@horrorhound Which is interesting, because engineering is full of people on the spectrum in one way or another.

We all rage against the architects, though, because what bloody idiot puts that there and this over here and that girder through the chimney and how the hell are we supposed to make any of this actually work?

Engineers only have to make it work in theory. Not in practice.

      And everything works in theory.

      "But it works in CAAAAD."

Ehhhhh. Idk man. The engineers who make theme parks are reeeeeeaaaaaal fond of CAD and whine a bunch when they get paradox from Reality.

    • RE: What is your turning point?

      I'm a GC.
I make waterparks, movie sets and coasters happen.

My times waver, and my career involves being the biggest, meanest, most-insulting douchebag in the sandbox so all the other douchebags in the sandbox get to fucking work, and get the job done.

Anytime I feel the need to employ my skills as a GC in the small time I have to myself, is time I write off - as well as the person who invoked it.

Yeah. Life isn't that complicated on its own. Or I may just be super simple.

In this helpful video, start at around minute 8 and keep listening.

This is why I support nailing down certain discussions on this board regarding diversity.

It strikes me when listening to that video how most of the described 'playbook' applies equally to radicals of all stripes. It's distressingly common to see people argue you should cut ties with all friends and family who do not 100% agree with your current political convictions.

This is because of our co-op instincts in the beast brain...you ever wonder one reason those gathered together chant, or scream the same thing? It is a reaction. When you do as those around you do, and include yourself into the group, your brain rewards you with dopamine and oxytocin.

Echo chamber phenomenon are many, and interesting. One needs constant self-reflection to ensure their actions are their actions, and not the brain telling them to do as the group does.

    • RE: Bump In The Night: A Chronicles of Darkness MUX

I love Tolkien's world. I hate his writing. If you would like a lovely take on said world - 'The Last Ring-Bearer' is recommended. The disgusting tribals vs. The unstoppable industrials.

Also, personally, as great a writer as he is...I see what you're doin' with them eagles, guy, and I hate it.

Having to mend bridges with clients because the owner abuse(s/d) steroids and cocaine, thus having his own issues, such as emotional control and complete planning - do you have any fucking idea how many bricks 9,000 bricks is, my guy? It is not a week's worth of work for one person. Not if you want it done right, anyways.

Having to mend bridges in a Sunday night.

Having to mend bridges on a Sunday night when I am probably not sober.

My only consolation in this, is my time is expensive, and I track call times.

Another possible solution is incentivizing with xp. "We have these particular types of characters underrepresented right now. Make one and get a 50 xp bonus." However, I feel this would just get abused by people creating a stereotypical caricature just to reap the xp bonus. Whereas, a roster character has been created by staff, so should be more of a character than a bad joke.

Lol. Incentivizing diversity with XP? That's a shit-bomb waiting to happen.

      Cyberpunk RED.

Do I want to make it? Fuck yes. Would I play it? Absolutely. Why won't I make it? I doubt the community can handle some of the setting material maturely.

    • MUDs, do they still exist?

So, I was sitting here, bored. Not really wanting to engage in long writing and -- I started looking for what got me into MUSH in the first place. MUDs. I found one: tgmud.net 9010 but I was wondering, are there more? I vaguely remember this cool hack and slash place, Toril, but that was awhile back. Are they still enjoyable for you folk or - ?
