Ban on amputees is far more socially dangerous than a temporary restriction on former pro wrestlers given the current social climate of both mushing and the world alone.
Further, a character's nature (being an amputee) and their concept (former pro-wrestler) are very different animals. Banning concepts is usually fine, if sometimes side-eyed. Banning nature is... rarely done, except that superhero game that banned straight dudes.

@Tinuviel oh, man I remember Fights n' Tights. Never played there, but I remember hearing about the ban.
Though I'm not sure how I feel about a ban on straight guys on a gay-focused game TBH. I can totally get not wanting your gay bar being taken over by Toby Keith/5 Finger Death Punch straight dudes, or having every 3rd scene be an R.E.M. Losing my Religion scenario. I always feel a little guilty when my SO and I get dragged to a gay bar and she leaves me for 10 minutes to come back to see me getting hit on and I have to explain I'm not on the market. I was a male standing alone in a gay bar. It was fucking plausible.
Sometimes ya just want a bunch of guys that all want the same thing in one place. I get that. Though, now that I've written this I'm thinking about the saying that "if the reverse of something is wrong, then it's usually wrong both ways". I mean, no one barred me (a breeder male) and my non-gay-male SO from going to a gay bar. So, straights-not-allowed is really technically and spiritually no different than gays-not-allowed.
Sigh. Life is confusing and complicated. Love the complexity some of the time. The rest, I can totally get why people have social anxiety.

I think the general assumption of people being shitty is somewhat telling of some of these mentalities, to be honest. People are very willing to suddenly believe that everyone is bigoted or ugly before asking for clarification.
I honestly didn't see anyone assume anything untoward about the policy-makers. There was just discussion of the policy itself. And it wasn't like a building wave of rhetoric in opposition to a counterpoint, it was people chiming in with feelings and opinions about the thing under discussion. I actually saw people more than once say they didn't feel it was malicious, just that the policy itself gave them weird feelings, which is more than fair.
These are very different things. MSB does enough actual dogpiling and conflation of opinions with people's identities as it is, it probably doesn't need people to assume that's happening when it's (for once) actually not.

I assume they're at best inept and at worst morons. -

@BobGoblin CAAAAROL. CAAAAROL.

@Tinuviel Fair enough! Amended to, 'it doesn't seem to be the general assumption.' Including 'anti-sensitivity bias' and whatever else was said, since we're nitpicking specifics.
But, anyway, fwiw, I agree with you on the lack of wisdom involved, whatever the reason for it.

Feel your feelings! But at the end of the day, staff/storytellers are the custodians of the world and the story, and if they want to put a limit on the # of amputees, I figure it's because they have a high level overview and don't want new players coming in to be like "whoah, is this game haunted by npc goblins who come at night and consume limbs?"

Maybe it is and that plot just hasn't launched yet.

@Tinuviel That guy looks like a prosthetic. Like a blow up doll filled with the mind gem and sentient enough to make thoughts into mouth words.

@Auspice The whole community needs to get on the IASIP train. We'd be much more tightly knit and love each other more if we all believed in the plight of patriotic birdmen soldier pro wrestlers with drawn-on abs.
