This is really disappointing, considering Gany and Derp both joked in it. It was locked because it brought up a very real grievance with an admin. There are many threads in the hog pit specifically made to talk about a single person, and the distinction between staff on a GAME being fair targets and staff on this board not being fair targets is a bad call.

The locking of the thread in politics was just as disappointing, because it wasn't locked for the reasons you posted. It wasn't vitriolic. You locked it because an admin was acting a fool and people were calling them out.People who did not have Derp blocked before now cannot block him, because he is an admin.
This is a problem, and you need to deal with it.

Their board? Their rules? Isn't that what is preached on Arx deeming content? Is skirting around a locked thread to complain ban worthy?

I interpreted the locks as a pause (on acting a fool?) so that this all can be dealt with. It's a Tuesday morning, and not a particularly good Tuesday.
@buttercup This place isn't Arx. For one thing, the documentation is much better.

This is entirely fair. It is not, however, what was listed as the reason for locking the original thread. Nor the one I'm referencing, tbh.

No. I locked it for the reasons I stated. I am aware of the opinion that was raised; I'm aware of the reactions to it; and I am aware of what sort of fire that particular opinion is going to cause. And, no, I haven't an interest in debating the outcome, why it is wrong-thinking, or my thoughts as to what such an egregious leak will do to the state of the United States' governance.

My response to Devrex and Saosmash's discussion was not a comment on whether the thread was opened or should have been opened. The call to close it was made by mietze, and I support it. And dealing with the situation is what I am doing right now, and when the situation has been dealt with to my satisfaction, the thread may or may not be reopened.

I do agree that Derp was out of line in the Current Events thread.

I do agree that The Hog Pit is very much not the place to bring issues with an admin to Gany or the rest of the admins. I think maybe that should be handled in PMs, or perhaps in a different category of MSB, since not everyone on MSB wants to be a part of The Hog Pit, and shouldn't be forced to be part of the Hog Pit to address issues with the people that spend their free time and not free money making sure we have MSB.

@misterboring He gave an unemotional and pretty straightforward situational analysis. It was not good news, but he said it was not good news. People chose to read it all sorts of strange ways. He never took it personal. It was immediately taken personal on him though. If there is only one acceptable answer to a statement—“there there I am sorry you are sad”—then I am not sure a thread designed for debate or analysis is the place to post it. I wonder if people would be so comfortable reading an unemotional statement of legal procedure as an attack if it had come from a woman. Or if we are now taking the stance that if you do not tow an exact party line that everyone who does not is now “out of line.”

Why? He was essentially told to sit down and shut up. It’s a valid question. Or maybe I should be asking if an unemotional legal analysis would be taken as an attack if made by anyone but Derp.
He was not told to sit down and shut up. He was asked not to respond in such a condescending manner by asking someone "How is this surprising?" when someone was being upset at a major political moment. Most of his initial post could have stood without anyone being bothered, I think, if not for the explicitly unempathetic opening implying that someone was stupid for being upset.

The list of things one can get banned from MSB for is pretty short. They are all like "don't be a complete creep", and have nothing to do with bypassing locked threads.
