Reactions to 08192015 Update

The reality is the forum software itself needed to be updated, and the new version has a new look/skin. But when you have issues as Miss D pointed out, you kind of have to update the forum version that likely has fixes in place. Having issues with user's caches isn't the new version not working that needs to be tested out, it's the reality of literally any updates on the web. Testing environments don't fix the need to do hard refreshes and sometimes clear caches.
People are being really nasty on this thread, wtf.

After switching to Cosmo themes, I am content.

@Miss-Demeanor I'll just say this last, since this IS the Announcement forum, and getting into a scrap here isn't what it's intended for. Fuck you. You're not a moderator. And on top of it, you yourself have done your share of pissing and moaning both in this thread, and other forums than the Hog Pit. So, take your opinions and your attempts to look like you're important and fuck right off.
No matter how anyone tries to spin this, an upgrade was done that was of questionable need, and worse, it was pushed live with a theme that literally prevented multiple people here from being even abe to read the forums. That is bad policy, and until or unless the administrators decide otherwise, I have the ability to state my opinion of it. If you don't like it? Quit your bitching or go elsewhere.

Automatically jumping you to the newest post while you're in the middle of reading old stuff is the most convenient thing ever! Along with hitting refresh to make the big pictures turn into teeny pictures! We certainly don't need a Sarcastica font to display tone. Certainly not.

I give the lastest change a big thumbs up, the one between my last post and this one.
The ginormo pictures are gone and everything is readable and the unread thread thingsin is back up top. -
@GamerNGeek You're absolutely right. I was upset, at first. Then I calmed down and started asking questions instead of hurling accusations. Those questions were answered, I followed the responses, and look at that! It works! I have a skin that isn't blinding me, I can access, read, post, upvote, everything... and all without a single issue. Which would be why I'm speaking from a position of someone who WAS upset then realized I was overreacting out of a kneejerk feeling of anger and upset for things not immediately working how I wanted them to.
This upgrade, if you look at Roz's post, was not questionable. It was needed. Yes, the initial startup was rough but that happens with a lot of new software. They've smoothed out a lot of what was causing issues and shown everyone what to do to fix the remaining issues. That you personally don't like what you would have to do to fix the issues doesn't make the update bad or unnecessary.

@ThatGuyThere I may need you to walk me through fixing it, then, because I can't figure out anything anymore. I didn't even know how to edit my own posts until the refresh trick was pointed out to me.

@Jennkryst I honestly did not do anything.
I use firefox. I posted earlier dthis mornign complaining. Then ran some errends and went out to lunch away from the computer came back fired up the site and it had changed for the better. I credit the Glitch/whoever is working one it.
When it comes to computers I am a competent end user at best so likely not much help. -
The 'giant square avatars' thing was fixed for me after a wipe of browser data.
-
It's still too fucking small. If someone can tell me how to increase the damn font size , or install another skin with a larger one, without using ctrl-scroll wheel (which makes it impossible to review old posts while replying), I'll be not unhappy with this.

@Jennkryst
Firefox: Cick on the triple horizontal lines in the upper righthand corner of the browser, then click Options, click on the Advanced Tab on the lefthand side, under Cached Web Content header click the button on the right that says Clear Now. Then refresh MSB.Google Chrome: Click the triple horizontal lines in the upper righthand corner. Click on settings. Click on Advanced Settings at the bottom of the page. Under the Privacy heading, click Clear Browsing Data.
Internet Explorer: Click on the gear (Tools) in the upperrighthand corner of the browser. Click Internet Options. And here's where I'm unsure. I -believe- n the General tab, you may just need to delete your Browsing history. Then refresh MSB. If that doesn't work, there's one other thing you can try. On the Content tab, there's an AutoComplete header, you may need to click the Settings and clear that out. After that, I'm not sure what else to suggest. I tend to not use IE, I really dislike it personally, but one of those SHOULD work.
After you've cleared the cache and refreshed MSB, click on your profile pic in the upper righthand corner of the MSB page. Click on your name. Click on Settings. Then pick the skin you like from the dropdown box. You can preview all of them by clicking on them. Go through til you find one you like. Hit Save Changes down at the bottom of the page.

Shit, you have to hit save after switching skins? Ok, size issue fixed. I'd have realized that had I tried using one that used different colors.

@TNP You're welcome!

@Glitch
Agh. Is there a skin that makes it look like a forum again instead of like the comments section of a youtube video?Visual aesthetic is displeasing.
-
That would be a Theme. Layout comes with Themes in nodebb terms.
-
@HelloRaptor No.
-
Wow. This was absolutely horrible!
-
@GamerNGeek Weird. I've had MushClient for over a decade now... and I sure as hell have updated it, and had to change things around. Then there's downloading it again here and there as well... how about you bitch at the forum devs and not our forum moderators.
-
I know my stuff is fixed, and it's worlds better across the board. (An extra thank you to @Glitch for clearing stuff to fix it.)

Not unlike the way MU* treat staffers who make changes on games.
