Non-WoD
-
Okay, I'm looking for a non-WoD game. I'm not really into Game of THrones games either. I just need something different that isn't a sex game or WoD. Advertisement seems the best place since nothing else fits. Anyone got any suggestions?
-
I don't play on any of these places, but...
Multiverse Crisis has a large playerbase and is a multi-theme game. Here's the address: multiversemush.com 5001
Alternately, there's Tenebrae (which is Pathfinder -- fantasy, if you're not familiar) that looks like it's got about 30 logins at 6 pm PST two days before a holiday, so that's promising. Here's the address: tenebraemush.net 4001
And a Marvel/DC superhero game called HeroMux: heromux.com 9999
Also, if you strip away the port numbers, that'll take you to each game's wiki/website.

I think I looked at all three of those and didn't find them appealing.
-
There's always Shadowrun: Denver (denver.aelfhame.net 1999)...
-
There's Road to Amber, which frankly isn't very Amber anymore.
-
If you like Dresdenverse Dark Spires is quite good. Nice and helpful players, cool staff. Little tolerance for drahmaz. But it does run FATE which some folks don't like
-
I don't understand. All games are WoD games.
-
-
People Don't Like Things They Aren't Used To (TM).
-
My trying to explain Fate to @Cobaltasaurus was amusing. That she now wants to run it is ironic.
-
@Usekh I don't know anything about either of those. Are either hard to learn?
-
@Thenomain ...maybe, but @JinShei and I spent a while talking about it too. Poor girl's gettin it from all sides.
-
@icanbeyourmuse Hmm hard question to answer as to a degree it does depend on the individual. FATE by itself is not too hard, one you grasp Aspects etc, but some of the supernatural stuffs, Magic especially gets trickier. But there as some nice guides on the page, and plenty of helpful folks.
As regards to the Dresdenverse. Long series of books, that IMHO are worth reading. Again lots of helpful people and starting as a vanilla mortal is viable. Lots of good reasons to be in Oxford.

They strong armed me Theno. :U
Want is way too strong of a word. The correct terminology is "no longer violently opposed but neutral".

People always get stuck on Aspects, while Aspects are bar none the single most compelling reason to play Fate.
My name is Cobalt and I take the aspect Artistic Firebug. I get to re-roll failed attempts that have to do with fire! I get bonus points when I succumb to my love of fire!
How is this not non-stop awesome? The rules are still written in a way that's not trivial to grasp, but this one, right there, is the key to almost all of them.
-
I could not agree more Thenomain. To me they are what makes the game Encourage failing in fun ways to advance the story, or at least to take risks. And fun to write up

And the lovely Exeter from DS explained it to her so she is giving it a go Fair play, it is hard to risk a new system so...

This doesn't take away from it being something not everyone can grasp, or even likes.

I might actually like FAE. I haven't decided. I also haven't actually played anything in it yet. But, uh, maybe soon. Homework has killed me this week so has stopped me from finishing up things.
