RE: Crafting Thread Part ?
Now in the right thread....
Made a pea gravel sandbox for the kids because I was tired of the 4 year old going I'm booored despite a bajillion things. So I got dog eared pickets, spent three days cutting down 2x4's by hand because my table saw and mitre saw got stolen and I never replaced them. Then the kids marked the spots for screws, handed me screws, we assembled it with no plan, and then filled with pea gravel.
I am done being crafty. For today.
I still have to paint it, re-mulch around it and probably some planters because derecho damage killed everything. But I am pleased! $135 bucks all said and done after I account for another 10-15 bags of pea gravel to really fill it up. 1 hour of work.

RE: Crafting Thread Part ?
@aria If'n you wanna get suuuuper archival friendly, you buy a pack of archival quality photo mounts and use them instead of masking tape. Looks neater, less long term damage from adhesive to the paper since the adhesive is actually between mat and photomounts annnnd, no peeling tape off your portrait!
There. Put my college education to work. Enjoy.

@auspice That's pretty much it. i think it's because we sat him so often. He's just... he was the old man. (Yes we have permission to use his picture, it's part of our business cards)
God damnit, I hate this part of the job and I never even realized it till now. I can't boop his snoot anymore.

RE: MU Things I Love
Giving away clothes I'm made IC. It's mostly love, a little nail biting. I could junk them sure, but junkings a crapshoot and most nights when I'm punking around, I'm desc'ing up clothing for my clotheshorse of a character, so that they can be modeled the following week - aka worn once to a scene and then never again - and then about once a month of every two, just everything thrown into a chest and then emptied out and watch the herd of people come like it's some trunk sale for free clothes.
The nail bitey is that, even though I say it's for people to wear, please don't junk because it tends to be higher end materials/patterns/etc etc, I always sit there and wonder how many people actually wear the clothes or just come and grab it and the moment they're out of view, they junk it.
And then I catch a fleeting glimpse of my clothing objects on someone at a party - I look - and I smile, because I know it's getting used and someone actually likes it.

@admiral I have a wheelchair bound dog coming tomorrow. I will double boop that snoot. We're picking up toys tomorrow too to bring to our favourite dog park in his honor. So folks can take one home with their doggo's.

RE: Constructive (keyword) Criticism of Arx Systems
@groth just haggle/findbuyer and collate from the broker. Buying the resources through haggle and then selling is horrifying waste of ap.it really is. Eats into profits.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@admiral yup, pretty much. Because i am not comfortable installing windows myself, but my dad flips houses. Win win. I get a pair of new basement windows that are not 60 years old and to see my parents and take some of my two weeks holiday. It sucks for them, but tgats life. I take 2 daysholiday outside of statutory, thats pretty good considering most daycares in the area take the bank holidays too and between christmas and new years. But i will word it that way. Thanks

RE: Constructive (keyword) Criticism of Arx Systems
@groth I mean it may be ineffecient but... maybe the way she did it is fun? Haggling pre-ap change was addictive as fuck. I have both come out on top or fucked up major because dice got fickle.
Some folks give no shit about the intricacies of the code or math. They just want to fiddle and play and have fun.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
Am I some weirdo who doesn't go see movies for it's message that may or may not actually exist or to compare to source material and just go... to be entertained and enjoy?
I saw wrinkle in time. Never read the bookn summarily enjoyed it. Thats it. Same as Black Panther. I saw it, i enjoyed it. I really couldn't care less about any social or intellectual conversations possibly gotten from it and plights of whatever.
It's a movie. I found nothing wrong with WiT. I enjoyed all of it. Meg, charles wallace and his supernatural precociousness. It was indeed a kids movie, thoroughly aimed at kids and to be entertained by them with no real slipping in of adult stuff. Aubt beast had me smile, I enjoyed Galifinakis thorough, even oprah and I'm not terribly fond of her. Costumes were gooooooorgeous. Seriously. I really do hope the one dress was a bedsheet.

RE: MU Things I Love
@Ghost reminds me of that geico commercial with the secret agent fighting on the helipad of a skyscraper and his mother calls to see about him bringing milk and complaining that his dad was doing nothing about the squirrels and is he having a party there?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@insomnia So does the one who occupies our garage door space but there's a treaty. It gets a third of the doorway, no more, no less. It takes up more, it's in violation of the treaty and forfeits it's web.
It rebuilds a day later, and within it's confines.
It can find a new batch o'cherries.

When something gets slipped into an utterly mundane action (Plz use my +secret to bump the quality of this item plx kkthnx., that sort of mundane) that makes you go Ooooh. @Darinelle I'm looking at you. You made my morning delightful and I'm running with it all the way to the RP bank!

RE: Kushiel Game
We have a coder already, muse. But thank you for asking your friend. We have volunteers for staff That i know in the past everyone has had nothing but good to talk about and understand what's expected of them.
So I'll pull the trigger, start the ball rolling. I'll go get a forum set up so that we can get things hashed out, decide where in the timeline we want to set this, if there are other volunteers and what they are willing to do. Coding and a server are what we will do when we know what we want coded. Bear with me folks, I'm on the tail end of my work day but I'm on this.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
Bird Box. Netflix. A nice post apoc alien invasion with lines of A Quiet Place, a sprinkling of the Happening and a healthy dose of like Signs and some other classic psych horrors. Tomato gave it 66%, I quite enjoyed it, even when birds nesting in my eaves while I was watching at 1am and scared the shit out of me by squabbling and scratching at my window.

RE: RL Anger
When home health care can't get their ass out of their head, get IV medication to the house on time, figure out what time the god damned lab nurse is coming, can't include half the stuff that is needed and then spend the entire day, calling and changing stuff, then calling to apologize, then calling to change more stuff and....
I still don't fucking know what is happening tomorrow, just that I have stuff to last us till Saturday and after that, people better have their shit together.
And apparently they don't supply nitrile gloves, and we're supposed to just have a box of them on our own hanging around. Dude, dealing with an IV line that goes RIGHT to my spouses heart... pretty sure when you tell me 'And always wear gloves for sterility" that... you know, you supply gloves and I don't have to go out and pay 12 bucks for a box that will last me 2 weeks.
Jesus take the wheel or I will slaughter people.

RE: What do you eat?
@surreality God, were it not for my garden in the summer, I would not have tomato's, green beans etc etc. Fresh produce in the mid-west that isn't -corn- is pricey, it often spoils within two days once you get it here and generally not that great in quality. a head of cauliflower is regularly almost 3 bucks, sometimes dips to close to two or under. Aldi's does their best bringing in fresh fruits and veggies. But come winter, you're fucked and my budget for feeding a diabetic has to stretch far if I don't want to revert to shitty food. But during the mid to late summer, I'm feeding us out of our garden.
So yeah, low income, it's a bitch to eat healthy. It can be done, but usually involves buying when cheap and freezing stuff or pre-making and freezing meals.
