They did make The Killing Joke. Just not LA. They made it animated... and it was panned. HARD. They even got Mark Hamill to come out of retirement to voice the Joker for it (the ONLY time he ever said he would)... and they still fucked it up. They focused so much on the lead up story, that the storyline itself was relegated to 20 minutes of 'peekaboo' style animation flashing and a bit of action. I'm not surprised people are hesitant to touch that particular story again.
Did you watch it? I did.
They did not fuck it up. They did try to tack on about 30 minutes of unnecessary character development between Barbara and the Batman. I understood what they were going after, but that doesn't mean it was necessary. But was it bad? No, it wasn't.
No, what you have is a lot of fanboy nonsense, for the most part, regarding the added sequences, and some ornery bullshit about deviating from the source material "too much." Frankly, I enjoyed The Watchmen movie as much as I enjoyed the graphic novel, but I liked the movie's ending more because it is a little more realistic and understandable. Did the fanboys bitch and moan? Oh, you betcha.
So, no. I liked The Killing Joke. It was very good. It just wasn't as "edgy" as The Dark Knight or as 90s-noire was the graphic novel. So what? Hamill and Conroy do just fine, and you'll pardon if I don't need to see suggestive photos of the Joker banging a paralyzed Babs.

@Ganymede the history channel said the Nazis were there, and that ancient aliens caused it.

I guess I'd be salty, but if I recall correctly Oracle is in a chair and Barbara Gordon hasn't really had much exposure in DC's films since played by Alicia Silverstone. I think you'd have to bridge that, and I don't think the general public is ready for a full-blown version of The Killing Joke, especially given the criticisms that Moore had to face even back in the old, chauvinistic days.

Most of us folks that have more than a passing interest in history mostly grit our teeth when people insist on being "historically accurate" but aren't. Fictional takes on history are fine and are done often enough. We just get people trying time and again to be "historically accurate" rather than just using history as a story tool.
I'd just like it if a period piece stuck somewhat near the technological level and actual world history. Like, please, no grenades at the Battle of Acre, I don't care what you think the History Channel said existed or aliens.

I saw the trailer.
To be honest, the entire "all it takes is one bad day" is pretty much what The Killing Joke is about, but the tone of this trailer just -- it feels all fucking wrong. I'm a fan of Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips, but there's just nothing about the trailer that sells me on the idea that the script will be solid.
The Wikipedia suggests that elements are taken from The Killing Joke, and that Scorsese is co-producing. This is probably a good thing. But there is something so schmaltzy about the trailer that I just can't shake the thought that this take on the Joker will be somewhat less compelling that even Leto's version.

It really looks like garbage, to be honest. I don’t know why they haven’t even tried to adapt The Killing Joke, but is the authoritative backstory for me.

I didn’t think I’d like Glass as much as I did. It was mentally engrossing and satisfying.

I hope your kitties get better. I really, really do. One of ours got out recently and was gone for several days and I was an ugly snot-crying wreck, so I know the feeling. But....
Gay Edward is just fine, I think. He's just so skinny right now. But he's a purring cuddle machine, nonetheless, and I'm hoping that the stomach ulcer (I think) issue has cured itself, so the poor thing can eat better food than the hydrolyzed protein crap that cost me fucking $70 bucks because, no, you can't get a small bag, you have to get the bag used to feed fucking huskies.

Now we come to today. He's not eating, he's not drinking water, and he's been throwing up a lot of white foam. Normally, I know this is usually revolving around the fact that he has a hairball he's trying to get rid of and that can upset his stomach to the point where he doesn't feel like eating. But then, I noticed he's been doing it a lot, because I've been cleaning up after him. And the last time earlier tonight, it wasn't white, it was pink, with what I'm pretty sure is a very small amount of blood(like a coagulated thin small strand of blood).
This happened to my cat recently.
I'm not a veterinarian, but it may have to do with what you're feeding your cat. I used to feed mine IAMS Indoor Hairball food, but my cat started throwing it up on the regular. Switched to a Hill's Prescriptive Diet for digestive assistance, and that fixed the "keeping food down" bit, but he was still tossing up blood-tinged mucus on the regular. Switched to Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein diet, and that seemed to cut down on the throwing up, but my cat doesn't like the food and has been losing weight over the past couple of weeks.
After tests and three vet appointments, I can confirm that there's no internal problem. Likely due to age, my cat may have an ulcer or two that won't go away quickly. He's ten years old. So, I imagine that your cat may be going through the same thing. And, yeah, flipping happened fairly quickly.
You might want to think about adjusting his diet on the regular. Going to a place like Banfield (which is attached to Petsmart) may allow you to get a prescription for special food, as I had to in order to get the two non-IAMS varieties above. And they cost a pretty penny too: the Royal Canin I had to buy in a massive sack that set me back $70.

This might be an issue solveable through code without sacrificing privacy.
What privacy?
My e-mail chains with opposing counsel are not private. If I have a drag-out fight with them, that's going to be published. I know that; opposing counsel knows that. That's why we remain civil and cordial, and why we don't swap nude photos via e-mail.
I think one of the reasons why harassment-by-page persists is because pages aren't kept in a fashion that is easy for someone to publish without accusations of doctoring. If you implement code that memorializes all page conversations and publishes them directly to, let's say, a mail file that may be forwarded or is automatically forwarded to a staff-read-only depository, that would pretty much eliminate such claims by the accused.
I'm not sure how easy it would do, but +repose code or Faraday's auto-scene-log-uploading code in Ares might form a functional design to build from.

It's not dumb; it's natural.
Your cat lived for 19 years. That's incredible. I'll bet your cat was a very happy cat.
And since God is a cat, that means something.

Just want to be clear: If someone comes to me with an actual complaint that involved them personally I am anything but 'hands-off'.
"Hands-off" was a poor use of language. "Fairness-minded" is probably more accurate. I meant to emphasize that you and I differ in approach, and that I would probably try to locate the victims for the purpose of asking them questions about the accused.

How can we encourage people to submit complaints when they don't always get to see the results of their complaints? That's a legitimate question.
I don't think there's a good answer.
It can be discouraging. I'm involved in a case where someone was engaged in widespread investor fraud. My client and others have reported that someone to law enforcement. We have a bench warrant for his failure to appear at a contempt hearing. Yet law enforcement is taking no effort to cooperate with us to get this guy picked up and hauled in for questioning, even though everything's been set up.
This is where staff investment comes in. This is not to say that Faraday's more hands-off approach besmirches her level of investment, by the way; rather, I had faith, and still have faith, that Faraday handles complaints with the same diligence that I would expect out of myself. People with less experience or less faith may feel differently, but the only thing that can be reasonably expected from Faraday is that she handles the matter reasonably. Not as I want; not as others want; but reasonably and within the confines of what she's comfortable doing.
I'm more hands-on, confrontational, and, in some ways, vindictive. Some people like that; some people don't, and think I'm a judgmental, harsh bitch. But my time is valuable ($250-$300 an hour, actually), so I prefer to spend it on the players that will work with me and others well, and, frankly, I don't lose a lot of sleep over removing problem players from my spheres or games, even if they may have friends that would attest otherwise. I have come to learn, in my old age, that I cannot, and will not, please everyone.
Every staffer is different and will engage differently. Some may prefer Faraday's approach, some may prefer mine -- some may even prefer the staff on Haven. As long as staff make a policy and follow it, I think that's all one can, and should, reasonably expect.
Everything else, I think, is personal.
