I'll be honest I think pockets are better but cookies really push that issue.
Cookies.
Bags of Skittles.
Maybe even a whole host of snacks and a juice box.

Double-post to add for visibility:
It's also posted on the site that you can play your SCs in any event and it will earn you GP. So even if your PC isn't a fighter, a lot of PCs have bodyguard / other types of SCs who would be fighter types... Start sending them out instead (I know Buffy did this on the first night, with Chad). You earn GP that way.
There's plenty of ways to still be involved and earn GP.
I'll also point out: the PC with the most GP on the game (check his +sheet) is Victor. He's not been in a single +event. It's all from kudos.

I feel like this was referenced here before as a 'maybe this will actually be good once it's out.' So... hopefully.
I actually need to find the time/money to get to my doctor soon for med adjustments of what I'm currently on. Which is rapidly approaching 'max dosage.' So hey, maybe I'll end up trying this shit sooner or later.
My coworker apparently telling a user their computer is "pdf confused."
@auspice Touche. I think the other nerd group I stalk said they might be temporarily invading /r/MUD.
For the best. We have a few MUD players around (or those that sometimes play MUDs), but we def. aren't a MUD community.
But yeah, if people think we're bad... the TMC forums were like a bare-knuckled back alley fight.

The air pollution is so bad I can taste the particulates as soon as I go outside and the light cast from my skylights is rust orange on the carpet.
It looks like grey fog in the distance but it is not.
At least it's not as bad as Delhi or anything but I'm thinking about investing in a mask since I do a lot of apartment deliveries so that's a lot of exertion, and I have asthma!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LNHXLVE/
I had to buy one the last trip I made to SC because of the wildfires there (they were under strict 'if you have any breathing issues, do not spend time outside' rules) at the time and the few days the air quality was bad before I moved away from the Seattle area, it was handy there, too.
My asthma is very, very air quality dependent. That particular brand has a lot of fun patterns, too! But I'm boring so I got the black.

@auspice Not gonna lie, popcorn time in the Observation Deck is joy.
I mean, who doesn't 'no, no, don't split the party!' or 'awwww, damn, they're gonna get it... ' at horror movies?
Cheering on fellow players going through the classic horror tropes is a lot of fun, it really is.
But when you're the one in the scene, it's like:
'Are they cheering me on?' 'Did I do something they groaned at?' 'Did I do something they LIKED?' 'AM I THE ONE BEING TOLD 'NO GURL DON'T DO IT!'???'
THESE ARE THINGS I NEED TO KNOW.
Or did I make y'all laugh at any point?! Really that's the vital query.
I'm back with another 'DIVE IN THE DEEP END!' recruitment post!
http://horrormu.com/index.php/Archetypes
There's an event scene tomorrow! 8pm EST / 5pm PST. For the Hephaestus (mining ship) and the dock workers in the refinery.
A few Archetypes that are open fall under that!
http://horrormu.com/index.php/Explorer2/Chevalier - Heph XO
http://horrormu.com/index.php/Rebel2/Winterbourne - Heph Science Officer
(There's a bunch of Noc roles open too and they've got something big happening, but I THINK their scene is happening later this week.) However, lemme just say...
http://horrormu.com/index.php/Deviant1/Colby - Noc Fusion Tech
^ VERY IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW ^
.... like vitally so ....
There was a lovely little ST pose in the Weyland-Yutani scene:
Klaxxons sound, red lights kick on. "Containment breach in Tenochtitlan fusion reactor," says the ship's AI. "Docking umbilca damaged. Ship losing pressure." When Thorne closes the door and Thorson triggers decontamination protocols, the room seals and further locks down, a new door opening that leads to the decontamination chamber. For the moment it's the only way any of them can go.
So if you wanna jump right in tomorrow for an ST'd event, check out the Explorer or Rebel. But if you wanna make an entire space station SUPER HAPPY, check out the Deviant. Cause that fusion tech is, y'know, super important y'all.

My husband likes to do the whole 'but they're open another half hour!' bullshit, because he does not get this, and it drives me crazy. I've managed to educate him out of most of it, but still have to remind him much more than I'd like. There's a reason I steer him toward the 24 hour diner a lot.
I've known a few people in my life similar. I've never worked in the food service, but I've worked enough customer service (retail, call centers, etc.) that I know.
That last person in the store.
That guy that calls 5 minutes until the end of your shift and you're on the phone for an hour.
Don't do this shit (I know the last one isn't really something in your control, but the others are). It's just rude.
I knew a woman who would purposefully go to CostCo right before they closed because it's their policy not to make people leave. She did it because 'oh it means I have the whole store to myself!'
This is the woman who, when Walmart first began trialing 24/7 hours around Christmas season....... I once went along with her and her kids so I could get some Christmas shopping done (my mom didn't want to go out that day) and found myself stuck in walmart for EIGHT FUCKING HOURS.
So you can imagine what her CostCo trips were like.
Those poor fucking employees.

Its funny, because it made the predictable behavior of the probable-Custodius that much more laughable. Who are you even min-maxing to beat with your ridiculous, paper-thin character, brah? What do you think you're gonna win?
Was so glad he left. So, so glad.
@wizz said in Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.:
Acid flashbacks.
They're not scary anymore, they're not even all that bizarre, they're just really disorienting and kind of annoying to wait out now, all because my ex and I thought doing acid one time was a super great idea, like almost five years ago now.
That sucks. I'm glad they at least aren't frightening.
I did acid once (about seven? Eight? years ago?( and I've not had that happen thankfully. Honestly sometimes I kind of wanna do it again because the whole "orange juice is absolutely insanely amazing" thing is true. >.>
But then I remind myself that a) I'm in my thirties now, b) it could all go wrong a second time.
@goldfish said in Horror MUX:
@bored Someone tried to min-max?
Fucking LOL. Try-hards gotta try I guess.
The original Rebel (Eugene). He wrote his sheet before he even had his role/background for the first story. And it was basically fully written for min-maxing/combat/etc. Few of us were fairly certain it was Custodius.
shrooms, sadly, don't really do much for me. I've done them a few times. Though, it might be because I made them into a tea because, well. The taste. Most people I knew would put them on pizza to help. I tried twice and had some visual hallucinations, but no more than salvia ever did so it was like, eh. Whatever.
But like with all recreationals: ymmv!
MDMA is the one I really like because it's the perfect 'body high.' Hours of being wonderfully pain-free. >.>
@sunnyj said in Horror MUX:
Quite honestly, I doubt he is the only one in the game with that sort of sheet. More often than not that sort of player is just the unpopular one that got outed.
My big problem really was that he built his sheet before he even had his role/story. That was the sign of min-maxing / 'gaming' things in my book. The sheet should be built to the character.
But he also was simply playing in an antagonistic way. As people have mentioned in other places in the thread, the game is very 'PvE' with us working together and striving to survive. He was often working against everyone else and throwing wrenches in the works.
Being antagonistic is a valid play style in some regards, but in that particular story it just didn't really fit to that scale. He wasn't just that way in personality. He was practically villainous on a scale that didn't really make sense. I, personally, got dragged out of other scenes I was in to have to deal with him (as IC Head of Security)... which impeded on my own enjoyment of the game, but was done to help other people who were upset and frustrated with what he was doing.
Anyone who looks at pop music and immediately sneers and goes 'Ugh, music is so lazy now...' is just lazy themselves, IMO.
Pop music has always been that way. Pop music has always been a simple, catchy hook repeated.
You can't take a pop song of today and compare it to some rock ballad from thirty years ago.
I can go back to the fifties and find a pop song that repeats a single line, too! Just like I can find some amazing songs that have full versus, bridges, and hooks that tell a great story.
It's all in where you look, what you know. That's always been one of my biggest peeves. When someone puts up one of those fucking 'THIS IS WHAT'S WRONG WITH MUSIC TODAY!' images with a Nicki Minaj song next to some rock ballad from 30, 40 years ago. And it's like motherfucker I could do that with pop song from the 50s next to a halfway decent indie or b-side track from a good artist today.
(I mean let's take the chorus from Chordette's Lollipop, a song from 1958... that's basically what these people do when they do that shit.)
Ahem.
But yeah, that's basically what it boils down to.
If you want to find the message, it's there.
But what sells is the catchy stuff.
And that's the pop music. That's the dance tracks.
And that is how it has been since the advent of radio. It's nothing new.
I think I was the only person the faceburster really bothered and that's because of a specific issue I personally have.
However, @Botulism was very kind in giving me an advance warning because she's aware of said issue. So when the scene happened I just glossed over the pose and moved on.
So if you have personal squicky/trigger-y issues, I will say she's fantastic about giving a heads up if it might occur so that you can bow out of a scene or just sort of skim the pose in question.
@admiral said in What the fuck happened to Hip-Hop?:
...you guys are missing the point of the thread. Hip hop started as protest music. Now it's basically just disco. That's literally what the video was about. It's not about 'what sounds good'. It's about a form of expression that has lost its way. We now have idiots with rainbow hair and facial tattoos molesting children and rapping about it.
And what we're saying is that hip-hop is still out there.
It's just not what the media companies are pushing or what the kids are buying.
I was friends with a producer / artist in SC and what he and most of the guys he worked with made tracks about was the real shit.
I use RP to aid in my writing after a fashion. The way I do this is such that I use RP to try new things, new styles, new methodology.
