Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?
-
What ever you choose to call it, you are willfully ignorant if you havn't noticed how OOCly emotionally invested most MU* players get with their TS partners and while generalisations are unfair, it is easy to see why players would think staffers that TS players are emotionally invested in those players.
-
You can find something hot/sexy that is still 100% ic, and that is not creepy. If I am doing IC rp and someone tells me, OOC, that it inspired a RL orgasm? That is invasive and uncomfortable and weird, and it is ON THEM.
I have so many yikes right now.
-
@Wretched I have also been MUing for decades and yet I still retain the opinion that I can write sex with people who are not masturbating while we do so, and in fact, have written sex with at least 15 people who I would lay odds have never masturbated while we wrote sex together no matter how explicit the poses are or were.

That's not a character interaction any more, y'all.
A "relationship" can mean anything from us talking to (or at) each other on a forum, to an emotional connection. If I have a one-night stand, that's still a sexual relationship. If I have the same one-night stand via fiction?
I think you're taking it waaaaaayyy too nitpicky, @Sunny. Or perhaps you're projecting? Or maybe you're just getting emotional and are not able to say:
"What squicks me is that people are projecting through their character." (This is my interpretation of your meaning only.)
Instead all you're saying is:
"No, you're wrong."
I like reading you as to saying the former because that's something we can sink our teeth into, something to discuss. The latter is just...what do you want from people out of that? Handjobs and puppies?

i've had someone oocly ask to prolong a ts scene so that they 'could finish'

WOW (spelled backwards)

@Thenomain That was extremely uncool of you. If you don't know why, please step back and think about your choices.

And I should take your advice because...?
edit: Not that I shouldn't take the advice, just that I can think of almost nobody less qualified to give me advice.

The problem with equating TSing with someone as having an OOC sexual relationship with them is that it's pretty much the foundation for a lot of OOC abuse and manipulation wherein actual problems occur from people assuming their IC relationship with someone extends to OOC and then you've got people behaving with aggressive entitlement, jealousy, etc. in a super inappropriate way. Or literally using the presumed relationship as a tool to be an actual predator. Like, the idea that TS = an OOC relationship of some sort is the cause of huge problems. Thus, when you use the justifications some players use to abuse or misbehave and spread it as an inherent fact of any IC sexytimes -- well. I am honestly surprised at the people who don't understand why several people are super skeeved out right now. Because it seems like such a dangerous statement to make that literally supports the viewpoints of people who want to use TS as a means to control and manipulate others.

I agree with you. This is what I am trying to point out because this is the reality in which the MUing community exists.
@Kanye-Qwest I agree with you too, it has creeped me the fuck out. But that is the reality of the MUing world, it isnt perfect, and people get REALLY WEIRD about IC relationships and TS.
So yes, when it is argued that 'people that only see it as writing and are 100% above the board and ethical have a really cool dynamic and they happed to fuck and it was the best thing and ST did for them and it was great.'
That sounds fucking awesome.
But that's not the reality of the MUing community.

@Thenomain Consider your words in the context of the discussion and what it means to dismiss anyone's point on the basis that you believe they are "getting emotional", and understand why so many people are reacting to this with "wow," "yikes," and etc.
Your longstanding feud with KQ is really, really not the issue.

And if I don't? Let's say I say, "No, I don't get it." At this point I'm putting my trust out there that I'm not going to get dogpiled for it.
Let's say I was thinking, "Yeah, I've said stupid things because I'm getting emotional, or certainly not thinking rationally." What would you say to this...entirely hypothetical...version of someone? Would you explain it? Or would you deride them?
You? I'd expect you'd be more in the former camp.
Your longstanding feud with KQ is really, really not the issue.
Which is why I added the edit. I will consider the advice from nearly anyone else.
I don't trust KQ to do anything but spit in the face of people if she herself thinks it's necessary, whether or not it is.

Can I unread this somehow?

@Thenomain tl;dr "you're too emotional" is a common derailing tactic in debate used against women who express any sort of investment in what they're arguing about. a lot of women who have experienced it or witnessed it a fair amount don't appreciate seeing it because its most common usage is to try and shut them up.
-
The comment hit home and as a result I did get emotional, and hurt, and I am withdrawing from engaging with you with a roll of my eyes. I'm not going to explain it because I don't owe that to you. That I'm bothering to tell you it hurt my feelings is a favor.

Well this is fucking stupid of those people to try and shut up women for being women. "Special Circle of Hell" stupid.
I'm too emotional and sometimes need warned from it.

Not my intention, and my deepest apologies that this happened.

It's not reality, it's abuse. It's used for abusive stuff. When it happens it should be DEALT WITH. Every. Time. Because it is a problem every. time.
