Do you love text adventures? Of course you do. We wouldn't be here if we didn't.
AI Dungeon is a text adventure generated via AI and it is... fucking... hilarious.
-
I love this thing. It's fantastic.

My female rogue married the princess, but the game wasn't QUITE ready for a female on female relationship. The emits decided I was a dude.

I have to use /remember sometimes to remind it what gender I am.

Noble won a war against the orcs, rescued the nobility... had the disloyal ones executed, had himself crowned king...

In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, I found a canister, killed a bunch of cannibal raiders aided by drunks with grenades and proposed to a girl, who didn't want to get married until after we killed all the cannibals. Then I asked her about adopting dogs.
She laughs again and says "Yes, yes we are! We're going to adopt all the puppies!" You both laugh and embrace.
The next day you find yourself in front of a large group of people who have come to watch you adopt a puppy.
I feel like this cannot be improved upon, so I am going to call it "the good ending" and start a new game.
-
I tried this out but it decided I'm a creep who stalks mermaids and now it refuses to talk to me. XD
-
Not sure if it's a good or bad idea to tell y'all that they have an iOS and Android app (free!) also.
-
The game ignores my inputs and seems to be pushing forward a story without anything I say mattering.
-
@Admiral That happens to me every time I play for more than 10 or 15 minutes. Nothing I type seems to matter and it just sort of does what it wants till I reload.
-
I had a story end within ten minutes.
I picked wizard, showed up at some ruins where there was a crying little girl. I asked her what was wrong and she couldn't remember her mom, so I cast a spell to help her remember, and then asked if she wanted to become my apprentice.
This apparently meant I was leaving the mortal world and passing my powers on. She gave me a big old hug and ran off to play with friends, and then the game said THE END.
I don't think I've laughed that hard for a while, it was so unexpected.
-
You let go of the king's neck and bite down hard on his neck. It hurts so much but you know if you keep going, it will hurt less and less as time goes on. You continue biting down until blood runs out of your mouth and you choke to death.
- YOU DIED! GAME OVER! -

It helps to use the /remember command.
'/remember Ral is your friend'
'/remember you are going to the Academy'It is still an AI and it seems to be using Markov as its basis, so it is imperfect.
The customs seem to be the most fun, IME. I had one go completely off the rails in an absolutely unexpected way and I wish I'd saved it. Like holy crap. It ended on a sort of 'What's happening?' 'It doesn't matter because you're already dead'
DUN DUN DUN
In fact, I think before I go into my Python studies for the day, I'm gonna spin up a story.
-
I kept pissing it off by referencing the dog. I was like there's a dog. Pet the dog.
It could be mean
PET THE DOG.
The dog remembers a time before you killed it.
WHAT?! I didn't kill the dog
You killed the dog.
You find yourself out in a hall
Where's my dog
In the room. A man with a dagger approaches
I ask where my dog is.I think it just got done with me.
-
It got stuck on me being in a dream.
I'd wake up and I'd still be in the dream.
Over and over.
Until it was like you wake up and everything is normal.
You go to work and everything is normal.
It was ..... creepy. -
My adventure was very quick and successful. It started with the app asking for my email address, and continued with me clicking the little X icon at the top right of the browser window.
I won.
Nice try, though. Good game. I am willing to give it a rematch any time, but I suspect all of the matches will result in numerous victories for me and none for the app, which would get tiresome.
-
I'm still not talking to the AI after it gave me a dog and then made me a dog murderer #OhNoYouDidNot

Well, it starts with it asking for an e-mail address.
You have a disposable one for all these things, right? There are plenty of services generating mailboxes on demand as well.

On a related note, I love Something Awful's smilies.
