That's exactly what gel is for! As soon as you cure that top coat under the light for 45 seconds, your nail polish is hard as a rock and good to go. You can touch crap, do dishes, whatevs. It's amazeballs.

Rough day. No one specific thing, just in general. Very tired and worn out. I'm pretty tired of fighting my own battles, dealing with the shit people start with me, being told I'm just a vile bitch, being fucked with, toyed with, confused, fighting other people's battles, and being dead last on everyone's priority list. I'm so thankful my best friend has a tolerant husband. She has a husband, three kids, a house that got flooded and she still makes time for me. Why can't anyone else?
It's only Tuesday and I'm already throwing a sweet pity party.

@silentsophia Many banks waive a fee if you do a direct deposit a month. Sometimes more than one. You can make this happen by opening a savings account or even another checking account at another bank and moving money back and forth between them.

If you have military family, USAA is legit. Or if you're near San Antonio.

I won't go into the details of my work but I feel pretty dissatisfied with the locale I'm in. It is just stagnant and not to mention that the higher ups are incompetent. Waiting on a transfer to another city sucks ass. Not to mention that my colleagues, most of whom have better positions, pay, etc. are all telling me I should be satisfied. What the hell?

@BigDaddyAmin Welcome to my pity party. We don't have cookies but we have Quest bars which are awesome. Sometimes you just need a minute to feel sorry for yourself before you get it together to make shit better.
Place dissatisfaction is pretty major. It's not an easy fix. Here's to things getting better!

It has been like this for a good three years now. My wife and I have tried several things, not to mention taking up odd jobs (mostly as an adjunct professor at the local community college) to not only help ends meet but to just boost my own self-esteem. Wife working at the moment isn't feasible as she is practically a stay at home mom but eventually she'd like to get back into editing and publishing (her previous work before we moved out here and got knocked up). There isn't a lot of that here where we live, though she essentially runs freelance stuff on the side.
In the meantime, while I wait for my transfer, I've put in some resumes, particularly with one position here in town which is like our last ditch effort to make a home here. If it doesn't work then we are waiting on the transfer. If it does work then in the very least I can kind of tell my employer to go fuck himself because obviously he didn't find me of value to begin with.
It isn't the fact of where I am that is so bad as much as it is my colleagues telling me to be satisfied. I think if they were in my shoes they'd see it differently.

I think your colleagues should push you a little more -- not to be satisfied, but to be not satisfied. That's why successful companies offer benefits like paid education and the like, so that their employees feel like they are growing, even if their jobs are menial and repetitive.
Nothing is worse than feeling like one is taken for granted, and I sense that's what you're feeling. I'm sure you'll find a job that doesn't make you feel that way, in the same or a different field. MIke Rowe has some interesting thoughts about investing oneself into one's job, rather than seek others, but he'd probably be the first to admit that you ought not stay in a place that's actively holding you back.

Christopher Nolan
OK, again not fair. He made a few films I like, despite each one of them having a fairly deep structural flaw at some point or another. He's ambitious and he's trying new(-ish) things and I've got to respect him for that. He's not the super-film-genius-of-this-or-any-other-century he's made out to be, but he's a pretty good film craftsman. But that "he's made out to be" allows me to finally identify the real peeve…
Christopher Nolan Fanbois
Holy shit what an obnoxious bunch of turds! It's not possible, in the mind of a CNF, to dislike a Christopher Nolan film because, you know, you dislike some aspects of his work. No, the only reason that you could possibly not like a Christopher Nolan film is that you're stupid. I made the mistake of checking a few reviews of Interstellar after I watched it to see if I was maybe over-reacting to some of the things I found hinky in it. Wow, did I not expect the festering pool of fanboi pus that I found! In massive screeds (longer than a @HelloRaptor post!) with many correctly-spelled words I learned that I found Interstellar a bit lacklustre because I don't know the laws of … and I quote! … "phsychics [sic] and black holes" and thus didn't understand the movie.
The problem, of course, is that I understand the laws of "phsychics" just fine. And indeed this is part of why I think the "realism" of the film is overhyped. There's loads of physics that got done wrong. (Indeed you can easily point out which parts of the films got vetted by their pet physicist and which parts they didn't bother double-checking on.) And, also, apparently, "love transcends time and dimension" is a law of "phsychics" to this crowd of manboi [sic] macaques.
Seriously, what is it about Christopher Nolan in particular that makes his fanbois so utterly fucking repugnant as human beings?
