I find it really annoying when people act as though talking about memes IRL, or using them in casual conversation, is somehow out of line.

My only request is please no commands with + @ / = in them.
Arx fries my brain with its indecipherable syntax. Simple tasks become monumental chores because of code-like structure.
For unread stuff, what would be great is just one four-letter command:
NEXT
Show me the next unread thing.
Also let me specify which next unread thing I want to read.
NEXT JOURNAL
NEXT MESSAGE
NEXT INFORM
NEXT BOARD
downvote.
I mean forgetting that most things on Arx can be done without a + or @ and those are there for those of us who are habitual with them...
Typing 'NEXT BOARD' (with the implication you want all-caps for those) is much more of a hassle than bbnew or @mail #.
Also: it's cyberpunk.
Code is kind of... a thing.
The idea of stripping out the like, cyber aspect of cyberpunk makes me balk. I hate everything about this.

@Sunny @Auspice It resonated with me because it actually touches on the structure of society/work/etc being built around neurotypical, and how that just doesn't work for us, and forcing atypical to be typical does not work (stares at family). But I am mildly obsessed wityh the topic because I am seeing people for it now, and as Sunny mentions, the language is major, and as Auspice says... timelines?! You mean SORCERY?!
I admit I am super baffled how anyone could track their focus for a month.
if you're in the zone, you're not thinking to write it down
and when you're out of the zone......would you even remember?
I've tried tracking things before (food, migraines, etc...). it works for a day or two at best before I forget for a few weeks and then have an 'ah ha' try again for a few days....... usually the next time I remember after that I just give up entirely.

Honestly? I had a second during the Aldecaldo questline where I had to take myself aside and be like, "ok chill out dude, this is a fictional character, your love is not real"
I will never be able to date again because no one can compare to Panem.
@Wretched said in The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves):
@Auspice This is so much a thing. All my life people have told me to 'make a list' and 'use a calendar' ignoring the fact that i will forget to check/use/remember that they exist.
I use calendars. Emphasis on multiple. Google Calendar is always open with alerts on. It backs up to iCal. And I have a physical planner.
I still double-book myself with disturbing frequency.
And I love lists. I obsess over lists. That... is probably one of my focus zones. If I gotta make a list, I will dive in and tweak and tweak and tweak until perfection.
It's the 'keep track of X' that I can't do and it falls into a whole other category.

One thing I've missed from Lords & Ladies games are debuts or debutante balls. And, no, Kushiel games don't count, as their debuts are quite a bit different. New adults or almost adults get presented and introduced to the rest of noble society along with other adults or almost adults.
Most of the time, L&L games just have balls and parties for random reasons, when there was a social season to things. And a debutante ball is a good way to introduce new PCs to the game. Why haven't we ever heard of your character before? Oh, it's because you just debuted or are about to debut.
Yes!
Which is why I think opening the game with a debut would be an excellent way of things.
I think also, tbh, why not lean into peoples' desire to marry off? Oh you got engaged in a week? How fortunate that you caught someone's eye!
I've been on the verge of a panic attack all day and I don't know why.
It's just this aimless, antsy, little rabbit of a bundle fluttering in my chest non-stop.
I don't know why. I have nothing specifically to be anxious about. But I feel like the instant I'm somewhere quiet alone I'm gonna shatter.

Seems like a good place to lean into some unashamed soap opera melodrama.
In my notes I already have a draft for a policy file on 'Scandals'
Well.
I was in a fantastic mood.
But then I got home to an eviction notice.
It'll be fine.
I have the money.
But this fucking apartment makes it almost impossible to pay.
New management shortened the 'due date' from the 5th to the 3rd.
They're closed Sundays and holidays (which means yes, 2 days this week to pay).
You can ONLY pay via money order or a website that charges $30.
Which means for people like me who work during their 'office hours' (they close 'at 6' but usually they've bailed by 5:30 and I get home right around 6), your only option is the website. ('Hey, fuck you for having a job, pay a fee!')
I've been trying to call this week to work out paying in the office, somehow ('hey, can you guarantee you'll be there until 6 or 6:05?') except no one has been answering the phones or returning my calls when I call during the day.
So yes, I am in an absolutely foul mood coming home to an eviction notice after being 1 day late when I've been trying to call.
I just keep telling myself it'll be fine. I can still pay and go on my way, but fuck if I'm not mad about it.
Those aren't bad ideas, @Songtress, but it does feel like it moves a fair ways away from what I'm looking at doing.
When people think 'period' game, they don't think 'roman fantasy with magic'
It could be a cool game! It's just not THIS game.
(I also think it'd be done best outside of Ares. Maybe using the opensource stuff from Arx with modifications? But I plan to use Ares if I do this project because I'm lazy and sticking to a more 'pure' Regency concept would work.)
Also: I do think if I go ahead with this, we'll focus on the higher classes and not bring in commoners. That doesn't mean it'll be JUST nobility. There may be some other important figures (like really wealthy business owners, military figures and their families, etc) in there too.
Gotcha. Well, I'll see about reaching out to them. Thank you
Because I'm only here a few more months but god if I'm not dreading a repeat of this in October.
It's not often a scene makes me crack up, but having my bounty hunter on Cresh chatting with the guy he's putting in restraints about how damn weird another PC is.
It's a small thing. It's two poses of banter. But it has me giggling madly because I can so easily visualize it and it's perfect.

She's going the MIA route.
I can respect it. Touring is hard on all relationships and if you wanna be with your family? Need to give it up.
I'm sure we'll see plenty of her as a featured artist tho.
Oh, one thing I forgot...
For those that are not biologically female, but play female characters:
Losing one's virginity does not always hurt. For one thing, the hymen (the perceived source of pain) can be lost in childhood for many reasons. Horseback riding being a big one. The actual source of pain in many virginity loss situations is actually due to lack of proper lubrication (which can be an issue no matter what stage of life a woman is in).
Young folks (teenagers, yo) are rarely going to know or think about this... which is why losing virginity can often be attributed to pain.
So, if you're playing a female character and her partner gets her well-aroused beforehand? She's much less likely to feel pain, even if she's a virgin. It might be uncomfortable and strange still, but painful? Not so much.
The tool I'm documenting at work has a timeout of roughly 15 minutes.
My day is roughly going:
TO MY JOB'S CREDIT, we wanted to extend the timeout to an hour but apparently that goes against Amazon's business practices.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree on avoiding likes/kinks for the sake of kinks (unless you're on Shang, then kink away my ducklings). But discussing likes/dislikes in the regards of the approach are good. And they can be likes/dislikes in... differing themes.
For example:
'Likes' as in: 'I enjoy humor and realism and blunt, hard words like cunt or cock.'
'Dislikes' as in: 'I know my character is into BDSM, but if we could avoid anything where she's actually tied up, please? That makes me really uncomfortable and I'm not comfortable roleplaying it.'
