That is AWESOME. I am super happy to hear that for you.

Pretty much nobody but other parental figures/carers will care--but. My final child just peed and pooped in the toilet after telling me he had to go. No more diapers is finally on the horizon again. At least until old age.
-
Overheard locker room gym chat.
"I don't get why people don't come work out 'cause they think they're gonna be judged. Unless you're a hot girl, lift a ton of weight or smell bad no one knows you exist."
It's true! Most folks around me are mentally classified as 'person currently using the squat rack' or 'person waiting for the squat rack'. The rest are background noise. Sometimes I exchange manly nods with guys whose faces I kinda recognize but whose names I of course neither know nor care to.

This is one of those things that are directly contradicted by recent news. There was a supermodel or model or whatever who fat-shamed a woman at a gym, posted her picture online all over the place, etc.
Anecdotal vs. Anecdotal, you know?
-
@Coin That's the exception that confirms the rule. That woman by the way is really stupid - what she did was actually illegal on top of everything else. How insecure do you need to be to do that?

Yes and no. Shaming doesn't need to be publicized and go out on social media to actually be a problem for the person being shamed.

@Coin There's no denying even the perception of judgement, whether true or not, can deter people - perhaps even some of whom could benefit the most from working out - from going to the gym. So incidents like this actually hurt more specifically because of how much attention was given to it since they propagate that impression despite the fact it's rather atypical.
Yes, it's anecdotal (given there's probably no objective way such data can be collected) that most gym-goers wouldn't care, notice or do anything to demean someone trying to improve themselves but it's a common impression reported by most people on the subreddits I keep track of; it's not to say this Playboy bunny was the only person to ever stoop that low (although taking a picture of someone showering was a ... novelty), there are occasional rants about things insecure assholes who aren't even fit themselves say to others, but... it's rare.
From my personal experience it's far more common for females who seem to know pretty well how to exercise receiving unsolicited help by concerned bros - come on, guys - than anyone to be glanced at twice because they pack more pounds than is ideal or whatever.
For the record the worst gym-goers tend to be teenagers and men in their forties. Everyone is self-absorbed to some degree but those two demographics excel at it.

As Karl Popper once wrote, "It is impossible to work out in such a way that you cannot be perceived to be judging."

After 12 years, I finally got to order more tiny anodized titanium jump rings to play with for the jewelry business.
Oh hells yes. YES. ALL THE SHINY. Or specifically not shiny in this case, which is kinda the point.

My daughter took me to a concert yesterday.
We saw Cheap Trick, Joan Jett and Heart.
It was a good time. -

Batman founds the Justice League on his own
Welp, I'm out... though I like their Barry, though he's more of Bart's personality.
Wonder Woman in WW2
This one I like better. Much better. Also, yay Etta Candy!

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them trailer

I must say, I like. Also, am I the only other person who is planning an early day on the 31st for the Cursed Child book?

Give the board's rotten font size handing and my eyesight, I of course read that as "Fantastic Breasts" and wondered if people were still talking about going to the gym.
-
@Bobotron maybe before i read the synopsis of the play

It's actually WWI, not WWII.

Found a cool word that basically means "shitting one's pants in public".
Friend doesn't believe that the word Is A Thing because the only google hit was The Urban Dictionary.
I produce the 1626 edition of The English Dictionarie: Or, an Interpreter of Hard English Words, The Second Edition, Revised and Enlarged. By H. C. Gent, which shows the word Was A Thing.
I realize I do research for fun.
What am I doing with my life?
-
@Vorpal What kind of person makes that post and neglects to mention the word?
-
And the word of the day is imbulbitate
There, fixed it
-
Anne Rice imbulbiated all over the Amazon.com review section in 2004.
(I just read this again. Hilarious.)
