Transformers: Lost & Found

Yeah, they dropped his science thing entirely for IDW -- early Starscream stuff has him being more a political/military figure than anything else. Which is sad, because I always liked the idea of scientist Starscream. But I like the idea of most kinds of Starscream. (I just love Starscream.)
-
I love to watch Starscream fuck himself over by being an enormous turd! We both get what we want!
Megatron's "I want to LIVE!" moment being Starscream opening his mouth and him realizing that if he dies, Starscream wins was all kinds of brilliant.
I'm also enjoying Starscream's bile over the fact that Optimus stomps all over most of his fuckery by accident.
Like, recently they found one of Cybertron's lost colonies, and Starscream set shit up so he could rescue them and put them in his back pocket.
Optimus shows up, and they're like "Well, he's a Prime, and he's carrying the Matrix of Leadership, AND the hilt of the Star Saber so he kind of ticks off all our checkboxes for 'Messiah'. We're very grateful for your help, Starscream, but we're going to take our cues from the emissary of Primus."
Starscream's reaction was about what you'd expect.

The quintessential Starscream moment for me -- the one that I remember the most from childhood -- will always, always be from Transformers: The Movie.
Megatron: I still function...
Starscream: Wanna bet?
Ahahaha and then Galvatron comes back and kills him
-
My favorite was always this exchange:
Megatron: "Starscream, either you're lying or you're stupid!"
Starscream: "I'M STUPID, I'M STUPID!"
Man... I miss Chris Latta.
-
Starscream would never lie to you Megatron!!
-
Like in G.I. Joe, when Dr. Mindbender (who is the worst scientist ever, Cobra really shopped in the budget bin for that one) creates Serpentor and Cobra Commander suddenly becomes the sole remaining voice of reason -- Latta nailed how fucking insane that shit was perfectly. Even Cobra Commander, an absolute lunatic, could not believe what the hell was going on.

Galvatron: Coronation ceremony, Starscream? This is bad comedy.
Starscream: Megatron? Is that you?
Galvatron: Here's a hint. (transforms and obliterates Starscream)
Man, I miss Leonard Nimoy.

Man, I know. That one hit me hard.
One of my co-staffers is the biggest Starscream fan of all of us because she loves terrible trash characters and she's totally wistful that she can't play him in the theme we chose, but now she's gleefully NPCing him for a plot. FOR ONE BRIEF SHINING MOMENT she gets to play the king of trash.
-
Why can't she play him? I'm curious. It's not like he's dead.

In the canon we're currently playing in, he's literally back on Cybertron as the actual elected leader. (Or will be elected soon, based on how you consider time.) If you're not an IDW reader, there are basically a pair of sister series (More Than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise). At the start of the split, MTMTE is focused on a crew of misfits that basically get lost in space way far from Cybertron a la Voyager.
We are definitely open to pulling in characters who are canonically on Cybertron and pulling them into our space adventures if players come on and are interested and work out a way for it to make sense. But there are certain characters -- Starscream, Prowl, Bumblebee, etc. -- who are particularly important back on Cybertron that that will be harder for. And even beyond that, a staffer trying to justify that for a really major FC is different from a regular player doing it. ("Wow, good job, you totally bent your own canon just so you could play your favorite character, super ethical there.")
Plus, she's playing Rodimus, who is a really major FC already. I don't think any of us as staffers would try apping for more than one FC of that level of importance and popularity. (And we have some built-in stuff to prevent that in general -- someone grabbing two really big-time FCs at once isn't really fair to anyone.)
-
Oh, I thought the game was also going to have a Cybertron component. There's been enough back and forth that you certainly could. Earth/Cybertron/Space... though the humans aren't exactly enamored of the cybertronians right now, except for Thundercracker, who's writing scripts for television series....
-
No, not at this point. In general the kinds of games me and this staffing team have run and enjoyed are more focused, smaller-scale games. Put everyone in one place, particularly when starting a new game.
We'll probably visit Cybertron at some point, like how the Lost Light made its way back during the Dark Cybertron arc. (Although it won't actually be the same Dark Cybertron arc, I'm sure.)
However, there is no way in the world we are never crossing paths with Thundercracker and Buddy, because we love him too much. But, again, in the future.

But we've saved the day, and with our first season over, it's time for season two! Check out Transformers: Lost and Found for a fun-filled vacation tour of the Cybertronian colonies where absolutely nothing goes wrong, no one dies, and nothing bad happens.*
