@hedgehog Oy. I'm wishing you a thorough recovery. I experienced my first attack of gall stones the other night, which boggles me 'cos I've never been one to eat fried or fatty foods. I'm hoping I won't need it removed, but it's standard operating procedure (no pun intended) for it to be removed if there is any sign of infection.

I guess a counter argument could be this: If you're gonna get rid of the Elders, why not just make it a Lords of Gossamer and Shadow game? (I have not played this game. I have not read anything beyond the free stuff that's posted. It pretty much seems like the Amber theme with a bunch of stuff renamed.)

Also, I'm something of a purist, so the idea of an Elder being bested in their area of expertise by a non-Elder makes me twitch. When people whine about how much it sucks that they can't skewer Benedict, or bench press more than Gérard, or regenerate their eyeballs more quickly than Corwin, or out magic mojo Fiona or Brand, I feel zero sympathy.

Oberon didn't simply run roughshod over the noble Houses or the Golden Kingdoms or even Rebma. Those people still needed to be appeased for one reason or another, and I'm pretty damn sure those reasons had nothing to do with direct one-on-one challenges.

@auspice I have no advice, and I find words of encouragement and suggestions for action never help me when I am stuck where it sounds you are.

I hope someone else in the community is in a position to help you find options that you can implement to get some relief.

I'm still gonna leave this gift-wrapped hug, here, in case you might want to wear it for a while, right next to this jar of best wishes.

My main complaint is that I feel the lore could be better organized. I often need to go to several different web pages to cobble together info, and then discover that there's info not yet posted at all. As an example, I love the Easter eggs in the different rooms, but I'd appreciate a repository of that stuff because, some of it, I feel like my character would IC know, and it's bothersome to discover those tidbits pretty much by OOC accident.

I know it's a work-in-progress, and that Staff are doing their best to finish the files, but it is somewhat disorienting to feel so clueless. It's particularly frustrating when the content has been decided by Staff, but hasn't been properly written up thus isn't posted. If I'm not around to hear about it on a channel, odds are I'm gonna remain ignorant about it. (Again, I understand times constraints and it being Alpha, and I know Staff are working hard, and it's appreciated, but I'd feel remiss to not make mention.)

ETA: I'd also really appreciate some primers for coded systems. Examples of what make a good +support request would be incredible helpful. I feel at a loss for appropriate phrasing.

@quinn If you wanted Staff to specifically run something for you, yeah. Unsurprisingly, there were the usual accusations that the rule didn't apply to players who were friends of Staff or who were Staff.

If I recall correctly, you also had to pay XP if you wanted a large purchase, such as your own capital ship or space station.

You definitely had to pay a huge amount of XP if you wanted to have something named after you, like a maneuver known throughout the galaxy. For whatever reason, that tidbit is embedded in my memory.
