Finally got in at a free clinic. Telecom that's pure phone is awkward but hey. They 'saw' me. They're sending me to get x-rays of my knee.

I'm really nervous about what's gonna be found out. I can't even walk from one room to another without severe pain.

Not quite the same thing as you're all talking about, but I think I'm the only person in this region who, when telling a story, isn't compelled to preface a self-quote in a story by saying, "So I said to her, I said," like I frigging Foghorn Leghorn.

"What had happened was" except it becomes "Whahahappenwas"

tooth infections can be lethal. I know you don't have the money to go to the dentist, but if you start running a fever, please go to the ER. I know it's a financially bad idea, I know that it's panic-inducing, I know it's hard, but please please don't take too many chances.

I know they can. And I'm monitoring for fever. Right now it's just pain.

I just need to hold out until February. I'll have insurance again (no contract to sign yet but I discussed stuff like pay rate, pay schedule, insurance offerings, etc with the recruiting firm today) and be able to shop for a place that can knock me out while they shove their hands in my mouth.

I began watching Kaley Cuoco's new show, The Flight Attendant while (failing at) baking shortbread cookies tonight.

It is actually a lot of fun. And sort of how I imagine 'character who has never done anything remotely like this in their life begins investigating something' should go.

I'm kinda half-wanting to go on a WoD game, make a Mortal, and be the clueless idiot just throwing myself at the case in 'but I saw it on Dateline' ways for the first plot I come across.

I saw a fellow tenant last night, and she was carrying a baby carrier, and the last time I saw her, she was still in medium bump stage.

      "You had the baby! Yay!"
      "Yeah, he's five months old!"

"Jesus my understanding of time passing is so, so screwed up."
      "Mine too!"

I feel like I've been in a never ending winter.

On the one hand I can't believe it's December.
On the other hand I'm thrilled it's December because it means I haven't been caught up in my classic depression where time seems to slow to a crawl.

At least if I'm going to be in rolling anxiety attacks and shit, time is passing at a good clip.

I am in a terrible spending spiral, and ordering out way too much. Like how lazy am I, when I can't fucking be arsed to boil pasta?

      Babish - Aglio e Olio

This is simple to make. Like, dead simple. The hardest part is slicing and peeling the garlic, but it's so worth it. And it's dirt cheap.

I have made this stuff so much during COVID. It just doesn't get old. I seriously recommend that you give it a shot. You might end up eating out less just because this stuff isn't on the menu.

In the same vein, Pasta al Limone is super easy and super delicious. I keep the ingredients on hand for it.

@derp Let me know what you think of it. I've only done it once, before I got diagnosed as pre-diabetic and decided I had to cut the noodles from my diet.

I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic in the last year and I still can't do it. I've tried cutting back on sugars/carbs in other ways.

      I love pasta too much ;.;

Mythical Kitchen pleases me in so many ways

It's upbeat, it's silly, it's weird... but the reason it's here is that it's basically 'this is what cooking with ADHD is' (and ABCs of ADHD have also pointed this out specifically of Mythical Kitchen).

So yeah, I recommend it. For fun and for pointing neurotypicals at to go 'this is what my brain do' because it is a very visual example of ADHD in action.

New job is due to start on Monday.
      I've done all the paperwork.
      I'm in the payroll.
I've done the background check, drug test.
      Contracting agency said the 4th.

Last Monday I emailed to say hi, yes, I start in a week, but: how? Am I working on my own equipment, are they providing equipment, if so do I need to pick it up... aka WHAT AM I DOING COME MONDAY MORNING

      Reply: they're sending the equipment!

Thursday: emailed recruiter AND my new boss to say hi, yes, I start Monday, I do not have the equipment, please advise.

New boss gets back to me today: Wait, you start this Monday? I thought it was next Monday!

      😐
I have NO ISSUES with the company I'm doing the work for, but the communication abilities of the recruiting agency leave much to be desired.

long story short: if the equipment shows up this weekend (tomorrow), I start Monday. If not, I start the following Monday. NBD, but at least now I know.

I appreciate that I found a free clinic that's helping me take care of stuff (and can give me my meds free).

I don't appreciate hearing that the reason I never heard back on the x-ray for my knee (that I DID have to pay for, out of pocket) was because 'everything was normal.'

This is the problem with everything being telehealth right now.
One look at my knee and you'd know it's not normal.
It's swollen to the size of a grapefruit.
      I struggle to walk.
The pain keeps me up at night.
I have been doing the elevation, ice, etc. since APRIL.

Something is, in fact, very wrong with my knee and I guess I just have to wait until insurance for my new job kicks in.

Some people don't realize how the small lies stack up. Maybe they're not meant as lies, but after a while...

You know the ones. Like, "I'll talk to you tonight." and then you never hear from them and they never even have an excuse.

People love to berate each other to "pay attention to what you say" when it comes to words being taken the wrong way and coming across as hurtful... But a refusal to even put enough forethought into your planning, to an extent that I'm left hanging on a regular basis?

      That hurts, too.

My physical therapist used to say "you can pick a fight with your body, but your body is going to win".

I picked a fight with my body. I lost.

      Verified!

I have fibromyalgia and I spent so long treating my bad days like one might a 'hump' in an exercise routine. I'd just grit my teeth and force my way through it. I kept telling myself 'I'll get stronger this way.'

Yeahno.. Once I started listening to my body during a flare, I stopped turning 'flare day' into 'flare days' or even 'flare weeks.'

The body can be a stubborn SOB.

      Rest up! Feel better!

A 15-year-old girl was hit by a car because she decided to try crossing a highway to go after Pokemon on the other side.

...her mother is now blaming the game and trying to start a campaign to get parents to disallow their children from playing.

I dunno, lady. Maybe try teaching your kid NOT TO RUN ACROSS THE HIGHWAY.

The Darwin awards are gonna be interesting this year.

Niantic has put up a very straight-forward form for people to request gyms/pokestops be removed. So likely folks like that will be filing such soon.

Boohoo for the kids, maybe, but then perhaps they should have been more polite about the areas they're playing.
