Realizing that you just entrusted a stranger with the future direction of your character and a- they have no idea this is the case and b-you know they are good at rp and c- there is no way any angle is going to be anything but fun. I literally have ZERO idea what is going to come of this thing that I just did except that it is very likely to be awesome and it's a thrill.

ETA: Like literally even if I get a 'no bad you are a crazy person stop this' it will be awesome to play so squee.

Participating in my first event in Arx and not only being able to follow, roll when appropriate(ish), and function, but also thoroughly enjoying myself doing all those things.

Thanks to a great batch of people for making this fun and painless and I'm looking forward to more.

Even after all the shit she's done, people still coming to Rinel for information. And, rarely, but still horrifyingly, for advice.

New players who are not only happy to have help learning the ropes, but are also kind and generous roleplayers enthusiastic about what the game/sphere is all about. Helps make up for all the people who just 'peer' passive-aggressively on channels and make no real effort to reach out.

Fresh blood and perspectives help me get out of my burnout and remind me of why the splat is supposed to be fun.

I try not to be a codependent RP partner but:

That one person you can scene with any day, any time, and no matter what the game, situation or character is you always have chemistry.

Even years later with adult lives and busy schedules, reuniting on another game, even briefly, brings that energy and magic all back.

Like at this point I realise I'm not even here for the game in question so much as here for the person. Which may sound obsessive and weird but I told them and they were just like, 'same tbh'. ❀

I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've been allowed or asked to really impact someone's RP in a seriously meaningful way, and the outpouring of thanks I got from that had me taken aback.

Someone came to me in last couple of days, their character looking to ask mine for advice and possibly direction. I, who am not exactly used to playing a leadership character in any serious way, agreed but internally I was seriously worried about not being able to help. Or worse, my help wouldn't be all that helpful.

During the agreed upon scene, I ended up paging a few other people asking for my own advice and spitballing ways that would make future RP for the character that came to me meaningful and enriching. The idea I came up with was refined by the people I spoke and once I set down what I thought they should do, after the scene they said they were very thankful for it.

I don't get that feeling very often. That sense of reward and accomplishment in doing something beneficial. Or at least, I don't hear about it. I'm really happy I was able to foster character development and good RP for another player.

That is, to me, one of the few reasons I still stick around this hobby.

I think this is perfectly normal.

I haven't played with Scissors in a few years, but I'm pretty sure we'll have instant chemistry when we do.

I like to write roster characters for a number of reasons, but one of the things that brings me the greatest joy is when stuff I wrote grows and builds. It feels like an act of collaboration. Many eons ago, I wrote a couple of characters with a strong relationship as part of a "set". I don't always write "sets" of characters for the roster because honestly it tends to make them harder "sells" -- just because people like characters where they can define things for themselves, and having strong relationships with other roster characters places a player in a position where they're hoping for a win in the roster "lottery".

Anyway, this post is about a couple of players who picked up a couple of characters I wrote, who have played them beautifully for like IDK years, and today there was a birth announcement on Arx where one of them named her child after the other one in a slightly punny way, and I'm just really happy about it, OK.

iluguys. Thank you for breathing dynamic life into stuff I made up a million years ago and making it your own.
