MU Things I Love
-
Thanks for the shoutout, @Ganymede. I still think our Starwars crew had some real potential for fun times.
I've generally found that in this hobby most people are pretty okay. There's the occasional shitty player/staffer, but by and large most aren't. In fact they'll stretch themselves pretty far to make shit fun for you if they feel you're trying to do the same for them.
And what I really love is that feeling you get when you've come across a random new person and the roleplay is amazing. I don't have to play with them all the time, and sometimes the follow up will only be from afar as circumstance IC/OOC dictates it, but just learning that there's yet another gem out there never fails to give me a thrill.
It feeds my belief that there'll always be another story to explore.

I largely stopped enjoying myself in this hobby about four years ago. That what I do can help other people from hitting this point is pretty much all that keeps me going.
You are a weird, grumpy old man.
This is true of a lot of us-- at least the weird/grumpy part and Theno's reasoning.

You'll always be my strongest code-crush, you know that.

MU Things I love? The people. I'm constantly amazed.
That post was fantastic. It warmed my heart. Sometimes Soapbox leaves me feeling really shitty and I wonder about whether I should be reading it at all. I want to learn more so I keep at it, but that was beautiful and made me look at this 'community' in the way I've wanted to. Trashing each other is tempting, the dopamine rush of bonding with someone over stuff that is horrible is undeniable. Going out of your way to say wonderful things to people doesn't come with that sweet hit, but it was just lovely. Thanks for doing it.

I just typoed, in a scene:
lawyer of awkward
My RP partner got excited over this typo. "There's a lawyer of awkward?! I have my next character concept!"
...All I can think of is @Ganymede.
-
When you're running a scene and you can tell your players are having fun with it just by their poses and their energy. IT'S A GOOD FEEL.
-
This isn't strictly MU*ing, but...
I wanna give a shout out to all the baby roleplayers out there on Tumblr and the like that provide us with a plethora of screencaps and GIFs we get to then comb through for our wikis.

I'm not awkward. I'm just so salacious that I make others awkward.

Ephraim@Reno
Dunno if he reads these boards. Barely know the guy.
But his poses in the scenes relating to the strix the past two nights were fuckin' stellar. And I know the scene/plot was difficult for him.So like, double the props.

The moment you come up with the pefect RP ship portmanteau, even if it's literally years too late:
Phyggy.

Phah, it's never too late. I dig it. I still go back to those logs when I'm on one of my random nostalgia trips. Good times.

I love my friends, who I never would have made without MU*s.
I love that I can meet someone on a MU* and now I'm gonna have scones with them on Sunday.
I love all you crazy kids.
That is all, carry on. I just really needed to share love.
-
@Meg I LOVE YOU.

I got it from Agnes
She got it from Jim
We all agree it must have been
Louise who gave it to him... -

The MU Things I Love thread probably shouldn't be on the second page of the list of threads. I'm going to make an effort to post in this thread more often, because despite all the gripes we have, we do keep coming back for more. So there has to be things that we love about our hobby. Or we have Stockholm Syndrome. Either way!
I don't dream often. Hell, I don't really sleep often. Two, three hours maybe, that's the norm. So when I do sleep a bit more than usual and I do dream? It's always amusing when those dreams happen to be about a game that I'm playing on. In this particular case it was a group of players, sitting around chit-chatting, and just discussing everything from plot predictions to who other players are.
It's that way that I discovered that apparently a PC's player on Arx is actually Ellen DeGeneres.
-
@Faceless I've actually had a few dreams over the years that led to cool scenes. Usually just some odd mental image that pops up in the dream and hits the right '...that would be cool, I'm gonna run with that!' nerve. Rare, but very much fun cool the times it happened.
More or less this conversation has happened more than once:
"Where'd that come from?"
"Dreamed it."
"Seriously?"
"Seriously."
"That's cool! ...dork. :P"
"You liked it, too! Dork. :P"

Shout out to @Royal here. I love when people notice flavor shit.
Fallen World. My character opted to leave a scene right around the time a werewolf brutally murdered someone:
Meanwhile, Intrigue is already on her way to the warehouse. She goes to turn on the radio to find there's still one of the kid's CDs in the player. Some sing-a-long begins blaring. "...well there goes the mood." It's hard being a private investigator and a stepmom some days.
An eyebrow lifts ever so slowly as Cash shows Demetrius her magic trick. The departure of Intrigue is noted with a little wave of a .38 Special. "That is absolutely fucked up." Says the vile masque of the former Guardian. Then claws. Then blood. Then more and he tilts his head aside ever so slightly. "Hey, you think his watch is worth anything?" A glance down as blood runs down the mans arm, over the watch... Grail sighs heavily. Defeated. "Of course not."
Lemme just shed a tear. Thank you, man. I appreciate the acknowledgement of the blaring children's music as she left the parking lot.

All nighters: When the RP is so good you forgo sleep until past sunup.

@Goldfish been there, done that. On a semi-regular basis. More often than not it's the birds tweeting and whistling that alerts me to the fact that it's 6:15am and false dawn's on the horizon. Then I realize I haven't had anything to drink in hours, because I was too distracted by the scene(s).
