Mage 2E Game - Set in San Francisco
-
I'm relaunching Golden Road to be something different.
It's going to be a 2E Mage the Awakening game set in San Francisco. There will be a focused metaplot that will run via episodes.
I'm still rejiggering the code and building the SF grid, but I'd love to tell stories.
Stories in the meantime will be more preludes for characters. I'll run stuff for people while people figure out their stats. I think it'll be fun.
If you're interested, just say hi.
goldenroad.mudhosting.net port 4201 is the address.
I'm looking for someone to help with the wiki. Maybe down the line we'll introduce other splats, but for now, it's all mage, all the time.
-
By “something different” do you mean scrapping the existing theme, I.e. university and alternate watchtowers and whatnot in favor of book mechanics, or something different?
-
@Derp Totally scrapped the school and extra watchtowers. It's closer to RAW, but it's set in the Bay Area.
The metaplot involves the spirit of the city. I have a plot outline setup and things will be episodic for the PCs involved.

... like, Monday Night RAW?
Just kidding. I am interested, but I just don't have the time right now. Will keep in touch, though.

Hmmm, sounds fun.
-
Bookmarked! We'll see where my time goes over the next week or so.
-
I don't know Mage. I have never played 1st CoD, 20th WoD, or 2ed CoD. I'd be interested to learn, so maybe I will take a look at this when it gets off the ground.

@Alamias
I'm always willing to teach people how to mage. So it's all good! -
Rostered characters?
I like the idea of putting together rostered characters where certain skills are put together already. The concept would be there, leaving the player to set the merit points (for merits, gnosis, etc), and also set the starting arcana.
However, the skills, attributes, and general concept would be there already?
Would that make things easier for people? Or is it a bad idea?
-
I don't think it is a bad idea, but I would keep the roster small. I would also allow players to roster their own PCs for later or for others' use.

Ehnnnn. I would disagree with Gany on this one. I’ve never seen rosters done well in WoD. It usually starts a lot of drama and causes a lot of interpersonal friction. If players need examples just put up a few example sheets with backstories, don’t make them full-on rosters and DEFINITELY don’t let other people pick up someone else’s PC.

Updates:
+Sheet and CG are working. Stats still need to be updated to include merits from the latest Mage 2E books.
Could use help on:
If anyone likes/loves building/descing, I could use help on that. I'm not doing things super granular, but using the general neighborhood map of San Francisco + the cities going down to South Bay (Palo Alto/Mountain View) and East Bay (Oakland/Berkeley).
IF people are interested or want to chat, it's still using the same Golden Road address from before. Just realize it's a WIP. But I can start telling stories in the Temp RP rooms as a means to take a break from building/coding.

Look forward to seeing people!

Update:
I have the grid built. Just need to finish descing, at least for San Francisco proper and to transfer it onto the game.
Storywise:
1:1 preludes are being told while people chargen. Right now, I want to focus on Adamantine Arrows, Mysterium, and Free Councilors. I have some things for GoTV, but I don't know jack about Silver Ladder.
So if you're looking to make a character, I'd go with one of the three (AA, MYstie, FC) for now. I have an approved GOTV who will get missions and whatnot, but I have to admit where my weaknesses are from an ST perspective.
I hope to see people soon!
-
@chibichibi I’ll be super in when/if Ladder opens! I’ve been kinda itching to play Mage again! I promise to not make any zombie armies, maybe just a small platoon or three. Nothing bigger than a Battalion I swear!
-
@chibichibi Call me always on the lookout for a Mage game. 2.0 is still a little rough for me but I'll definitely start drafting up some thoughts for Frisco area.
-
But zombie battalions are the best battalions.
