No one is freaking out. People are discussing apologies and the impetus thereof. No, it isn't about you. I know that can be disappointing.

...by all means, man. You are more than welcome to the center stage; I could use the night to breathe for a few seconds before the next round of private discussions and cringing into my skin as people use this thread for, uh, not what I intended it to be.
By which I mean: if this means I can take tonight 'off' to get completely shit-faced on vodka and pass out/insomnia-slog through something binge-watchable and resume discussions in the morning as calmly as I can manage?

@surreality I have no problem with you in general but I do wish, for your health and well-being, that you did not get as involved in the... more dubious social aspects of this hobby. The backbiting and rumormongering and stuff that other folks do may just be venting to them but you seem to be more negatively impacted by it than others when you are exposed to it.

@admiral I don't disagree with you at all about this.
I really don't want to know these kinds of things about the people I play with -- barring someone giving me a heads-up re: 'that person is a well-known creeper, be careful'.
I am especially not ever wanting to know about someone's RL dramas or traumas unless a friend needs me for a sounding board, about their own issue. I feel quite uncomfortable when hearing these things about third parties, and I do have massive regrets re: not telling anyone who has disclosed these kinds of things to me to stop. I should have, it was wrong of me to not do that, and I'm preparing a 'please stop right there, this is not my business and I don't want to hear this' monologue or macro or something in case it should ever come up again.

Surreality felt bad after she learned that the things she thought about people weren't true, and went on to apologize publicly.
People responded, as they do on boards.
At first it was a mix of support but mellowed out into a frantic, "What the heck happened?" It didn't take too long for people to out what the heck happened. Some calls for administrative correction of the underlying issue. Etc. etc.
Everything since then is just community chit-chat. Like a near 100% of the threads on this board it's nowhere near its initial purpose. It's a thing we do. You probably got the gist on page one.
How do people decide how much text is a "page" anyway? Soapbox has always been infinite scroll for me.
