Reactions to 08192015 Update

Is anyone else getting a thing where the numbers and arrows to click around between pages is getting partially cut off by the bottom of the page? Its making navigation from one page to another a bit of a pain.
Edit: Is this a really new version? It seems -really- buggy. Half the time I click to return to my last position I get an internal error. And now I've had to refresh the page just to have the ability to post or have unread topics drop from the unread list after viewing them... and for that I lost the boxes around individual posts as well as the color in the header.

Well now that the switch was mentioned to turn the side panel menu always on it has become usable again but I have to say with the new update this is now by far the ugliest of the four boards I check regularly.

What's with the giant avatars?

I've changed the theme to the base theme that comes with this version of the software to try and make sure it is at least functioning for everyone. There's not much to be done about the look and feel, but you can go to your individual user page -> settings -> select-skin and choose a color palette that might appeal more.
-
@Arkandel I switch the theme, so a refresh should clear it out.

I DON'T LIKE CHANGE.

I'm not getting any option to select a skin or choose a color palette...

Make sure you've refreshed/cleared cache. On top of annoying everyone, the theme changes also make the css a little awkward due to browser caching.
-
Moderately better. The readable skin is, in fact, readable as far as size goes and still makes replying possible while going back to posts.
-
Looks better for me this morning than it did last night. The weird, giant, middle-of-screen avatars are gone and it's possible to navigate without flailing again.
-
Thanks Glitch! Worked like a charm. Kinda digging the Slate skin.
-
Things are looking much better now, for me anyways, on firefox.
-
Yeah, the clearing cache helped, though it just makes me feel old by having to up the size for the text. Some skins are worse than others for it.
-
Nope, I don't like it.
That's my vote.

So we had a forum that worked for everyone, and replaced it with one that works for a number less than everyone, and makes everyone go through extra steps, and changed things we were familiar with because....?
Sometimes leaving things that work alone is the better answer.
-
There were people that didn't like how it functioned or looked when we first started, either. As far as I can tell, it does indeed function for everyone since the latest theme change and that is the only real issue I intended to address when switching themes.
It seems like several issues were mostly caused by browser caching. Regardless, I'll leave this theme since it at least allows some personal choice in skin selection, if not complete theme layout.
As a heads up, however, the forums will be upgraded on a periodic basis.

You know, at first I was miffed over the sudden changes and occasional issue. But then I thought about it and realized that the only time I get an error or Bad Gateway is likely when one of the Admin's is doing something with the forum itself. Tweaking the new setup or the like. Everything else is really no different than setting up a new MUSH client the first time you use it. So chill, man. The new setup is no worse than the old one, people were having issues with the old one as well, so it didn't acutally 'work for everyone'. I know new is scary and all, but don't jump straight to the arm-flailing doom-saying. Chill out, follow the whole TWO steps mentioned, and give them some time to see how it pans out.

I'm okay with the changes (was fine with ones last night, I'm curious as to why it worked for some and not for a bunch of others?).
However, the giant square avatars are really disconcerting and actually make it hard for me to track threads, because they don't lineup with anything. They're just plopped down into the thread. Is there anything that can be done about them to make them less obtrusive?
Even if it's turning them off for myself.
ETA: Apparently, I just need to refresh every thread. Okay, got it.
ETA: I don't know if this has already been mentioned -- I don't feel like combing back through everyone's whinning.
But if you're like me and you had to refresh the categories page every time, or every thread, and every page of the thread to get it to look right -- you can clear your browser cache and it'll fix it. (If you didn't already know. And if you don't know how to do that typically: Settlings > Advanced > Somewhere in there.)

@Miss-Demeanor You know what? Once I set up my Mush Client? It works. And then I leave it alone. Ans the whole "it's only two steps" is horseshit. Clearing your browser cache is inconvenient as shit, since it clears a bunch of the things you autofill on sites. Having to inconvenience myself and re-enter data for dozens of sites because of ONE that decided it needed to break shit that already worked ISN'T COOL. If you want to upgrade things? Make sure they WORK first. That's what testing environments are for. Not pushing things to live.

This new forum template works just fine.. once you set it up. Hence the comparison to a -new- MUSH client. If the old one breaks, you would find a new one and set it up. The old forum template -didn't work for everyone-. People were having issues even being able to just log in. Others were having issues with being able to go to their last read post in a given thread. So sorry that this is inconvenient for you, but the old forum was a bigger inconvenience for more people than you. So either roll with the changes or go elsewhere. Either way, quit your bitching, this isn't the Hog Pit.
