Everyone loves Jeremy Bearimy.
"That's my birthday."

I've been enjoying The Titans - their casting choices were really on point although their budget and pacing is a bit concerning - so I thought, hey, I'll watch Titans Go! To The Movies which would surely be on the same level of dark, introspective broodiness.
Spoiler alert: It was not on the same level of dark, introspective broodiness. But it was damn fun - whoever wrote this shit must have been ridiculously, outrageously high the whole time, and it showed. Daaaamn! It didn't for one second try to take itself seriously, and the whole thing paid off big time.

@arkandel There is Teen Titans, and there is Teen Titans Go! The latter pays lip service to the former, but TTG! is very much a parody of its previous incarnation and it is hilarious. It deals with things in the worst way possible and makes it obvious that this is indeed the worst possible way to handle the situation and its funny af. I used to snob about this show, partly because I was still upset at the original TT show getting cancelled when it was getting so good... but then I got hooked into watching it. TTG! is unapologetic about being 'low-brow' and trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator. They even have an episode that covers this exact, specific thing. It refuses to take itself seriously and mocks both the viewers and itself mercilessly in a way that is too amusing to offend. So yes, TTG! is that friend from high school that lived on a level of stoned the rest of us could only stare at in shock and awe, coming up with shit that absolutely should not have worked but it did, it fucking did and holy fuck HOW?!!?
-
There is a sort of spectrum of in the shows about the Teen Titans that goes from "absolutely fucking bonkers and ridiculous" all the way to "appropriately realistic, dark and brooding", and that spectrum goes like this:
Teen Titans! Go - Teen Titans - Young Justice - Titans.
[Young Justice because it's essentially originally a rework of the 90s/early 00s Young Justice / Teen Titans (comic book) teams (but with more secrecy and less officialism, which moves neatly into the absolutely unofficial and definitely not-public Titans).]
-
Teen Titans! Go - Teen Titans - Young Justice - Titans.
This is pretty much how it goes.
TTG! is my favorite for the reasons stated above. And it is damn intelligent about it too. Low-brow humor? Yes. Classic Family Guy 80s culture intertextuality? Yes. Shameless self-mockery? Yes. For me, what makes TTG!TTM the best of the DC Universe is how it mocks the mainstream DC-Marvel movie-verse tastefully and viciously, to the point where it is the focus of the story.
You know, MIND MANIPULATION.
You can watch the whole series on Hulu. My favorite episode is the first short of S3E23, titled "Riding the Dragon."

My god, finally saw TTGttM.
So good.
"Robin, if your team is going to poop on the props and beat up the actors this isn't going to work."
I literally need this entire movie made into gifs.

I just finished season three of The Last Kingdom. This show makes me so happy.
-
Hulu is a dollar a month for the first year if you get it before the 26th or so.

This is a fantastic time for streaming. I will enjoy this era until corporations manage to screw it up.
More.

Did they just murder Ray Palmer or Ryan Choi?!

Ugh. Netflix cancelled daredevil too. Going to guess none of their Marvel shows will survive the Disney streaming service launch.
-
I'm sure Disney will bring back all the series. Sanitized, of course. They'll remove much of the violence. Maybe even throw in a crossover where Mickey Mouse and the gang help save the day.
That's right, FUCK YOU KINGDOM HEARTS! FUCK YOU TO DEATH.
cough Okay I feel better now.
-
I think it's already been confirmed they'll be PG-13 at most.
So. We better hope Netflix keeps Punisher.

PS: Watch The Good Place; it just keeps getting better and better and I love it
I honestly think seasons 1 and 2 were better, but I haven't seen the latest episode. Things like "Jeremy Bearamy" stand out like Chekov's Gun; if they don't use this I'm going to be disappointed. And there are some sharp turns where it looks like the writers say, "We need to be going over there now."
Derek is a perfect example of this not happening, and the little touches for him are even better.
Oh don't get me wrong, The Good Place has supplanted Pushing Daisies (RIP) and Dead Like Me as my favorite surreal TV series, but season 3 feels like The Last Season And We Know It.
Whaaaat. No. I love The Good Place to pieces, it's arguably one of the best things on TV right now, but I'm sorry... "What the pie-maker did not know was that nothing could ever supplant Pushing Daisies in this viewer's heart." (Said in Jim Dale's voice, of course.)
-
Man, if you don't love Donkey Doug we just don't have anything to talk about.
(and some Pillboi)
BORTLES!
-
Pillboi was my improv teacher & I love that he's crushing it.
-
HOLY SHIT I DID NOT KNOW THAT NOELLE STEVENSON WAS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER ON SHE-RA I AM SO EXCITED FOR HER THAT I AM YELLING!
(Subtitle: I liked her before she sold out and still like her now that she’s successful. Good on her. She also did Lumberjanes and worked on Wander Over Yonder.)
-
Follow-Up from my much earlier turnaround: D’Arcy Carden is an amazing actress.
If you are not watching The Good Place, then what are you doing with your life?
