I need people to learn how to use the 'accept but don't send response' option for their Microsoft calendar invites.

As MTSS coordinator I set up all the calendar invites for our middle of year meetings and came back to my computer to 100+ emails of people accepting the meeting.

      slam head on desk

You can actually turn off the option to request responses.

I cannot tell you how much I agree with @silverfox and also kind of ❤ you right now.

HOW IS THIS NOT STANDARD KNOWLEDGE

I think I only discovered it when someone at some point sent me an invite that didn't have the notifications options with my response, and I was like, oh that's neat, wonder how they did that.

Wait, I'm not supposed to send responses to these??

I send responses for normal, small meetings. I don’t send responses for things like…my full company all-call. Big stuff where my attendance doesn’t impact scheduling and such, I figure they don’t need an email notification about whether I’m coming or not. A small meeting with my team? I send a response, because if I can’t make it we probably have to reschedule.

@roz That makes sense, I guess I'll check the number of invitees from now on!

Yeah, in my day to day, the meetings I DON'T send a response to are rarities. Almost entirely just, like -- our monthly company all-calls. Or if there's some sort of seminar or whatnot that everyone is invited to if they want to come, that sort of thing.

Which sounds like exactly the sort of meetings @silverfox is scheduling. I WOULDN'T SEND YOU A RESPONSE, BB.

                  @roz @Juniper

I tend to do the 'accept but don't send a response' so that I show up on the invite as accepted, and it's all pretty and bold on my calendar, but no one gets an email.

I told my principal I learned this thing today and she laughed at me.

BUT FROM NOW ON THIS IS HOW ALL INVITES WILL BE MADE GDI.

So now, work has taken away two holidays, on top of screwing everyone with the work load.

People are getting snarky and pushing back in chat (people that aren't me!).

It's like they are TRYING to implode.

Well, I just got off an interview.

I should receive an offer letter before the end of the day.

                          Please gods, let this happen.

I SO WANT TO TELL MY BOSS OFF.

@sunny I appreciate. The hourly pay isn't any better, but it's permanently remote, I can move anywhere in the continental US, and they offer mad bonuses.

At this point, a pay cut will be made up for in the "this place is not a trash fire" department, I think. I'd rather see you somewhere that realized you were a human being that paid a little less than the nightmare you're in right now for ANY amount of money. Obv it's your life and all of that, but seriously, I am doing my equivalent of praying for you.

I just spoke to my boss. And he ever so helpfully reminded me, without meaning to - I don't matter to him. To the company.

I told him that people are pissed. They're taking away holidays, even if their particular office is closed say... the day after thanksgiving, they have to work from home. They're dumping work that is NOT in our department on us more and more by the day. This is not going to change for 'the foreseeable future', despite what I've been told elsewhere (not that I believe anything at this point.). I told him I don't want him left holding the bag. "We'll manage. We always do."

Well thanks boss. Fuck you too. Pay cut or not, I think I am out. (I still have other interviews scheduled)

I want to quit. I want to quit so bad.

So, at this point - I am sugar crashing multiple times a day. (A lot of people with stress spike, my anxiety/panic makes me crash). They know this. They know it is physically bad for my health, and they still refuse to update me on any sort of temporary accommodation.

But they let me do some my actual job yesterday, so they could 'audit' my skills.

@Macha Maybe see if there's a disability advocate who can help you? I dunno about where you live, but around here there are some non-profit organizations that offer pro-bono services. Sometimes an advocate can light a fire because they know the next step is lawsuit.

@faraday I already pointed out to my boss, I have three choices. Let them keep abusing me like this, find a new job, or sue the hell out of them.

They know I am a diabetic. I have proof of multiple sugar crashes a day since starting this 'task'. I know, I know, it's not proof that this task is doing it, but I have an accommodation request in for a reason.

...someone tell me to not try and slap them with a lawsuit.
