I kind of want to buy a bunch of Harlequin novels cheap, now, and rewrite the smut to be family friendly.

I want to buy anita blake books and do this...

Manifest. Flight vanishes and reappears years later. People on flight didn't miss time...

Twilight Zone. People get back on plane to try to return to own time.

I really couldn't blame them right now. Can we go too?

Open up a google window. Search “wizard of oz”.
Click Dorothy’s red shoes on the right.
      Then click the tornado.

      Open up a Google window.
      Search "Thanos".
      Click on the infinity gauntlet.

@Auspice I've had to start having things delivered to work because "please don't leave on the doorstep where it can be stolen but put in this thing I have specifically put here for parcels with Parcels written on it" is too complex. They also left our gate open twice to let puppy onto the road. I flipped my shit then...

I miss our Australian magpie family. Not smol. but... they bought us their babies to show them the humans who fed them, and they swooped to protect our house.

Actually teaching kids someday already has the imposter syndrome meter turned to yikes.

It really does. I said to a colleague yesterday that I keep expecting someone to turn around and realise I don't know what I'm talking about.

@Auspice If I were in your area I would without fail. Unfortunately I live in Arkansas, not a land known for a glut of MUSHers.

Three things tend to get doctors to change their tune on mental health. There is a lot of things I could ask to customize this advice for you, but these are almost always applicable.

      1. 'Have you used the DSM-5 to evaluate what I've been telling you my symptoms are? Are you trained in the DSM-5? If not, can I been seen by someone who is?'
The DSM-5 is the diagnostic criteria for mental disorders, fifth edition. The one currently in use everywhere, and the one-off which all doctors have to demonstrate a patient's medical needs.

It's also missing a ton of "newer" evidence, and has very little evidence base. It is still, however, a useful tool to beat recalcitrant doctors who don't know enough about mental health with. We use the NICE guidelines over here for the same beating. When it comes to fibro though, the medical profession are a bit behind the curve. Is this useful to take? - a little old but if it says the treatment you want, it is a source they might listen to.

      3 weeks ago:
Work: You need to apply for this course as a condition of your job.
Me: Applies for job, comes across bit that says "give form to manager", so gives form to manager.
Manager: No, there is a fee waiver button you must press.
Me: There is not a button.
Manager to admissions: Where is the button?
Admissions: we will look into this.

      Today:
Work: You are doing that course but you also have to apply for it in a second way that is identical with the same information but just requires you to input it all again.
Me: Does that. Finds form that says "give form to manager".

      Meanwhile:
Admissions: We have closed your problem: we no longer use the paper form, please press the button.
Me: Please see original email in this thread where I said THERE IS NO BUTTON

      I may scream...

      @JinShei

Can I just say I wanna see more posts like this as I start trying to think about having to do things along these lines? ❤

I'm happy to brainstorm but I bought books to figure some shit out. Any by the thesis whisper are great. I'm also going to do a poster presentation to help them build up to a case study. They just have to present the facts of the case in the poster, and then do more analysis and in-depth work for the case study.

For the research module, we're using the recent footballers' wives drama as a dissertation example, and I'm doing exercises like "tweet the paper" and giving them a paper with no title or abstract, asking them to write those. There is also the peanut butter and jelly sandwich instructions to illustrate how much data to expect within a methods chapter...

I am using juggling on friday to demostrate health behaviour theory 😄

@JinShei Trump is doing it to us out here. It's exhausting.

Just the perpetual terror of what might happen, calculating supplies, and just background rationalisation! I'm considering saving up for a boat, and going to be a nomad... Perhaps a yellow submarine

I went to bed last night really excited for today. It's one of those two or three weeks of wonderful weather that we get in Louisiana per year. I had so many ideas. Maybe I'd even get out of the house and go to a coffee shop to work on nanowrimo!

      Enter depression.
      Followed by dysphoria.
Followed, of course, by anxiety, because why should I power through the depression by getting out of the house.
Even OCD has made a rare but entirely unwelcome appearance.

I want to take the week off and drink hot chocolate and cry.

Argh that is grim, and unfair in contrast to the night before 😞 I'm sorry, mate.
