Made this today! I started with a pattern, got annoyed with the pattern and just sort of ... did stuff.

Am a nurse consultant type - I've been sitting on my hands here. See a doctor - from your description it could be anything. The only way anyone would know is to do a proper exam. If you have anxiety around this, speculating probably is not helpful

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Ganymede And a dozen other things known to medics. 80% of chest exams are done with listening and looking, and not by pain symptoms. So. Yes, could be those, or something else. I could list a dozen other things but the thing is - without a physical exam, I can't tell. And I'm trained to be able to diagnose.

It was a question of whether it was acceptable behavior.
I mean, I understand from the discussion that we are talking about shaming. Shaming people for their bad behavior. And if that means affecting their life so be it.
The line I see is whether the shaming leads to physical consequences. It is clearly wrong if someone is assaulted or killed as a result of exposing them.
But losing one’s job? Some people think that the truth hurts. But it also hurts children who depend on that job. Does the morality depend on what a person is being shamed for?
I guess that’s why I err on the side of not shaming.
I don't know if any of you have read / listened to Jon Ronson's work, "So you've been publicly shamed" - it discusses these issues.
For me, I have marched in protests around Brexit and the NHS - I work in the public sector and didn't cover my face. Honestly? I believe in those things, and if I were identified, I would stand by them. BUT I am also covered by solid employment laws and good unions and so there isn't a fear of my income being affected. So it wasn't a major risk for me - my sector is notoriously left-leaning, anti-Brexit, pro-NHS.
I love a video of a nazi being punched as much as the next left-wing person. But I feel that is the part of us - all of us - who would watch gladiators. The same reason some people read threads on here with popcorn.

My stupid left hip hurts and feels out of 'place' somehow. And tomorrow I have to deal with team lead who will make me crazy.
I feel this way about my legs today. Not the out of place part. The pain part. I get this deep bone ache in them and I didn't wanna 'whine' but it fucking hurts and I share because, well, I want you to know you aren't alone in hurting and needing to have a 'this fucking sucks' moment.
Can I join too? Joints are unhelpful and painful. I have a day of university with bad chairs today and I woke up with pain.

RE: Good TV
@Ghost I'm watching on amazon because we don't get CBS here. It is becoming a problem for us though - netflix, amazon, and sky just to watch a few good shows. BBC is at least still producing good stuff for us over here (apart from the horror that BBC America has shown so far of the Discworld travesty). I begin to see why people share passwords!

Really fed up with this cough, and with the constant return of depression. I get that it is a life long thing (the depression not the cough) and that it is by nature a cycle but... fuck off already.
I don't have TIME for this shit this week (which is why it is here, of course). So busy beating myself up over mistakes recently, and getting an oncoming tsunami of work that it will be impossible to do well...

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@Selerik I spent a whole year of therapy talking about how my bipolar was out of control, with my therapist pointing out that I was being put under massive pressure at work... And that anyone would be breaking. Took me ages to accept that bipolar is actually steady as a rock compare to the shit left in my head from trauma.

In the UK, our government has made some interesting decisions that the people who study this shit are saying are poor choices.
So business as usual, then.
Yup. There is a little bit of me that is glad that Nadine Dorris has it, and therefore will have given it to the people making these choices... Let them try this herd immunity theory first.

Don't take ibuprofen though!!! Please!
Ok, so there are many rumours about this. The source seems to have come from a letter published in the lancet - letters are not peer-reviewed, and are often disagreed with. The BBC put out a fact check on this. . A lot of people take them routinely - I do - and should keep taking them - I will be. There are some biological reasons why ibuprofen might THEORETICALLY be less than helpful but there is no scientific evidence that it actually is.
Ideally, stick to paracetamol if you are sick, but if you are taking ibuprofen and similar for chronic conditions, don't stop because of a rumour. If in doubt, talk to your healthcare team.
Clean hands, drink water, avoid other people as much as you can.
