@ifrit I feel so called out by this.
I do this all the time, when I'm working. I will spend hours doing... what-the-fuck-ever it is I do, and then spend the last few hours of my shift speed burning through files. He's very concerned that I will burn myself out lol - apparently he doesn't understand this is how I've lived my liiiiiiife.
Just had my first exam. I'm not sure what A LOT of pattern recognition exercises, word lists, and "Remember this story" have to do with anything other than cognition, but I hammered it down in pretty good time, I think @3.5 hours instead of 4-4.5 hours. Maybe establishing a baseline?
Neuropsych done, I'm guessing the actual interesting stuff with be with Behavioral Health in March? This is my first run through at all of this.

As I understand it (not an expert), they're part of tests for working memory, which is often one of the things impaired by ADD. Being able to hold a list of instructions, words, etc. in your head.
Like being able to remember what you were going to the kitchen for by the time you actually make it there.
Some of those tests can also evaluate being able to sustain focus on an activity without spacing out on some internal tangent and then being all: "Wait, what were we doing?"

My abuse of exclamation points is roughly equivalent to me wagging my tail!
My use of exclamation points is mandated by my perceived gender so that people don't think I'm being a bitch just for addressing them!

@aria I relate to that a lot in theory! But in practice, professionally, I would rather cultivate my intimidating aura. Which is a thing I've been told I have. In person. To my face. By a woke cisdude coworker. But, you know, as a compliment. It is now the standard to which I hold all other compliments.

@nyctophiliac Yes. Sensory processing issues commonly occur alongside ADHD. There's some debate as to whether it's a separate condition (SPD) or just another facet of ADHD itself, but nevertheless, it is common to have both.

Truthfully, if I'm not using punctuation, yes, I either am ill or borderline seriously depressed. If I cannot muster a "Hi!" instead of a "hi" something is wrong to a dire degree.
...which means I freak out when other people are just being lazy or on a phone where they don't want to bother with capitalization or punctuation.
@nyctophiliac Yes. Yes absolutely. I cannot wear wool, no matter how 'soft' it is, it feels like a brillo pad to me. I tend to buy shirts that are pre-washed because that 'new shirt' stiffness irritates me. I have refused to wear tapered leg jeans for decades because it bothers me to have the excess fabric scrunched up around my ankles. If a tag is out I must must flip it in, having it against the back of my neck is unacceptable. There are more. SO many more. Soft washed cotton and chenille are about the only two things I know for certain I can tolerate at any time.
@too-old-for-this Yes. Wool is the DEVIL. I can't even. I stick to cotton.
And when I go shopping before I even seriously look at anything, I touch it. It's never been an issue but last year I took my husband for a shop for a few new things and he took issue with it because corona.
