RL things I love

Zomg I’m doing the fat cougar housewife thing and getting violet highlights in my hair! Unfortunately I can’t afford to change them every week for @Tempest

I am finally starting to see some return for my efforts in career searching. I have three interviews lined up with good companies that pay well, one of them is even a salaried position and comes with government benefits!
-
We recently adopted a pair of Tonkinese cats, siblings. One boy (long hair), one girl (short hair).
Kitty Pics!
(We did not name them) -
We are getting a new second car! Well, used-new. New to us! An '07 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that only has about 10K more miles on it than my '09 Forester.

Look.
Look at this pie I just put in the oven. Look at it.
It's fucking adorable.

My crazy cousins have determined that Thanksgiving feastivities will be enduring through Saturday.
At some point on Saturday, this is going to happen.
We are mostly old farts and none of us are getting any younger, but you can be damned sure I'm charging the phone up for that shit (for insurance purposes when someone inevitably ends up sent to the hospital if nothing else).
Thanksgiving Thunderdome: TWO COUSINS ENTER, ONE COUSIN LEAVES.
...did I mention my relatives are insane? I have neon green and teal and orange hair at the moment and I'm the sane adult in the room most of the time. (Y'all just go on and be properly horrified by that, 'cause fuck knows I am.)
-
Oh I feel you. I hope y'all have a great time!
I don't do anything with my blood family (because fuck that dramabomb, it can put MU* dramabomb to shame), but my in-laws are crazy (my fiance of 16+ years is the oldest of 8, all of his sibs are married and there's 13 children of them, plus some cousins and aunts and uncles). And they are avid game players. Card games, board games, all kinds of stuff. Battle of the Sexes (FUN FACT DO NOT PLAY THIS WHEN THE GIRLS IN THE FAMILY HUNT, FISH, AND DO AUTOMOTIVE STUFF AS WELL AS THE GUYS!), Trivial Pursuit, Rook, BUNKO! and Cards Against Humanity are cutthroat. I love it.

It’s pretty fun, and less hurtful than you’d think— however it’s very smelly. You’re in an enclosed not well ventilated inflatable plastic space, and evenwhen it’s cleaned well, it’s still funky.
I found it messed up my equilibrium.

In my youth I was the witness to a crime against a friend of mine. A crime of heinous and barbaric nature.
The perpetrator of said crime is up for parole, and I have been given the chance to testify once more in order to prevent that parole from occurring. Originally I wasn't going to, as much as it pained me to consider that, as I'd have to fly back to the UK to do so.Yesterday I received a call that I could give my testimony via VOIP. I get my chance. So that's something I love today.

So, I blame this stupid slot game on my phone. It's for fake money, not for real money, unfortunately. If it were for real money, I'd have $11 million in my bank account and would not be making $12,500 bets on slot rolls....
But anyway! The thing I love: I'm currently playing a super tacky pharaohs of Egypt style slot game. And whenever I win a fairly large jackpot, a woman's voice announces in gasping astonishment "That's a big one!"
I cannot stop laughing.

I just bought this for the gift exchange at work.
(One of those where you steal gifts. I know in some areas it's called white elephant, some call it dirty santa, etc etc.)
I'm not sure whether it was a bad idea or a great idea.

After fourteen plus years, I got to do some RPing that didn't involve a mush! A friend ran an OTT via Roll20 and it was so much fun! I just might have to try and find an easy module for me to run.

Random family mandatory fun for the holidays included a trek to a big dinner hosted at a local mansion-turned-event venue.
It is reputedly... haunted. Whatever, but we cheerfully chatted with the staff about it, including the venue manager -- and they were super happy to share stories, instead of just pretending that it wasn't a thing. (This was far more engaging than chatter with relatives I barely remember about their current crop of ailments.)
We spotted a legit secret door (it isn't super hidden, but nobody else amongst the kinfolk spotted it until we pointed it out) and they even told us where it went, why it was there, and what had been on the other end of it before the place was renovated. (Now, it just leads to a storage room in the cellar.)
I love it when what seems like it's going to be a boring session of mandatory fun instead becomes what would make a fantastic setting for an episode of Scooby Doo.

My mom is a tiny, white Frenchwoman in her sixties. This morning, she was singing the chorus to L.L. Cool J's "Going Back to Cali" around the house, then went to YouTube to listen to 2-Pac's "California Love".

This is like my saving grace. For DECADES I have had to listen to people nag at me for not eating breakfast. 'Its the most important meal of the day!' 'It will kickstart your metabolism!' None of which help when I can only respond with 'I'm sorry but I really am just NOT hungry in the morning AT ALL'. And I don't mean that kind of 'not hungry' where you could actually stand to eat a little... I mean, I wake up feeling full and eating in the morning risks putting me into the 'I'm now tired and slow from having overeaten' category. A cup of coffee and a bottle of water to sip on through the morning is really all I need. Lunch is when I'll start eating.
-
@miss-demeanor Coffee is breakfast food.
-
@tinuviel Exactly. A cup of coffee while I'm getting dressed and I'm good to go.
-
@miss-demeanor Eating within about the first two hours of waking up -- unless I skipped dinner entirely the night before, and sometimes even then -- just makes me feel ill. It's not just you. I promise.

Roll20 is a very fun thing, I have played and ran games there, but... I wish it stopped the anonymity of the internet thing, there are /still/ some people who start the insults the moment female voice is heard. Ah well. I guess it depends on the rando's you're with.
-
I don't know if I could ever brave playing with strangers. Maybe someday I'll give that a shot. But I am content with just playing with friends.

Same boat, here!

@apu I will search for games, apply, read what posts are being put up, and if I get a skeevy feel, I bail. Not afraid to bail on a roll 20 game if I don't feel it will be fun.
