RE: Apology to Darinelle
It does warrant a public apology.
The thread did more than just insult Puffin. It created the illusion of a conflict ridden environment where a generality of "people" are upset. In reality I bet it's only one or two.
But that illusion that it's some silent mass of people can really mess with someone's head and affect future endeavors to the detriment of the majority of players who don't, and never have, felt that way. And by taking the criticisms public instead of having the guts to deal with it one-on-one, in private, now some players might wonder that while they're having fun, is the person next to them having fun or are they one of "the ones"?
Honesty I see no reason to have put Puffin on blast in the first place unless you were hoping to get tons o' upvotes or some sort of validation from the community. "Going public" is brave when it speaks to unfightable corruption and power, but is cowardice when it's done to avoid private confrontation and I just saw it as an effort to try and create the very "upsets" you claim already existed with "people" so you might see the change you, and you alone, hope for.
So a public apology is warranted to address the bigger issue of having wove a hostile climate by hiding the identity of accusers and being general and non-specific in claims. In the end, what was done wasn't just "make Puffin feel bad", and the impassioned responses from people who aren't Puffin proves that.
That being said: I have never been in a GM scene with Puffin, but I have gotten off screen action responses. They have always been creative, detailed and always provided me material to work with. Even when a I was brand new and didn't put in any expectations or much detail in terms of what my character was trying to do or why. I am sure it was frustrating to work with such scant detail and a pretty awful grasp of story from a newbie at that time and yet I always got something awesome. I think it's clear enough how much effort she really does put in to telling a story and trying to make sure everyone has a great time and so other players will take offense at anything threatening that.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
My dudes and dudettes:
If I do ALL THE COOKING then I should not also have to do the dishes.
The exception is if I do gratuitous baking. But even then: thou shalt not be allowed a slice of cheesecake if thou doesth not place thine dishes IN THE FUCKING DISHWASHER!

RE: Learning how to apply appropriate boundaries
I think suspicion alone that another player wants a scene or interaction to result in something you are uncomfortable with is enough to speak on it. I had a player once tell me "this is not going to lead to sexy times" right out the gate. I wasn't wanting or looking for that and told them so. I appreciated them sharing their concerns because then I knew we could do the scene without any awkwardness, anxiety or hidden suspicions.
So, yeah, whenever you even have a hint that 'A' might go to 'B', and you don't like B, you should speak up on it. I don't think anyone worth spending time with would take offense and, on the contrary, should appreciate your candor.

RE: Getting started on Arx?
@curious1 Like most any place it is going to be what you make it.
RP on grid is pretty regular, even for your SR 8 farmer. There is an XP incentive for even the nobliest of nobles to RP with you for at least a couple weeks. It's a good chance to make connections and get regular RP friends.
I suggest taking a look at the "Wanted Concepts" board and see what rosters are in demand if you're concerned about getting meaningful RP out the gate.

RE: Quotable Quotes
I crack myself up all the time but when you put me on the spot like this I can't think of anything
I'll go with this incident report from Notion to ICly explain someone's ban from the game:
On stardate 452484.555 (like, four days ago), Cadet S'ra was given an assignment related to stabilizing our warp capable drive that we may maintain a max cruising speed for the duration of our flight.
For whatever reason, she went ahead and began conducted temperature testing in and around the impulse drive. Her methods, as reported by NCOs working in the area, were unorthodox and consisted of "a lot of crawling and laying on things" - as reported by Chief Petty Office Cromwell (Impulse Section I/C).
After Cadet S'ra had gone missing for 48 hours, I decided to ask Ursula (the ship's computer) for her location. Ursula reported Cadet S'ra was in the ventral impulse exhaust.
Security footage verified that, between shifts, Cadet S'ra had indeed snuck into ventral exhaust to "climb and lay on something". She apparently had not read the routine maintenance schedule I passed out to ALL CREW (it's only 50 pages long, people. honestly).
Long story short, we flush that exhaust pipe every 72 hours on a rotation.
The plus side is CPO Cromwell now knows what has been making that rattling and banging sound, and why impulse has smelt of a sulfurous odor.
There will be a memorial service for Cadet S'ra tomorrow at lunch (but it is no excuse to miss muster) where we will eject what's left of her bones into space.

Me: A sodastream? wtf is this crap. Worst gift ever. It's the thought that counts /I guess/.
Me (later that day): 3 liters of sodastream should be enough for one day right? Haha. Jk. I'm making another one. God I really need to pee
(Fucking love my sodastream)
I've been wanting one of these for ages. I love carbonated drinks but I know soda is bad for me....but not cuz of the carbonation. And most of the flavored water shit is twice to three times as expensive!
I lurv it! And already been looking at how to pimp that ride, nahmean? Talking bout that 20 lbs food grade CO2 for 40 bucks at the local Air gas supplier and a little adapter to the sodastream
