The Work Thread

After a week of dealing with super annoying recruiter - I finally have a start date.
-
I think that one reaches the zenith of honesty when the audience gleefully accepts the cruelty you heap upon it.

Calm down, Marquis.

So, at my job, contractors often have to sit at just... like.. a long table, side-by-side. It is a terrible setup. Like hey here have just enough desk space for your laptop and two monitors. Room to work? What room? Privacy? What privacy?
Because of how closely I work with my team, I've had a desk. Like, a proper desk. With space.
But my team is moving and they'll be sitting next to one of the contractor work areas, so I have to move to it.
Gonna suck for whoever sits next to me because I usually have notebooks and folders and papers spread out while I work.
-
Anybody willing to go to work for me tomorrow? Damn but I do not want to go.
ETA: Please?
-
What do you do? I might be willing to trade for a day. Also how early?
-
@Sunny Later and later, as it turns out, as I sit here and procrastinate going to bed so as to stave off tomorrow. It's still tomorrow now, though, so it's not really working.
I do project management, vendor management, and some business analysis. It's a lot of hitting 'reply all' and writing 'Thanks <insert name>!' then mashing send -- things are set up dumb so almost everything is going through email. I'm working on it.
-
Sorry. I did say MIGHT. Uhm. I wish you very good coffee for your morning.

An hour of looking through old pleadings because someone told me I needed to find the appropriate language in order to request a subpoena against another attorney.
...the statue specifically exempts me from those requirements because I'm doing a case involving ineffective assistance of counsel.
Rinel you are a lawyer stop listening to other people and read the law first

Moved into my new office today.
All by myself!! It's warm, too!

Me to Associate: Remember to stop listening to your client and look at the evidence presented first.
-
Yeah, that's the first lesson. The second lesson is to apply that to other attorneys.

I don't know about you, but I am remarkably glad people can't look at the revision history of an email like they can a wiki page.

Isn't that basically how most posts in the Hog Pit go, without the last two lines?
-
Apologies. I will be more clear next time.

You're a lawyer. Being clear in writing goes against every part of your training.

We're in full-on recovery mode for this project.
We just lost two PM's in a month.
