Two issues with this game on PC.

Keyboard and mouse controls can be janky at times, especially in combat against more than one opponent.

Chrome plus Nvidia graphics cards can sometimes cause the game to crash. So ensure Chrome is closed and not running in the background.

Can it be played with the Steam controller?

I've been playing with good success on an XBox controller, so I assume yes.

And I apologize if anything I said came across in a 'this is the first game.'

It's more that I've proposed (in brainstorming) to people a game idea or two that involved being episodic and got a lot of resistance and 'ugh no one would ever play that.'

So my statements were not intended as a 'this is the first,' but a: I'm glad there is a game (right now) doing this as proof that yes, it does work and it is fun.

That is something that bothers me. There are so many phenomenal actresses out there.

There are so many great stories they could tell with them...

      Like this one?

      Or this one?

      This one?

      This?

Sure, if you keep an eye on the blockbusters it will look like women are not getting plum roles in excellent films, but if you keep your eye on excellent films I think you'll find that fine actresses are getting great roles. Laurie Metcalf and Allison Janney were spectacular last year.

Annihilation, aka 'a Hunter team goes into the hedge'. The leads were all women. The men were the secondary characters.

I missed the main events of the first night. Work was utter murder, so I wasn't there. I had to hop in when I got home, get caught up, and work with @Botulism on where I was and meld back in.

She already had an idea in place that she ran by me as soon as I was there and it worked out completely. It led to some great story and helped me fit right back in.

I do have some personal ideas on how to help supplement things to make it easier next story for those whose schedule don't work with her own availability for running stuff (that I'll be running by her today), but it was doable if you missed the first night.

The size of the events just kept me from even trying to get involved. 5 people is about my limit. A dozen just drives me away.

We did identify this pretty quickly and I tried to splinter off some scenes for a couple of the other nights.

It's sort of an Issue on games. People see X names in a location and Flock. I know Conrad and I got overwhelmed FAST one night and after I got home from work, I went to a new location and offered RP to people and only Tommy joined me. After about 20 minutes.

Most people stayed in Huge Ass Scene.

@Misadventure - The way I usually weave back in is I get caught up, figure out what I missed, then sit down with the ST and spitball ideas. In this particular case, the ST already had an idea on where I was and it worked out really well. In fact, it caused some PCs to be suspicious of my character for a while and led to some really good RP.

It's always worked out well as a tactic for me because it gives me some background leverage to work with and because I sit with the ST to work it out, there are times when they can hand me some info to come in with that might have been missed in the initial overall scenes. A bit of "okay so I didn't get a chance to hand this out, can you bring it in?"

I've even done that as an ST. The issue is that a lot of people just... give up. I've gone to players who missed out before and said "Hey, want to get into things? I have a few ideas..." and just get shrugged off, "Nah..." or a total lack of interest.

It is a two-way street and I know missing out on that initial Big Scene can suck, but @Botulism is also working out ways to fix it up. Such as supporting the fact that we've been splitting up into other rooms by using @wall to announce the big things happening (like an attack on the entire resort) to the whole game and using 'Cameras' in the rooms to see peoples' reactions. So that you can RP in smaller groups, still see the big goings-on, and she can react to your smaller group.

      My sister.

My sister who went off to her first year of college this past year not to the college that would have given her a full scholarship for lacrosse, but to USC (because the other one was an all-girls college and ugh, she wanted to be around BOYS). Even though the other one was also being attended by her best friend and again, let me note: FULL. SCHOLARSHIP.

My sister who kept ending up failing classes because (per my mom) she was 'sick,' but when I had to add the venmo app to pay for something once and it auto-populated my contacts and showed their public notes, all of hers were colloquialisms for alcohol and weed.

My sister who went to Miami just a couple weeks before finals for a music festival, then barely passed her finals after last summer being a sneering little snot at me about how she'd 'finally' be better at me at something and finish college first with a 4.0 and valedictorian because HS was SO EASY (she did have a 4.0 GPA in HS despite her behavior, I'll give her that, but in SC I'm not sure how difficult that is and we know the step between curriculums is much greater).

My sister and I are hugely different. I mean, there's an age gap of 13 years. Practically a generational gap. I helped raised her. My mother fell into a post-partum depression with her so bad that my father and I feared she'd attempt suicide. She'd lock herself in her bedroom for days. And my father was suck a workaholic, running the household fell to me. Taking care of my sister fell to me. I was homeschooled, so it's not like I 'had anywhere to be' (their idea of homeschool was to shove whatever books they'd bought that year at me and give me tests when they remembered).

Maybe my anger about my sister is me blaming myself. Like oh, if I hadn't fucked up.... but I dunno. Maybe she resents me having been the one to tend to her so much when she was so little, but I dunno if she'd remember, it was only for her first 2, 3 years.

Anyway, this does fold into a sort of win.

I found out on her twitter that ON FATHER'S DAY (oh yes, this is a real winner). Oh. Fucking. Father's Day. my mother bought my dad a Capital's hat (since they won the Stanley Cup) a hat. This is my father's singlemost favorite sports team and he's been following them since they formed. My sister.... likes them when they're winning (like your classic fairweather fan, y'know?) and I guess my sister began begging and whining and wheedling my dad for the hat, forgetting which day it was and because she's the baby of the family and he always gives in to her because she's his princess: he gave her the hat.

      On Father's Day.

I had been planning to buy him something for the Caps anyway, but I fell really sick after payday & over the weekend. I was gonna get him a mug or something for his desk, but I'm replacing that hat (+ a sticker for his car) instead.

So in prep for 4th of July (the first I'll get to actually attend festivities for in a handful of years), I'm looking for this picnic blanket I have. It's one of those handy ones that folds up all neat and snaps together.

I have looked in every box, bin, etc...... except one that is buried awkwardly behind others.

So I'm assuming that's where it is seeing as how I haven't found it yet.
      Ugh.

      @stabeest

      Double-post:

Yes. It's a numbers game. And I work for a company that has a client. The client is probably the one that named me and my company wants to make them happy.

Because the client sees the numbers. See, we get progress reports sent out every week to the team. And it calls out who the top performers on the team are. A 'So our top agents this week...' Some weeks there's as many as six or seven of us. Some weeks there's only one of us.

Guess whose name has been on that list almost every week for the past three months? I think the only week I missed being on it was when I was sick a couple weeks ago.

So yes, the client is pretty much guaranteed to pull my name. All I am to them is a name and a number. I'm not a face. I am not a person. I'm numbers in a database that crunch to a positive integer that make their investors happy.

That is all I exist to be.

And it's why I desperately, intensely hate customer service.

I have a phone interview Friday (it's been rescheduled a couple times this week because the person conducting it has been busy) that I think should be good. I interviewed with the company earlier this year. They really liked me, but the job itself wasn't a good fit. This job really is. And I put the resume in Saturday evening and they emailed me Monday morning. That's... a really good sign. That's a 'you hit the top of the pile' hit.

I read in this thread I think that this isn't a good game for a casual player. I have been wanting to check it out but I have about 2 or 3 hours an evening to devote on work nights. Is that enough time or should I just avoid?

It depends on casual; 2-3 hours an evening seems okay? Its if you can only play like once a week or once every other week where it likely will totally sweep past you.

Precisely this. When we've said casual, we mean the sorts who can only stop in about once a week or less. Or the people who tend to just sit idle OOC and might RP once in a blue moon.

If you can be around a couple hours a night to RP? You'll be just fine! And if you can RP more on weekends? Totally all right. 🙂
