of how I CG. If I gotta look at it's ass it's gonna be good looking.
And to note, the descriptions are3 done to fit with /theme/ as in the books and the game it seems the people of the world are all very good looking. Even the 'average Joes.'
I don't TS all the things, regardless of how I word my descs so for getting loads of attention I utterly fail. No matter how 'sexy' my descs or Played Bys are my lack of interest in opening my legs for anyone who asks is not as inviting.
Danette is a bitch.
Corinne is a flakey ass little thing who holds grudges.
Neither appeal to people outside their looks.
