Kinds of Mu*s Wanted

I remember kind of liking the Witcher 1's combat, though its years and years ago now. Getting the timings right and whatnot. I havent touched it since it came out, though. My main gripe was all the bugs at release.

I'm still trying to play Witcher 1. If the controls for Witcher 3 are better than Skyrim, then a lot has changed because the control and combat scheme for Witcher 1 is pretty bad. A lot about Witcher 1 has been bad for me, so I can't confirm or deny the desire to play in a game based on it.
Witcher 3 is vastly improved from Witcher 1 and 2. In the first two games the combat felt like novel experiments that didn't quite work out while in the third it all feels pretty fluent and awesome.
I thought the controls for Witcher 2 were a big improvement over 1, but some of the maps were horrible. Loc Muinne made me quit the game.

Something set in the Borderlands universe. Pandora could be a lot of fun to play around on.
A superhero/comic book game that wasn't taken over by insane and/or creepy people
An all original or OC-only superpowers/superhero game. Maybe set in a school of some kind.
A science fiction game set on a space station or in a spaceport city. Something like Deep Space Nine or Mos Eisley without being in either of those universes.
A Final Fantasy Mu* but not one set in any of the specific games. Like take the rules on how classes and magic and monsters and all that work from one game and apply it to an original world.

Hey Scourge, have you checked out Emerald Bay? It's all OC superheroes, M&M 3E. It's left for dead for a bit and we're reviving it slowly but surely.
-
@Kay I haven't heard of it before now. I'll give it a look when i get a little more free time. Thanks for the info!

I've been reading through the rules for Straight To VHS and think this would make for a really fun mu.
All the players could play actors in films (Tiny Plots), only the films are REAL! Or something. I like the idea of Character A playing a cop in one plot, and a burgler in another, getting meta-miffed because they don't have a particular skill that would come in handy in a situation.
-
@SG Oh hell this looks like fun! Combine it with Cartoon Action Hour for total insanity
-
Requires too much continuity of the Audience, eg the players who witness what the various actors are up to. You'd have logging, and then night mandatory reading to follow anyone's career.
-
Only films (tiny plots) that are logged and posted to wiki make it to distribution (Oh gawd, the sex tapes!).
Not all actors would care about other actors' filmographies, though some may become jealous of certain roles and try to steal scenes.
Somehow, they don't realize their films ARE REAL! I'm thinking like a really screwy Truman Show/Last Action Hero or something.

To revive a dead topic because.. OMG! I would totally be into a Highlanders Style mu*.... Although, it might not work given the goal is basically pvp.

PVP game would be the best...

Create a Sanctity of Character rule and people can get beheaded and roll into a new Highlander. Beheadings for everyone! Wednesdays are Whack Nights, where everyone beheads in a big group. Saturdays are ReSubmit Saturdays, where you party in the OOC submitting new Highlanders for the next week.
-
I am not a fa of PvP. I just like the Highlander angle.
-
@icanbeyourmuse
Is there a highlander angle outside of taking heads? That's sort of the entire goal of the series. There can be only one, and the others aren't just going to kindly decapitate themselves. -
Probably not. THat is why I don't feel like it would work well as a mu*. At least for me. Maybe others.
-
A while back, I was reading a paper about trading card games, and one of the ones covered was the Highlander game. It actually sounded like a solid game, cards for different moves and all that jazz. The person being studied was a bit obsessive, and started taking kendo lessons IIRC.

"A werewolf stalks the mean streets of Miami... but not for much longer. Not if a nun (and former prostitute) named Gloria Vendetta has anything to say about it. Gloria’s cybernetically enhanced buddy in the precinct suspects the werewolf is being protected by Yakuza, but why? If only the retired heavyweight champion Tucker Smash could regain his memories. He was the only one who knew the antidote to lycanism, and now the plague is spreading."
You had me at "werewolf is being protected by Yakuza."
-
@somasatori 'Gloria Vendetta'? 'Tucker Smash'?
This has the makings of a masterpiece.

Wednesdays are Whack Nights, * * * .
Would attract too many Shang folks. I'm out.

Highlander would benefit from A) not being set during the gathering (look at the show Immortals have friendships, even the headhunter types often have a few friends amongst the immortal crowd) which removes the immediacy of the whole decapitation frenzy and 2) Flash backs are your friend. Most of Fitz's appearances were flashbacks made after his death. Ultimately if you can find a way to play up the duality of 'I'm going to outlast everything around me' with the 'There are lunatics who want to cut off my head to kill me and absorb my lifeforc' angles without killing PC's every few scenes it could be fun.
As an aside has anyone else ever noticed how quickly New Immortals seem to accept the idea of decapitating people?
