@bobotron Now we just gotta get @Thenomain into cooking this shit up into a codebase.
I am hesitant to do so. The SJW in me isn’t sure it wants to support Pornjerk McLaughing-At-Others. I will contently take a look at any drafts or glance at any rulesets people have on hand, but no promises.

I'm not involved in this project.

Which writer is this?
Zak Smith. He was openly laughing, in a writing sense, people who were criticizing the pre-alpha’s implication that one of the characters practiced predatory practices against minors. As usual the ol’ chestnut “It’s the World of Darkness” was trotted out. The blog post on the White Wolf website about it is far more measured, “we did this on purpose but our fault was not explaining why”, but Zak’s responses on social medium were very, well, WORA.
However, I respect every ounce of Kenneth Hite and am glad to see him as lead writer, so I’m willing to give it a shot, but I suspect that my goth days are completely purged from my persona and so my desire for edginess. This wouldn’t normally be enough to turn me away completely. That would be Zak’s tone-deaf masturbation.

I also respect Hite and what's being done, but I don't respect the fact that this line is getting milked for all its worth, while there are other lines that could really use some love and respect.

White Wolf wants to go back to its roots: A group of stoners led by a charismatic douche that touched on the nerve of a generation that felt underrepresented.
I’m not calling Hite a stoner, but on the same token the current underrepresented generation is rebelling against violence and eating Tide pods, so I’m not sure how they think this is going to work.

@thenomain
Yeah. Considering Zak's not even involved anymore (he wrote We EatAssBlood, and that seemed to be the extent of his contract), I wouldn't consider that 'supporting him' to buy V5. They've also added the Jasons, who are also (to me) good additions and quality writers (I've enjoyed their Mind's Eye Theatre stuff). I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic, but I'm interested in the mechanical changes they've done, particularly Hunger. -

And Zak Smith has been called out repeatedly (we've discussed him on these very boards) for his sexist, racist, and other disgusting behaviors. We know he's an ass.

And they're stating that they're doing a 'final beta' preview at PDXCon in May, so I expect that version to be released for general consumption end of May/June-ish.
-
Good to know. Is he still associated with White Wolf?
-
@thenomain
He was a freelancer under contract, not a WW employee. So he's not actively working on anything that I'm aware of. If they choose to hire him again down the road, there's no way to tell. -
Then I happily upgrade “no” to “wait and see”.

So. SO.
I mentioned in the RL Things I Hate thread (or somewhere, I can't remember) how I get migraines. And I have sumatriptan injections to deal with them. And how they work FANTASTIC ... when I can get the injections to work. But out of the 12 shots I am allotted per month, I usually can only get, like, 3 or 4 of the autoinjectors to actually fire.
Well.
My pharmacy started to carrying a different brand of generic and they are so much better and I am actually going to be able to use all 12 shots that I get every month and not have to cry through migraines that I cannot treat. YES. FUCKING YES.

@thenomain
I'll share things with you, @Thenomain -
Someone in my Arma group told a pun joke, not realizing what he was getting into. Or how many pun jokes I truly have memorized.
He has opened this can of worms.

In a world that seems to admire John Macclain types who kill the bad guys on sight, I'm proud of Toronto for making a hero out of the cop who didn't shoot the mass murderer even though he could, and would have suffered no consequences for it, and even after he was repeatedly provoked into doing so.
Local stores have been inviting police in to give them free treats in appreciation - for not shooting the bad guy.

It's a fucking sad state of affairs when you're rewarding people for doing their jobs correctly and mitigating (if not nullifying) any punishment for fucking it up or even outright justifying the misconduct (often criminal) due to "circumstances" that they are trained to deal with.
I say this as a sad state of affairs GLOBALLY.

@coin Also while during active school shootings cops hide behind cars and wait them out, let's arm middle aged teachers instead. That'll fix the problem.
