the great thing about a conspiracy theorist in WoD of any flavor is they can be exactly right about the conspiracies existing but completely wrong about the particulars at the same time.

Uses garlic on vampires, only learns when his arms are ripped off that, that is bullshit information.

The primary problem is not finding people who use other mediums, but letting people know MUing exists and letting them find you. Then being patient enough to teach them the method as I can tell you with confidence that the mass-population of people who wish to write, or engage in pretendy-funtimes, have no clue what MUing is.

Just, uh, prepare for the psychologically challenged. M'kay?

      @ShelBeast

I'll start messaging you privately once I get my laptop, but:

What you have with your theme is something akin to Dark Metal, but, with this particular theme, and a different system, you have the ability to play Vampire just as you would in a Dark Ages theme. How is that?

Knights aren't a one-man army. A Knight has weapons, armors, beasts and things that need tending by multiple people.

A Vampire is no different, really, if you strip away the awesome that is Bloodlines and look at the Clans, each Clan uses the world in a different way, and offers the world a unique face. Gangrel can be as bestial as Beast from Grimm Fairy Tales...or can be as intelligent and terrible as Khan, from Star Trek. Nosferatu. Lords of Terror, who project that terror outwards -- or let their lands degenerate into properties of paranoia. Ventrue manipulate the world as if it was machinery, and they have a whole shop to fix things how they need. Daeva, who could easily use passions such as Faith, Charity or even Greed and Gluttony to rule.

Vampires are Masters of their Domain. End of story. That is why politics is so important, because they are also solitary predators...unless, you have Bigger, Badder, Bullies present -- and you do. Draugr. Draugr are no joke. Some can be terrible monsters of terribleness, and some, you'd never know, until it was too late.

So, to my point, enforce a particular edge to both views: You want to be Cowboy Carl, or wish to emulate Candy Cane (American Vampire, guys. Look it up.) Go ahead -- but you have zero resources, because your ass has zero squire's, zero serfs, zero homesteads, zero, zero, zero.

...which sort of enforces your idea for cooperative roleplay. I am Billy Badass, and you are Duke Dollar. We work. Except all of our shit is useless, because we have no idea what this loot is useful for, without Smith Sanders.

Modern vampires are mostly parasitic. Dark Age vampires must be symbiotic, otherwise, how do you know your herd isn't also carrying Spanish Flu?

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

Omgomgomgomgomg. So, y'all ready to learn about yourselves?

      Ding'd.

You ever hear of Mushin? Flow? Hyperfocus?

Fun fact about those with ADD/ADHD, we exist in a sort of mental stasis until our brains are activated by physical stimuli, and while we may not be neurotypical, we come with some bonuses:

Reaction. Your body ever react without you having to think? More than just muscle memory, kids. In the state of Flow, or Hyperfocus, we react better.

Hyperfocus itself: Able to enter and disengage rapidly and more often than neurotypical folk, those with ADD/ADHD seem unable to dislodge or be dislodged from hyperfocused tasks (for me, this is how I worked ninety hours on a project until my shirt was, quite literally, shredded and so muddied, I wasn't recognized. My crew did not appreciate my inability to stop.)

Time: Time is a funny thing, subjective, relative, but to those of this category, most often it is observed one extreme: Yesterday was an eternity ago, and tomorrow doesn't exist. This elasticity is likely some instinctive seed, still relevant now as it was when this neurotype was a survival strategy.

Sleep: When asleep, our brains are different. Not just a little different, but the C-Wave moves to an entirely different part of the brain. We're not really sure what this means, but it means something. B-B-B-BONUS RRRROUND: During PSG Studies those with ADD/ADHD that goes untreated have a higher percentage of waking at the drop of a hat and dime to the floor.

There is more. It's good shit, kids. Good shit.

So, dinging. Maaaaan, dinging is the best. Y'all ever Ding? That moment, that second, wherein you can feel your brain shift speeds, time stops being relevant at all, people too, and all there is - is the Hyperfoci. That stimuli. Project. Person. Song. Whatever it is that activated the HF, The Flow, and The Ding that rings like a little bell, and it's like you don't think anymore, don't feel, just, Do.

    • RE: GMs and Players

      @il-volpe

I have four-hour windows where I can actually engage with this hobby, so keep in mind, while I'm not making metal and stone do what I want with my hands I'm playing pretendy-funtimes with all you lot.

      So, short and sweet:

GMs are players that have become STs. They've ceased first-party interaction to engage third-party interaction. They tell the story. Shit, I've seen more and more players taking this load onto themselves, and thus allowing their STs to focus on greater, and greater metastories or whateverthefuck that ST is going to do.

Players can choose not to log into a game. If the game, the environment or whatever isn't for you - don't log in. Don't talk shit. It comes off wrong, you know? Makes your breath reek.

It also makes your examples squishy, shitty even.

Now, I've been privy of every side of almost every argument and it's fine because it's a bunch of dorks (blanket term, myself included) playing a dorky game (House with Extra-Steps) using a tool that lets them remain anonymous to some degree.

There's a careful balance created and maintained here, and the biggest, most-powerful tool you as a player have against a GM you don't like or don't agree with is simply leaving. It's when you talk shit that you might get called out and dragged through your own excrement, you know?

This is just my constructive criticism, mind you, based on experience and all that. But if you, like me, have a small window to actually engage with this hobby, you should not be opening that window to smell, or permeate the outside-air with bullshit.

So, I wanted to share this, as I married someone in the neurological field and learned an immense amount of shit about myself, and ADHD. Because I had ADHD when ADHD was just some bullshit excuse for your kid not listening, or something. So no meds. Never. Not ever. Because ADHD isn't real.

      Obviously it is.

Anyways, I've done really dangerous jobs, and also have been in construction for like, twelve years now. Big construction. Personal residence. I fucking love it. It all makes sense to me, and best of all: ADHD isn't a flaw, it's a merit, in construction and the very nature of the job helps curb your inattentive behaviors. Forgot what you were doing? No worries, champ. Contracts and job scopes are written down. Having a tough time? No problem: Everybody is embracing the suck and eating that same shit sandwich. Tempers flaring? Yep. They do that. Get the fuck over it and move on - what's this?! Everybody is getting over shit as fast as you?

So, apparently construction is full of peeps with ADHD, which makes sense, because we all rage against those fucking engineers.

    • RE: RL Sads

I'm not sad, per say...I'm...not sure what the word is.

I work high up, sometimes very high up. Not as high as I used to (such as outside of skyscrapers) but high enough (yet low enough) that I can still see and interact with the world. Hear it, see it, smell it - you get it. (By the way, none of you look up enough.)

I'm...not sure what I am. But I am a Thing, possibly negative.

I'm trying to hold on to things that matter, to put value in day-to-day routines and goals like every other sane person, except...I have a problem: I work high up. From my perspective, I can see things that make a lot of things just...not matter. Material ownership becomes almost pointless when you can see the city is literally falling apart from the rooftops in front of you, day in, day out.

Or that the area you're in is running out of horizontal space. That one is good. You can see the homes getting smaller because the space is running out.

Ohhhh, or the scramble of shoppers into the building that has a sinking roof, and vertical cracks in the foundation that no one knows about except you, the other inspectors, and the owner of the building.

I dunno what I am. But what I am, has made it very hard to give a fuck lately about a lot. From the top of a chimney I can see good things too, amazing things; beautiful views no one else gets because no one else bothers to climb as high as I do. I got to watch a proposal once, two streets over - that was cool.

But man, lately? My views have only made me question the value of things.

      Rant fin.

    • RE: Goofy things one does in down time.

I work up really high. Sometimes really, really high. But I really enjoy, before the job is truly done, to lay on rooftops and watch clouds to relax. Sometimes I'll sit up there and enjoy my morning coffee, and the rising sun.

It's not all of them but, I actually have some photos loaded. Some are from the drone, some from 120' lifts.

I like Sabbat, but, the dinosaurs are overplayed and the tropes never end. The Lancea et Sanctum is basically the best version of The Sword. Anyways.

Demon: The Fallen gives you stories like Spawn, The Darkness, Cthulu, Hellboy, etc. It also allows you, as the ST, to fuck with players in a great way: Philosophy. There are antagonists in DtF that can really force your players to think, and really flesh out their character - like that tidbit, about how sometimes, The Daemon doesn't remember anything about being God's Servant. Or how a Daemon might believe mythologies over religion, or how The Daemon is weak, and it is The Man who is in control of these mighty cosmic forces or - and my personal favorite - The Daemon is as a Goa'ould, and its Host might have to fight for control, or be devoured.

      P.S - I'll totally make a Goa'ould-like Super being.
