That you took the time to drag MSB drama to r/mud and then pretend like you weren't stirring the pot is incredibly telling as to how much you actually value a positive community.

RE: Something Completely Different
@misadventure @hobos ah, I misunderstood - given the phrasing and context, I assumed you meant to equate bigotry with mental illness (which has been happening a lot lately). My bad!

There's a difference between calling someone a misogynist (or, I've actually seen people calling someone an abuser and stalker)... and pointing out that someone has some ingrained misogyny in their thought patterns and attitudes. It's like calling someone a racist, or pointing out that someone has some elements of racist behavior that they should watch out for. We all suffer from social maladies but hopefully we're aware of them and trying to counteract them. Someone who commits microaggressions against the Hispanic person in her office isn't a racist, but she does have some elements of racist behavior that she would be better off paying attention to. Someone who says that women shouldn't walk in dark alleys at night isn't a misogynist, but should probably pay attention to the fact that they're indulging in some really painful victim blaming..
Bigotry isn't a "social malady", and equivocating it with such is kind of a crummy thing to do.

@Seraphim73 Technically I still have it up. We still need to play test the system. That all said, if there's interest, it's something we could look at again...I never finished coding the combat system though.
I'd give a Codex Alera game a try, I think. It's an interesting setting.

Any thoughts on a game set in Alera?
I really, REALLY liked the Codex Alera, and I think it could be an interesting setting, but I think the world might be a tad too mysterious still to utilize as a long term game.

RE: Do you ever include non-Mu events into your games?
When I was first really playing Haven I had a character that was going to run a game of Numenera. And he was actually going to RUN A REAL GAME, because at the time there was dice rolling code. I even made up ascii art based character sheets. But RL got in the way, and I lost like 90% of the pre-made character sheets I'd made, so I gave up.

RE: MU Things I Love

Fucking hate Christmas.
It's a shitty holiday and everything about it is dumb. So is Hanukkah, which just had to fall obnoxiously right on the 24th to the 1st of January this year. (Jewish calendar is variable, and it usually ends up being significantly earlier in the year, sometimes even occurring in late November.)
I hate both of these things! I'm a shameless grinch, and this year I got stuck totally alone for it, not even with other grinches to grouch with in person, because a family member inexplicably died of cancer halfway across the globe (seriously selfish of them, amirite) and my closest mates, who didn't go to that funeral abroad, decided to go on a holiday tour of a whole bunch of countries in the southern part of Africa instead.
So I'm sitting at my laptop indoors, brooding, thinking of how much I hate this time of year, because everything outside is closed so I can't even go have fun somewhere and meet new people. But, thanks to this hobby, there are people who are online at the same time, elsewhere around the globe, who are just as miserable and alone as I am right now and want to have some fun.
Cue a string of amazing and awesome stories throughout the last two days, from adrenaline-pumping, conflict-ridden action-adventure excitement to, you know ... eyebrow waggle. And I had fun.
Now I know this sounds sad as fuck, but while I may not be able to have an enjoyable holiday season, at least my pretendy-fun-time character can. And it's times like this that when I occasionally step back from the hobby or cut it loose for a spell, I remember why it's a good hobby to have available now and then.
People look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them I hate Christmas. I didn't spend it mudding tho. I spent it recovering from wine, and then being trapped by a cat on a couch.

RE: The guy who coded Kishi Kaisei MUX [L5R]
@Ganymede That sounds amazing. L5R is one of my favorite settings. No one in my area is ever interested in playing, however.

This is a campaign I ran on Roll 20 for a while, so I've got the core theme and setting down pretty good. There's going to be a ton of data entry but what I'll need help with the most is actually /running/ the game and stories for the players once I finish the code and get things done.
Building help would be awesome as well of course. I Essentially have to dig and desc 3 grids.
I'm stoked about the support, helps a lot.
Yeh, I could help with that stuff. I'll need to get up to scratch on the Fate system again, it's been a minute. But I could give it a whirl.

RE: Big Trouble in Little China
Holy crap. I'm excited for this. These are literally two of my favorite things. I'd be super, SUPER up for playing the game, for sure. I'm not sure how much I could help? I have zero experience with coding (and pretty much no interest in learning, tbh). But I can probably write some room descs, or do something like Storytelling if there's a need for that (urban fantasy is my jam).

RE: Welcome to Fallen World MUX!
@skew Yeh, I used to be pretty familiar with 1E. I'll check out the guides! I'd just like to actually read through the book, especially regarding Lore. Thanks for the heads up!

RE: Welcome to Fallen World MUX!
I'm fairly interested in this game. I'm just not very up to date with White Wolf stuff, so I need to sit down and read through Mage.

RE: Would a meta-shadowrun game be fun?
This sounds super interesting. I like the fact that it'd be a more social based conflict, versus direct. Direct, brute force combat just seems really bleh to me lately. So, I'd probably be all for getting involved in a game like this.

RE: [Interest Check] Original vampire-based supernatural MU*
While I'm not a big fan of Greco-Roman heavy settings, this sounds fairly interesting. I'm especially excited to see more about the different powersets and how those are handled, and the Lorekeeper Clan is SUPER cool sounding.

RE: Something similar to WoD, but not quite
@Ide said in Something similar to WoD, but not quite:
Seriously? I have no idea who or what the Blackstaff is, but what have they been doing the last two years? Playing cribbage?
Not sure of the exact context of Blackstaff in the announcement, but if it's the Blackstaff from the Dresden Files books, basically it means that there's PC Wizards that are running around able to smash in the face of arguably the strongest mortal wizard in the Dresden Files series. Blackstaff is a title given to a secret assassin type position for the council of wizards, and is usually given to someone excellent with the smashy magic.
I'm actually super disappointed in that change. I was looking at Dark Spires a while back, and seeing such a drastic change definitely puts me off ever even considering trying the game again. I love the Dresden Files, but I don't think it translates super well to a MU with a half decent population size, given the scale of power in that setting. Not unless you place hard caps, or have PCs dying regularly.
