      Dead to me.

😞 sorry bby. I fully admit studying screenwriting has made me picky af.
Even for my love of most of TLJ, I want to tear out the entire casino section and burn it in a fire.

Just wait; the female Dr. Who arrives tomorrow.

The problem there will be if the continued decline of Dr. Who's writing is in evidence, anyone who dislikes it for that reason (poor writing) may be at risk of being labeled 'anti-feminist.'

I stopped liking DW a while back for the poor writing. And I fear the female Doctor is a bid to save the show based on bringing in a female Doctor alone rather than a fresh writing staff and ideas. (Now if they did both, that'd be nice.)

But those are rants for the TV thread.

Maybe you didn't mean your post to be as offensive as I took it but I'm just a bit tired of this culture our society has developed of "Oh? You don't agree with me? Well, you must be a racist/sexist/*phobe/Etc.".

Did you specifically create a change.org petition to have TLJ struck from Star Wars canon?

Did you go to Rose's Wookiepedia page and continually make racist edits?

I assume not. You also phrased your post as you disliked the movie. That's fine. There's major movies out there that people love that I really don't (I didn't enjoy Deadpool at all, for example).

When I say TLJ hate, I mean the things above. I mean the coordinated campaign to flood the Rotten Tomatoes reviews to fuck with their metrics. All based on racism and anti-feminism. I don't mean people who didn't like it based on an actual viewing and breakdown of it as a film.

A friendly of acquaintance of mine, MT, asked me if I wanted to come hang out with him and his roommate Sam, and cook some tasty food and also listen to MT's fabulous record collection! It turns out, this was in fact a blind date. A supervised blind-date, where I was being set up with said very shy roommate. Also of note: Sam is short for 'Samantha'. I am not gay.

Reminds me of the time, many years ago, a friend (who was out of state for a period of time) asked if I'd go fix his buddy's computer for him. Sure, why not*.

Get to guy's house. He literally lives in his mother's basement. At least it's a nice basement? And clean? I mean it could smell. And the number of anime paraphernalia is limited. (I realized later he v. likely cleaned much of it up because gurl.)

The entire time I am fixing said computer, he is regaling me with his tales of being a 4channer. the. entire. time.

Later, friend gets in touch with me along the lines of 'Soooooo, how'd you like <friend>?'

Word to the wise: if you're trying to set someone up with your buddy, sending her to his mom's basement domicile is probably not the best method.

*This is now #1 on the list of Reasons Auspice Will Not Fix Your Computer.

You have Discord and don't have me on it?

@insomnia I had that happen once with a MU* friend. We had been flirting and then one day he blurted out with the 'I love you' and I went 'wat.' Yeah, he thought we were a couple.

Mind you, we were both seventeen at the time; aka the age of 'be stupid.'

As for shopping... Yeeeeah. Been there. Did Customer support for Diamond Candles a few years back and had a guy place an order on December 23rd and expect it in time for Christmas. "BUT IT'S VITAL MY DAUGHTERS GET THESE" yeah buddy. Maybe you should've thought of that before ordering two days before.

Shit got so bad that year we had to design a certificate that people could give out. Because it was the year o' blizzards rocking the midwest and northeast, so while we shipped on time, UPS and FedEx were fucked. But then you had dumbasses who were ordering late to boot.

The Last Jedi hate isn't even "fanboy" hate. It is entirely the same hate we saw for the new Mad Max. It's coming from the MRA camp. It's hate for Kelly Marie Tran because she's an asian (and cute, but not 'hawt') actress taking a major role in a movie. It's hate for Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern), another female character in a role of leadership which 'hurr durr is forcing children to think men are evil!!!111'

And same as we saw with Mad Max, they'll flood all the channels they can with bullshit to make it appear legit. These aren't actual fans. They never were fans. These are just tiny-dicked assholes who feel their manhood is threatened because 'oh no they put more ladies and minorities in a movie cuz they's wipin' out menfolk'

The Bright issue is probably Netflix-related. Netflix has hurt network television in that it's shown it's a contender re: television shows and it's done a number on the decade-old model. If it comes in and shakes up the movie model too? Oh man, there's gonna be issues, y'all. (Though I'm mad at Netflix 'cause how y'all gonna cancel Marco Polo?!)

      @thenomain Apparently I'm single now?

I just got a message from a friend who said he thought we should break up and just go back to being friends, and I was understandably confused, and asked if he was drunk or confused. I thought maybe I led him on or something and started to feel bad and then realized he "broke up" with me on Christmas Eve so he's an ass, and...bullet dodged, I guess?

Definitely an ass. But also confusing.

Was this someone you know or a wrong number situation? o.O

(2010 or '11, during the magical 'lost hour' of daylight savings, Adult Swim played this and a number of other videos. During this one, every cat in the house came to stare at the television. Ever since, I bring it up at least once a year to enthrall the household felines.)

I get that a lot from little kids because my hair is, well, neon green, and that's magically weird to little kids. I'm OK with that... from little kids. (Or from happy spacey old people obviously so out of fucks left to give that they may as well be little kids again, y'all know the type.)

If someone's above age 6 and has all of their mental faculties, though...

...where did I leave that box-cutter ankh...

Shit, met a dude once who was hella high on molly who wanted to touch my hair reeeeeal bad and he still had enough self-awareness to ask!

I loved it. I have never had a drug actually work for pain before. I mean some have helped. They've taken the edge off and lowered me from a ten to a five or a six to a two, etc. They've helped me be able to eventually sleep.

Dilauded was the first to give me that drugged happy no pain sense that I've heard people describe on vicodin, percocet, and other drugs.

On another note: this mother fucker on the bus just touched my hair what the fucking fuuuuuuck

      Man, I'm sorry. 😕

The nurse/doctor, doctor/doctor, experience/doctor, and so on disconnect can be annoying af sometimes.

The last time I was in the hospital, I was on dilaudid. Intravenous. One of my doses made me puke. The nurse even specifically said 'Oh, this happens sometimes.' I brought this up to my surgeon (since intestinal issues are why I was there, it was important to note).

He goes, 'It must be something else. Dilaudid never does that.'

Bitch, I'mma listen to the nurse who is the one on the floor administering it for twelve hours a day errday.

@karmageddon said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff:

@auspice Pigmentation loss akin to vitiligo or leucoderma? I know the onset of those can (not always) be caused by vitamin B-12 deficiency anemia, AKA pernicious anemia. Can also be caused by certain thyroid disorders, too.

The product you linked lists B-12. One possibility is that you don't effectively methylate B-12. (There is a genetics test to determine that, but I'm not sure if insurance will cover it.) B-12 isn't toxic even if you take too much, so you might want to consider adding a methylated form of B-12. That supposedly will help with absorption. Not having enough B-12 can cause all kinds of problems.

That said, and to undoubtedly state the obvious, speak with your physician. My dad was a hematologist; I never was. heh.

Kinda, maybe? I just know the skin around my eyes has gotten steadily paler and some of my eyelashes have gone white, which is hella abnormal. Like, most people don't see that until they're at least 70. Which is why I think I'm losing pigmentation in that area.

But it's on the list to ask about when I see my new doc in a couple weeks. Could be related to my hypothyroidism, too. I haven't actually had my thyroid checked / meds adjusted in a few years.

I really, really, really hate when my anemia flares up.

      Yes, I take a supplement.
Yes, I try to structure my diet to supplement further.

But man I'm having really bad dehydration days lately. I'm thirsty more than hungry the past couple days. I'm already on fill #3 of my 32oz water bottle today. And I just feel like utter shit.

Reeeeeeally hope this doesn't ruin movie experience tonight.

Speaking as someone who has been anemic when not borderline anemic for all of my adult life and some change, the dehydration can be a side-effect of iron toxicity. Other symptoms include nausea, dizziness, low blood pressure, increase pulse rate, a plethora of gastrointestinal problems, etc.

It's entirely possible you are taking an iron supplement that your body isn't processing well. For a while, I was taking Ferrex cos I was finding it easier on my stomach.

As far as efficacy and dosages, I'm afraid the only way to really get that sorted is trial and error -- and a lot of bloodwork over a span of time. 😞

I don't think that's the issue because I notice a decrease in the symptoms when I get even further sources of iron (like my tuna for lunch yesterday) into me. I use Blood Builder (https://www.amazon.com/MegaFood-Builder-Boosting-Supplement-Tablets/dp/B00014ECYU) since it has other things to help me absorb it like Vitamin C, folate, etc. It's been the kindest to my stomach of the ones I've taken, too. I also take calcium and magnesium (at different times of day so as to not off-set the whole thing).

But I know my anemia has been bad. Some people get dark circles under their eyes? I'm losing pigmentation around my eyes. I never expected to have to add color around my eyes when doing makeup y'all.
