      Wanna break Bread?

A Kropotkin reference on this, our MSB?! I should have talked politics many years ago, it seems.

Hello, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Eugene V. Debs?

it would be extremely difficult for even the most steadfast American communist to have insertion into the NVA

Reminds me of when I say something to people like "We should improve the social safety net so people don't die as much" and then they go "Oooh! Listen to you! if you don't like it here, why don't you MOVE TO NORTH KOREA!?"

And I'm like "I would if they would let me."

Mind you, I fully realize why they don't want americans traipsing around there nonchalantly; that's how you end up with a CIA cell wreaking havoc and trying to do a Color Revolution.

My dude; this is getting very tiring. Literally no one is buying your act.

      Pardon?

Something where people actually hang out on the grid and organically roleplay would be nice! Was that mentioned already? I bet it was. If so, I support this objective 100%.

I took a fantastic class on the Vietnam War at UMass, I learned a lot of elements of it that were outside of traditional media.

      [...]

You also had a high degree of defection or enemy sympathy with everyone, even Americans (Mao Mao movement) in Vietnam, mercenaries were the only reliable troops for 'heavy point artillery', use of infantry as anti-personnel stage clearance.

The Mao Mao movement was in Kenya and had to do with British colonialism. Sounds like you're a troll, and your credentials are made up.

I personally am not sure how well received this would be. The war in Vietnam was fucking horrific

Although you're entitled to your opinions I'm not sure I follow. WW1 and WW2 were both pretty damn horrific as well, and true atrocities were committed, yet there are games based on those.

There's a bit of a difference between a game like Savage Skies that's set during WWII and glorifies fighting fascism, and a game set during the Vietnam War that glorifies American imperialism.

I did not play The Greatest Generation so I'm fuzzy on the details, but did the Nazi PCs there perform war crimes?

      http://warisunlimited.wikidot.com/fuchs

I confess to being woefully ignorant of what went on there since I never played on it. It failed to mesh with my appetites.

      EDIT:

Some deep diving brought me this gem:

Its not beyond possibility that you get executed, or you get captured, in the course of play here. In which case some special rules will apply.

Executions. Obviously you can't +revive from being put up against the wall and shot. If you have no revives when you get executed, no change, you +rollover as normal. If, however, you have a revive left, you will have the choice of genning a new character, with one less revive than your old, and the full experience. So, in essence, a +revive preserving your stats, though not the character.

If you end up a POW if theres some legit reason that you are returned then you will be returned. Note, in Spain thats gonna be a fairly rare occurrence though not beyond doubt, it wasn't as gentlemanly as WW1 but prisoner exchanges are still a fact of life. Basically if you have a prisoner IC, then you can swap em IC as well. If you /dont/ and there isnt much chance of your character returning to friendly lines - you can use a +revive and that "stroke of luck" will get you home.

So you can perform extrajudicial death sentences. Or could. That game's long since dessicated and blown away onto the ashpit of history.

Fun people let me get them wet, and drop totally-not-bat-poop on their heads, as well as rocks.

❤ TY for letting me play with you.

I've grown out of worrying about people being deferential and impressed by my characters and don't mind being the recipient of bad luck like these sorts. I even encourage people to use my characters as the targets of their amusement all the time, but few accept the offer. They often seem worried I might retaliate, which is silly because I use these games to practice freewriting and do not really enmesh myself with the nature of my characters too much. They're no different from the ones in my published work.

I am so ticked off by the fact that I'm getting charged $520 for turning my apartment keys in despite having signed an agreement to pay rent till August 1st.

I went full Karen tonight and will be doing it at the boss tomorrow. Not ONCE was I warned, "Hey, you turn this in and we charge you x." I am ticked. I am about to go down and demand my keys back and I'll keep them till August 1st to save myself $500.

@Caractus If the game was still up I'd ask you to go point at one such character on it. You were not the only person whose overtly sexual app was rejected.

Anyway, the margin for error is virtually invisible if you try to app a black charbit on a great deal of games,
which has been quite solidly demonstrated here.

You can get banned on preassumed wrongdoing. Precrime, as in Minority Report: your appearance alone is justification enough.

Compliance with wiz requests gets you sitebanned, assumptions of malicious intent are common currency, yada yada.

I'm not saying y'all actively discourage people from being anything other than white, but it could be construed in that manner, and would be applicable to the original post in this thread asking why most games are seas of mayonnaise as far as the eye can see.

It worries me that you automatically assume I am incapable of nonsexual RP.

Imagine fixing your entire mouth to say that to one of the well-endowed white female characters who regularly exhibit their boobs, breasting boobily about in their palaces, and such.

You would be excoriated and reviled for casting vile aspersions on an innocent baby girl, despite her obvious sexual overtures.

@Caractus I certainly think the app speaks for itself.

It doesn't really illuminate the hidden rule of banning people who display a perfect compliance with directives to amend their characters, however.

See, as I recall being on the game that Jinshei banned a black character from, it's worth noticing that said black character was banned because it managed to hit every porn trope on the register. Every single one. Not one player was in any doubt that this was a character designed to rile people up and make them uncomfortable. Several players complained about it being horribly racist even before it got on grid (if it ever did).

Now, it's entirely possible that this was another black character, and if that is the case, please ignore and move on.

But if it was -- and you genuinely sought to app a black character who would have embarrassed Pornhub's cuck porn section... Then yes, maybe the problem is not only with the games you app on.

I think the problem lies with people taking issue with one sexualization in a sea of smoldering blue - eyed white twinks and large breasted Seductive Noblewomen.

      I digress.

You seemed to take well enough to the old man at first glance.

That said, are we going to pretend no Mu* charbit has ever, ever been designed with sex appeal? The optics of suddenly taking issue with a character that presents the wrong sort of sex appeal, instead of merely getting on with one's life, seems
      .. Odd.

Yes, I offered to amend that. Funny story, really, I just copypasted that chap's desc from another game and failed to make it PG enough.

However, I was then quietly sitebanned and just went back to Shang, again..

Arx doesn't just 'ban black characters'. There's plenty of black characters around on Arx. So unless you're willing to provide more to the story, what your concept was, etc, well then. I will take your whole thing with a grain of salt.

@Roz Five posts, only in this thread? Wonder who it could be...

This business of banning people from your games because you suspect it is someone else is very tiresome. Not all of us can be Ravaun at the same time.

Inevitably, you are incorrect. JinShei banned me from her game just as I was settling in and people hastened to link me to some sex pest person on a game I had never encountered, let alone played on, was terribly funny to observe, mostly because they seemed to think I was actually two people at once, or one person sock puppeting.

It's really none of my business, but you look silly when you compare someone who roleplays mostly white grungy biker chuds, and someone who plays elaborate simulacrums of egyptian noblemen, cross your eyes, and go "these are the same person".

Perhaps if you want to remove people without too much fuss you could do that, but that is hardly what I would call an ethical action on the behalf of the administration.

      Anyway.

Arx is supposedly nice but I soured on being enthusiastic after the staff sent my black charbit back to chargen 3 times and then just banned me without further ceremony.

I just don't bother with new games. The sex mu*s do just fine inasmuch as scratching the RP itch goes. Had characters on there for well on ten years, no fuss.

I'm sure there is something to be said about that.
