I won a monitor in a raffle today.
When my number was called I had a moment of my brain just sort of shorting out. The thing was one of two grand prizes. I'm still in sort of holy shit mode.
(Also getting to play all this VR has been super fun. I've been loving spending this weekend with a friend I haven't seen in a decade+ and immersing myself in gaming. I've also been able to do some networking, too, so it's been beneficial for my career!)

3rd interview for poss. job was today.
They're deciding between me and one other person. I feel really good about it. They found out I'm into board games and one of the interviewers (and I think the primary decision-maker, at that) got really excited and began asking me my favorite board games, etc... even went into TT RPGs for a bit (they do a beer & game night every other week). I def. charmed them on the social front. I know that's not the only important thing, but if it comes down to being equatable with the other person on the skills front... them deciding they'd enjoy working with me more could be the deciding factor.
Fingers crossed.

Sing: "Gamers of the world, you must unite"
to the tune of 'Perfect people of the world you've got to go ' from Dear Dumb Diary.Fingers crossed here, good luck there.

@Auspice a couple of months ago we interviewed someone for an engineering position. She's brilliant, and a superb engineer, and absolutely deserves the job, but I won't lie: the fact that she's a gamer and plays D&D did figure into my "hire" vote for her over other candidates, too.
(Especially speaking as the DM who runs the company D&D campaign; one of my co-workers left and the party was down a cleric!)
-
@Sparks I'm running a @lunch game on Thursdays myself and just had two people move on to other jobs. Thankfully, one of them moved on to a job that is less than a mile away so he still shows up. It would have sucked for them to loose their cleric.

"She's an excellent culture fit and can definitely heal."

Well, at least some part of the Flyers organization will be doing something when the regular season ends.

I am so blessed with my job.
Working from home today (instead of losing the hours) while I recover from a medical thing, with an assignment that's sort of like a donut assignment to begin with (it's a complete treat to be able to work on this stuff at all, it's super fun for me).
My boss just called to give me more work to work on, and it's all interesting research in a vein I research on my own for fun sometimes.
-
@Sunny I get more shit done when I work from home. My cats can't bug me more than my coworkers even though they try their best.

You know that scene in The Man from UNCLE while infiltrating the factory, where Solo just looks over at Kuryakin and asks in a bewildered and plaintive tone, "...why?"
Yeah. Picture that as a response here. Same exact tone.

Flyers fans have to have something to look forward to.
(Yes, I will continue to zing if I can zing because hockey is my jam.)
