I liked Grim Dawn, I thought it was a fair entry into the Diablo style genre of games with enough things to make it different. The questing and story was fun. And the way the game handles abilities and character leveling were also enjoyable.

I also liked the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. Buy the final cut if you get it, that game is worthwhile with several interesting classes which really change how you play the game. The story is pretty linear no matter your class like Diablo is, but I found it to be a great game and have an interesting story.

And if you want more shooty in your Diablo style game the new Warhammr 40k Inquisition - Martyr game just released for Early Access. The promotional copy that I have is pretty limited and there are some people playing it on Youtube. I think that it's going to be an interesting entry into the genre and Warhammer 40k seems to fit well with the way they are doing it so far. The drawback...it is Early Access and unfinished so you will be getting something in development. So you have to weigh that carefully like you would any game in Early Access.

ETA: While the Warhammer game is in Early Access I will say that there is enough of a game to dig into and have fun with. I recommend looking up some of the Youtube LPs to get a fair approximation of it if you are interested in this one.

Lastly...Path of Exile is very much inspired by Diablo and that game is huge. There is literally hundreds of combinations for building a character and the game has a lot of promotion going on for it. It is like any other MMO with constant updates and changes that come frequent enough to keep the game interesting.

If you like JRPGs Trails in the Sky is damn good.

If you want something more like Baldur's Gate-style then Divinity Original Sin 2 is the way to go.

There is an oldschool style RPG available called Balrum that I've been digging into on and off and it is pretty enjoyable.

Hellblade isn't bad but it is kind of linear in the worst ways that Dragon Age 2 was (if you played that).

And if you want something semi-open world Dark Souls 2 and 3 are on sale right now on Steam. I have not played either of them but people tend to say they are great games.

I also just picked up West of Loathing on my review account but I have not tried it yet, but that looks like wacky RPG fun.

      And:

I'm going to toss these few games on here that are fun but are not 'new'

Legend of Grimrock 1 and 2 is enjoyable if you enjoyed the old D&D dungeon crawlers like Menzoberranzan and Eye of the Beholder.

Paper Sorcerer is also a dungeon crawler style RPG and is pretty enjoyable.

And I've sank a ridiculous amount of hours in Adventure Manager playing only in spare moments between busy spurts while working.

There is an apartment complex, that I am not allowed to give the name of, who is not complaint with their fire systems and has not been for four months. We have reported them to the fire marshal who fined them $8000 for this non-compliance.

And instead of paying their fine and fixing the problems. They have instead filed a lawsuit against our company for the $8000 they have to pay stating it is our fault that the repairs we've been telling them to make for 6 months, that they did not want to pay for, were not done.

      Fuck I hate people.

ETA: We knew of the problem six months ago. We reported them four months ago. They had 2 months before we reported to fix the issue. Six months is still too damn long.

@Faceless Well, the narrative is pretty much leading there. When the plotline is "we need dragonglass weapons to fight the army of snow zombies led by a 12,000 year old lich king" it's just not very useful to be the guy who whispers into the right ears. I get that.

But I can still miss it.

Your summary makes it sound like their show writers worked at Blizzard some years ago. 😄

From what I gathered they were harvesting the dragon marrow. And there were doorways to these dragons lairs that they were using Iron Fists throughout the centuries to seal up. And the Hand was just harvesting these lairs where there are dead dragons and the results ended in the destruction of the cities close to them. At least...that was my headcanon for it. The others wanting to return to K'un Lun was...that was odd. But I think it was a 'want to go back' in a sense of 'want to take it over.' Since the monks would just exile them again.

      @Arkandel
I agree. They did not develop the Black Sky enough. And I remember S1 DD where Matt and Stick fought over murdering a kid who was supposed to be Black Sky too. Ultimately, I was thinking 'Black Sky' was the coffin thing they resurrected Elektra in. But I guess not. I am still not quite sure what 'Black Sky' is supposed to even be short of 'the Hand's ultimate weapon' per Stick in DDS1.

@Wizz I was able to guess what the Hand was after in Episode 5. So yes, they were wasted. Or at least the 5 Fingers were wasted.

I see the first season as done in 3 acts. The first act I enjoyed, that would be to me, episodes 1-3. The second act would be eps 4&5 and I found that to be the best part. And the third act just...deflated the buildup. In the end, Weaver was a great casting choice for a weakly written character who was just not well used. While I did not mind the Elektra thing in the 3rd act, I thought they would have just been better off then making her the focus from the outset. So the series is not horrible but I might give a S2 a pass.

I will add, that I think that JJ was better written in these episodes all around than she did in her flagship season. And Ritter's acting felt less...trying too hard.

Pretty sure my roommate is getting dicked over on this car accident that totaled his car. He accepted just the $500 from the insurance company of the woman who hit him 'to cover his deductible.' And he will not listen to me to dig into this more.

I do not know where to drop this info but people seem to be pretty interested in this thread so I will share it; my roommate works as a sales manager at a grocery store and he was told this, this morning, and called to let me know to tell other people. If you buy Busch's baked beans they are recalling the 28 ounce cans of the Brown Sugar Hickory, Country Style, and Original flavors. There are defects in the cans.

Okay that was a damn good use of Vincent Price's opening and the Thriller song itself.

Aluminum foil has push in tabs on the side to keep the roll in place as you use it.

I did not learn the pleasures of Alt-tab until Windows Vista.

2 parts water, 1 part bleach in a spray bottle can be used to kill invasive wasps in a house in about 15 seconds.

Opening a bag of microwave popcorn just a little at first lets you shake out all the unpopped kernels first.

Eating marshmallows helps a sore throat. Tested this. It works.

Our security index update this morning has a notice to people playing online video games, anyone who uses an authentication device or requests new passwords from targeted game companies; there is a new trojan virus out whose purpose is to capture those codes and links from your email if you request them digitally. Hardware authenticators are not effected.
