@Thenomain I still seriously loved Carnivale. Still do.
One of the pipe dream game settings along the way was a twisted mashup of that and Firefly: a traveling space carnival with that dustbowl feel, set on the ship caravan traveling along a series of rag-tag frontier worlds instead of a traditional highway.

So I am only 13 years and 2 presidents late but I am finally watching Arrested Development.

I've never watched Arrested Development either. I don't like the camera style.
-
@Coin I thought I would hate the 'interview' style of Parks and Rec.
When I convinced myself to watch it... it turns out I really didn't care that much. The series ate my life for a couple of weeks.

I am making business cards for Burt Macklin (Fully Bonded & Insured) right now for a work project.
-
@Sunny As long as it's not for Judy Hitler I guess.
-
@surreality I would play the hell out of that.
-
@Cupcake It is still #2 on my list of 'if I do a thing... ' Pirates first, if I can get my oomph back some day. But yeah. Low focus on the tech, high focus on the story for the characters, with a smattering of weirdness and mysticism that gets all the weirder when it comes into contact with the mysteries of the universe. Grid would have been oddly easy -- the caravan of ships themselves -- with a 'landing site of the week/month/whichever' as a room or two of a world that could be redesced as needed for wherever they were doing their schtick for the crowd.
Would have likely been super niche, but for the kind of stories that would exist in a world like that, I think a small crowd that works together well and has reason to get invested in everybody else as much as possible and had to work together as much as possible would have actually helped create the best vibe for it as a game on the whole.

Anyone with some general thoughts on S1 The Defenders? Trying to decide if I want to binge it or not.
-
@Jaded I liked it, just finished binge-watching it.
It was a bit short, just 8 episodes, but otherwise it was fun. The banter is on point.
-
Thanks. Going to start it tonight then.
-
.....I'm bored but I'm also too lazy to read 73 pages of this thread.
I finished Marco Polo. And the Last Kingdom. And Vikings. And Versailles. Someone recommend something vaguely historical-ish to me. whines and maybe flails and points feebly at her Netflix/Amazon Prime
-
@Aria I don't think it's on either of those, but if you have Starz, I will advocate for Black Sails always, because goddamn.
-
@surreality WILL.
-
Probably not up your alley, but King's War on Netflix was pretty fantastic to me.
-
These Game of Thrones ravens are really really fast... faster than text messaging.
-
@Tyche This is probably why all of those 'as the crow flies' directions are like, 5 minutes, but the drive takes three and a half hours. I'm just going to stick with that one.
-
@Tyche They did the math on reddit (as they do) and it apparently checks out.
But really, George Martin himself in the context of the books said the exact reason he's not giving time frames in the novels is so people won't worry about the logistics, and just enjoy the story.
Are there plot holes? Sure. Is it entertaining? Damn right.
-
But are they African or European ravens? I'm assuming they're unladen.
