RE: I'm Sorry
@paris Especially since the person doesn't have any board history so how the hell are we meant to know? After all that could be ....anyone here?

RE: Comfort Food...
Cauliflower cheese. Crispy baked on top, with plenty of cheese and mustard in the sauce...not the half cooked, white sauce rubbish someone served yesterday.

RE: Social 'Combat': the hill I will die on (because I took 0 things for physical combat)
I'm a self acknowledge fate fan so... I've found it works beautifully on a mush, but that the mindset of the players has to be such that they use the aspects as a live part of their sheet. That gives nuance to the numbers. I.e. my nun was amazing in social combat, but her aspects gave situations where she would not use her skills or could not be forced to do...

RE: Where Can I Play When I work Nights?
Try somewhere with UK or EU times perhaps? Look for the timezone in your playing hours..

(I use spoon theory at work to illustrate to my patients why they should all delegate where they can)
My gf and I use it all the time, just to communicate and express our needs and wants:
"Hey babe, do you have spoons to cut my hair tonight?"
"I dunno maybe, I'm pretty tapped out. Work cost me a lot of spoons today. Can we do it tomorrow?"
It helps to understand that it's not personal if someone doesn't want to do something, and it's not an 'excuse'. We respect each other's spoon usage and needs.
We use it as a get out of jail thing just like you! Himself has a low social spoon level, and I don't but I get brain fogged and out of thinking (or manic and demanding Everything Happens NOW!). Its a good way to communicate the amount of energy. The only amendment I make to the original is that there are different spoon pools - I might have physical ones but not social.

First, the people who cripple their socials and mentals for combat, then still play as if they have high social and mental stats
But what do you do about this? You are on the cusp of recommending open sheets, or sheet summaries. I'm all for a sheet summary being visible: This person has Very High physicals, this person has Low socials, et al., but a Mu* by necessity self-polices. Y
We have open sheets on Darkspires. Seems to work well, and it helps players use the strengths of the fate system - less powergaming, more cooperative play, where losing can be amusing.

It sounded like maybe the new Discworld game has a strong European contingent? Including staffers.
@JinShei at least! She is EU and runs it.
(I haven't yet checked the place out due to busy, but can confirm they def. have EU folks.)We've got a small but growing base and most play is in UK time but I do have one player who is there all day UK time as well (and desperate for play time!). You would be very welcome

@auspice I don't know if you have Meijer where you are, but they carry a specific Hanes sports bra that I have fallen in love with. This thing keeps up with me during 12 hour days, in a warehouse, without poking, stabbing, itching, pinching, binding, or chafing. It even stops that grungy feeling from it being too warm and getting sweaty. I'm already scouring local stores to find extras in my size.
I've yet to find a sports bra outside of Panache that can handle my 36HH self. :
(I also don't have Meijer; haven't since leaving Cincinnati region in '07.)Look at the Bravissimo shop - although they are uk, they ship worldwide, and are decently priced. I'm an addict, never shop elsewhere any more.

RE: LFG
Well, some basic survey questions:
What genres typically take your fancy?
Usually modern urban fantasy.
How often do you feel you can reasonably be expected to connect, and for how long?
A couple of evenings. I'm not planning full time any more
Are there any game styles, or cultures, that you've had exceptionally negative experiences with?
WOD.

TL;DR: I don't mind Ares' way of constructing scenes.
I prefer them because of my limited hours. Most of my RP takes multiple days to complete because I don't sit down to RP until 7 or 8pm most nights and I start feeling zzzzzzz between 9 and 10pm. That's a pretty narrow window to play!
And it solves the US/EU problem for me! I have two scenes going with two US based players who, without this, it would be brief or only via a document or something...
And if you don't want someone dropping in going 'ugh why has no one posed in 12 hours, geez' well.... it's gotta be private.
We tend to leave it public, open to others joining but our player base is small enough to know who is busy or not, and we tend to leave "good night" oocs in there...
I think the bigger Ares games are much more flexible for folks. Like Grey Harbor!
I'll cheerfully plug Discworld here! Small and we're keen to involve everyone at this point!

RE: RL Anger
Trump: The only thing that can make me agree with Jeremy C^Hunt. Do you know how painful that is? He is a weasel who is breaking apart a health service I love and shitting on my day to day job. And now I have to agree with him because of the Wotsit Coloured President.
