@Arkandel I think you mean beipmu wins the ghetto award. Can't believe people use it.

BeipMu had the merit of being an incredibly small program. It fit on a diskette and had room left for text files which made better than raw telnet at work.

I just use Potato. I used to use MUSHClient. SimpleMU was before my time. From my understanding, it's nearly impossible to get the full version anymore.

Racism isn't Tinkerbell. It doesn't need you to believe in it for it to exist.

Hey, I'm not saying that I have any personal experience with SimpleMU. Again, it was before my time. I'm just citing others who've said that it's nearly impossible because of something something can't buy the activation code, or whatever. I'm sure there are ways around
that, depending on who you know, or whatnot, but just getting it without the benefit of someone pointing you toward whatever secret trove there is out there has been noted as being difficult.

I have a key that still works every time I need to reinstall on a new computer (it's from 2002, first thing I ever bought with a credit card). I've sent it to friends, and it works for them. Lots of folks I know with registered versions of SimpleMU will do the same, if they have the key laying around.

It IS admittedly impossible to get it by actually buying it now, and you will never receive one if you try.

I use SimpleMu when I'm on Windows, and Mukluk when I'm on my Android.

@Three-Eyed-Crow What does the key actually do? I've found the trial version to be everything I've needed it to be.

@SG The biggest draw I know of that folks have is the live spell-checker.

I used the unregistered version for a very long time. I have to admit, the spellchecker is nice to catch my typos.

I use Potato. I like it, it reminds me a lot like SimpleMU. And I would go back to that if it was ever updated, but that seems pretty unlikely.

                          MUSH-free since 02/2017

This may or may not change in the future.

The inline spellcheck is the main thing, yeah. You get other odds and ends but they tend to be things other clients have as standard now anyway (like the built-in Notepad-like Text Editor).

Good replies, thanks. I was not aware SimpleMU was still such a commonly used client.

It's modern and the developer seems pretty responsive. Which is a big enough deal for me that I'd like to support it, even if it's not perfect.

Also, the stuff on this chart, though a lot of this is stuff I don't notice as a casual user.

Alright, fair enough. That's an important feature.

I'm afraid that I couldn't stand Potato. It seemed to me to try and stuff too many features while fleshing too few of them out. I liked the features that it has, but since I have Atlantis, I can't see wanting anything else. (Much @Sparks love, always.)

Copy and paste out of the Mac - that's why Potato annoys me. That and the dual-entry text fields - but I know most folks love that. I always, always, on every launch, switch it to single field.
