It wouldn't be dramatic of you, but depending on how close you are to her, it could just play into what I will assume is his "woe is me" play where he has to deal with his crazy ex and no one understands him blah blah but now SHE sees what he has to deal with and hey, drinks on him?

Speaking from someone who has been there, done that, got the "I should have listened to you" speech after he did turn out to be the total abusive asshole I tried to warn them away from.

And this is what I worry about, except it won't just be an 'I should have listened to you speech' right away.

She is in a very, very fragile place, which is why I'm so anxious for her. She went through worse than I did because her ex wasn't just emotionally abusive, but physically, too.

My ex could undo all the work she has done and been doing to recover and put herself back together. And not only am I far away, but so is her best friend (they recently moved to Florida). Who I am sure is also anxious (because she lived a few blocks from me and was someone whose house I would go to when I needed to escape) about it.

@tnp said in Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.:

@Auspice If you do, be prepared for her to tell him everything you said and then the resulting drama on FB. No good deed goes unpunished.

I know this all too well. 😐

Facebook was built ON, BY, and FOR drama. Don't ever think that it is intended for any other use.

Yeah, speaking of this... Been seeing my ex-husband suddenly cropping up on a friend's Facebook (they met because he ended up roommates' with a high school friend of hers 😐 ). And all his 'supportive' talk when she mentions her recovery from abuse, etc.... it makes me rage inside. So hard. Because I know the abuse she's speaking of. And it's similar to the exact bullshit he pulled on me (that he's now pretending was 'so terrible' that she went through and he's really just seeing as a 'oh so she's susceptible to it').

And I know she's his type.

Like would it be dramatic of me if I go to her and am like 'btw he is gross and shitty and this is all part of his game and I don't want to see you hurt and please for the love of god stay away from him'? Because I know in the World O Relationships I probably just come across as 'the crazy ex' but she is my friend and I do not want to see her suffer goddamnit.

So what you're saying is you need to be transferred to the Austin office.

@auspice Probably one of the best things about your terrible situation with your commute is that I imagine it is probably a huge help w/ walking back the descent into type 2. I'm really glad you're going to the doctor about it, because knowing where you're at with your numbers and such will be a huge help in 'how much pasta can I keep eating' and such.

Maybe. Except the walking is bad for my hip (arthritis) and sucks on my time (being as it's 2+ hours out of my day) and for my fibro.

Right now I just hate the being thirsty all the goddamn time (I basically have been drinking water non-stop the past two weeks) and I'll really, really miss baking bread if I am. Not so much eating it. Baking it. I love the process.

And no, do not anyone suggest, nope- I am not going to start making some 'cauliflower rice flour' bread bullshit. Nope. Real bread or gtfo.

      @sunny

I kind of hate that Facebook check-in thing. When it's been used for massive events like the landslides or hurricanes, when phone lines have been down? Yes, that's good. Those are times when loved ones have been actually well and truly incapable of checking in on the people who matter to them.

But ever since, people have been using it to 'check in' on events that don't matter. Shit, I've seen people 'check in' as safe for disasters in countries they don't even live in.

      Llamas gonna drama, yo.

Chicken breasts that are cut up into cubes are great protein additions to a salad.

I did this a lot last year. I finally hit the threshold on it and need a break (I can eat the same thing over and over to a point before I have to stop for a while.

I've never been a huge fan of meat loaf, tbh.

The other issue I'm facing is... type 2 diabetes pretty much hits everyone on my dad's side (through his mother) and I am pretty sure it's gotten to me. The past couple years, I've been doing my best to adapt to try to head it off. More exercise, improved diet. Except... carbs are still a thing. Lot of pasta (I'm poor, it helps) and my bread.

Guess... guess the pasta and bread has to go. I mean, I'm not positive that's what it is, but I'll see the doctor in a couple weeks and find out.

@auspice During the week I get up at like four am, don't get home till eight pm on a good day. Like fuck do I want to cook.

That, too. I get home around 10pm lately. And after walking a mile home from the bus, I just... do not want to cook. It's been a lot of ramen these days.

      I need a house wife. >.>

It looks like the Rotten Tomatoes reviews for Last Jedi were trollbombed. Huh.

I didn't have time to actually read through them, but I was hella suspicious considering how every other review site out there, people I know, etc. were by and far positive about the movie. I mean yes, some people were lukewarm, some disliked it, etc... but the result did not lend towards the Rotten Tomatoes 'rating.'

That's some kind of bullshit. This is why I only give reviews and such a cursory opinion, tbh. Because of things like that.

@derp That's the kind of wealthy I want to be. Wealthy enough to pay someone else to organise my food.

      This.

      I can't meal plan worth a shit.

I eat the same general things week-to-week.

Those of you who can meal plan? Mad props. Mad, mad props.

      I am really liking HelloFresh.

I tried that (or was it BlueApron?) once. If I could afford it on the reg, you bet I'd have a subscription. I think those services are great for people with busy schedules (or those like me who don't have a car and can't go grocery shopping regularly easily).

9 times out of 10 I'm too paranoid to even try cooking basic things without a recipe. >.> WHAT IF I SCREW UP. Even my 'staples' are the result of spending a period of time reading recipes, watching YouTube videos, etc., to ensure I don't fuck up and ruin the meal.

(I also have not yet really figured out how my Instant Pot works, which means making that stew last night took about 3 hours. Like every other time I'd set it to Saute like the recipe called for, it'd end up shutting off after a bit instead of getting to the 'Hot' state it asked for???)

The only good thing about my parents' visit is that my brothers (the two good ones, not the insane drug-addict shit head) got me an Instant Pot for Christmas.

Made my first thing in it tonight: beef stew.

I haven't eaten anything that rich in... uhm. I don't know how long. I had one bowl. I've got the itis. It's gonna be hard peeling myself off the sofa to put the leftovers away.
