First time ever making sausage gravy. Second time ever making a roux.

And holy shit it's good. like, 'I kinda want to share but I also want it all to myself' level of good.

I ended up going to urgent care tonight because the migraine spiked to where I couldn't function.

So the "love" part is that the toradol brought me from a 10 down to about a 4-6 range. This is the least pain I've been in for over a week and it's glorious.

I seriously began losing weight steadily once my deviated septum was fixed and I began sleeping properly.

Like, the role sleep plays in weight loss can be pretty huge.

By and far, my roommate has been pretty awesome. I mean, this lady enjoys washing dishes.

But she got dumped by her boyfriend a couple weeks ago. And less than a week later, was seeing a new guy. Alright, cool, we all do the rebound thing.

This guy isn't bad. He's just loud and never shuts up, but whatev.

...except he walked in, using her key, while she is at work. I was not informed of this.

I mean, I never put a caveat in the roommate agreement of 'no visitors here when you aren't,' but I've always considered it a sort of unspoken rule. To at least give your roommate(s) a heads up. 'By the way, my current bed warmer is gonna hang out for a bit while I go to work.'

    • Green Ronin Seeks Female Writers

I do not want to set off a political war, so please no? Just appreciate that a company is specifically seeking to bring women to its writing staff.

Anyhow... Green Ronin is going to be, in a couple weeks, setting off a talent search for a female writer to work on Lost Citadel.

Migraine got so bad yesterday I missed the 2nd half of my workday and slept for 5 hours.

Spent maybe 4 hours awake after that to eat and try to do some school assignments. Went to bed early (about 3 hours earlier than usual) and slept a good 10 hours.

Still have the migraine. Not as bad as what stopped me from working, but still no good.

So glad I see the neurologist on Monday, y'all.

I had a good trip. Part of me wasn't ready to come home. The wedding was more enjoyable than not, going to the Kennedy Center to see Chicago was awesome (Brandy as Roxie Hart was adorable, y'all).

But I missed my cat and coming home to a cat that is all purr and love (she doesn't do the snub thing) is amazing.

9 times out of 10, I get my hair cut just for the wash / head massage-y.

I went to a random cosmetology school to get my hair cut a couple weeks ago. They had massage chairs I could lounge in while I got my hair shampooed. It was a revelation. I will be doing this again.

      Wait.
      Wat.
      Hol' up.

      Massage chair.
      Plus hair shampoo.

I need this in my life.

Totally agree with the above, by the way. Especially on a long-term scale.

My migraines? Daily average is probably around a 4-5, with days that hit a 6.

But after a few months, I hit about a day a week where I seriously do just consider walking into the neuro and begging them for the paperwork and everything to get on short-term disability or similar on my insurance because just keeping up is hard.

Even moderate pain gets to where you just can't manage... so even if you sit there and in that every moment go 'Well, yah, this isn't the worst thing' but if you have to consider dealing with it day after day, you know it'd get hard. So make sure to consider that, as well, when talking to a doctor. Could you, feasibly, handle it if it went on long term. If the answer is no... make sure to communicate that to your doctor.

      @Paris

And this is where I sort of want alternate terms for stuff like PTSD.

Because I get where things totally suck for someone, but there are also scales of extremes. Such as your example. What you experience versus what a kid on a campus does is just realms apart. A girl being so caught up in a story that she walks in front of someone else without realizing it is not a microaggressions, despite how much these kids have convinced themselves that it is. The things you've experienced are.

@Auspice There are many many examples that one could find of this. That was rather a public one. So was the one where students who were Classics majors protested learning Ovid's Metamorphosis because it had rape in it. Guess what ... you're a Classics major. Deal. I'm a rape victim. I studied Classics. I dealt. If you can't deal, find something else.

its the many instances that don't get reported, that are ignored by the media and just allowed to happen with no fanfare. For every instance like that you see in a journal, there are a hundred more happening elsewhere.

      Then there's the ridiculous cases...

The janitor at Purdue who was fired for 'racial insensitivity' for reading 'Notre Dame vs. the Klan: How the Fighting Irish Defeated the Ku Klux Klan' on a break.

Someone felt it was racist that he was reading a book that mentioned the KKK.

Thankfully he, uh, got his job back and an apology, but yeah. Gotta love those knee-jerk reactions. 😕
