Getting into a nasty, dirty battle of words with someone IC and it being entirely IC, with OOC checkins and making sure everyone is having fun. NoahPlayer, my hat's off to you.

Getting to circle back on story threads that began literal years ago. Continuity's so hot.

An action result that totally imbalances your character and has them send a messenger begging for someone to come immediately is awesome.

It was an action I put in based on a theory someone else inspired. I didn't know what to expect from it. The result is great (well, not great for Teagan, but XD).

No no, no death involved. Plenty of blood tho. Chessa's gonna be complaining about all the cleaning for a while.

Actions results that suggest someone really gets your character, but also don't mind torturing them a little bit.

Man, I held on to a character for like a year just because I felt like staff GOT him and liked writing for him, and I was into what I was getting when I had time to pursue it. Ultimately let him go out of guilt because I didn't feel like I was devoting enough brain to do him up right, but the nice thing about rosters is that he seems to be thriving out in the world after I unsunk my claws from him, which is a cool feeling even if I'm a little sad sometimes.

It's been a really long time that the vast majority of my RP, when I could get it, has been largely the kind where I feel am largely a speed bump for someone else to get a nice little bit of air to break up their zooming off to a more interesting agenda item, or like I might as well not been there at all, since my presence while marginally required, wasn't really desired and would not have been missed if I wasn't. I mean everyone has scenes like that once in awhile, but it's been kind of a morale killing constant for me for quite some time now. At least until the last week or two, when I've had a number of scenes now that were low pressure even though there might have been IC tension in the scene, delightful regardless of the core of the emotion/happenings in the scene, and most importantly people seemed interested in actually RPing with me rather than /at/ me. I think I've mentioned to the folks involved how wonderful I found playing with them to be. I wish I could say it over and over again without being weird. And it probaby would be weird since a lot of them are people that honestly I have not really RPed with much before, or who I hadn't at all, in addition to folks that I know well. It is nice to have more times when MUSHing gets to be a fun escape/immersing myself into another world with a scene partner(s) who really seemed to enjoy my company too. When mushing hits that sweet spot, there's really nothing like it.

I've been mulling the past couple days over what it is that I really like about Euphoria. I mean, I enjoy the theme, but there's been something else. Some reason that's caused me to nudge at friends that they should check it out when they have the time/energy.

                            It's the buy-in.

So often these days it feels like RP exists in a vacuum. Your pose is only acknowledged so long as it pertains to / aids / assists someone else and if a Staff NPC / metaplot event is present, you may as well forget about 'existing.' I know I've absolutely (on Arx this happens in almost every big scene I go to) spent entire scenes where 90% of my poses are to... myself. I had a scene on another game recently where I went to a public event, roughly 8 people. I posed in, someone acknowledged me! Gasp! And then a friend of theirs showed up and they never responded back to anything else (leaving a thread of conversation dangling, even).

But on Euphoria, there's buy-in. People will engage with you. People will pick up threads you didn't even expect and run with them. In an event scene, while trying to explain a concept, my character made a comment about 'You know how everyone sucks their stomach in...' and it was just sort of a flippant, silly way of explaining the idea. Another PC in the scene posed sucking their stomach in, considering it, deciding they were OK with their body, but experiencing that moment of self-doubt and oh gosh, that tickled me. It was a cute, funny pose and I felt flattered that my pose had been read.

So yeah, the engagement. I really, really dig the engagement and buy-in from the active players.

@Auspice I agree with you. Euphoria is a lot of fun. For me I can say that having a space exploration theme that is not tied to some existing franchise takes away a lot of the expectation and low key fear of getting canon wrong with other players waiting, crouched, to pounce on you with 'ackshually, tachyon is....!'

We're getting to create the details of the world as we go to a large extent (like systems of measurement and so forth) and I'm just happy to see what people will come up with as we go along.

I played in a big scene last night I originally never planned on playing in and it was actually very fun.

I am not one of those wildly popular players. But the friends that I do have are of the "Holy shit, you guys......" level of amazing, some in mind-boggling ways.

So thanks. I'm going to go happy-but-overwhelmed snot-cry because someone was unexpectedly nice to me on a really bad day.

So when Pica meets Norwood, this is what we're discussing --
