I don't think random players come to MSB to look for advertisements for a new game.

They do, though. There are many many lurkers who use MSB to stay current on new games.

I tend to see IC obstacles and quandaries and setbacks as a way to create RP and break characters out of a rut and develop them more, and I used to be really accommodating of bad consequences, but I found that being too accommodating tends to attract creeps (including staff creeps, this got really bad on the last WoD game that I did not run, and was part of why I bailed). So that might be why some people shy away from that kind of thing.

@arkandel I'm not sure if I'm reliable enough to offer. :< I'm only semi-active on horrormux at this point.

I'm just really picky about pasta. If it's not the real thing, and al dente, I don't see the point. It's not what I want, it's not the same, and thus it's not pleasurable. And since I won't eat anything that's not something I really enjoy (since everything I eat fucks with my blood sugar, which post-chemo refuses to not be dumb no matter how much insulin I inject, I need to give myself a reason to eat), spaghetti squash has no place in my life. ❤

@paris We went to a Spanish tapas place that had a sort of brown sugar baked spaghetti squash thing that was fantastic.

I haven't gotten even close to it at home, so sweet potatoes it is.

I think treatment like that is ok, because it's not pretending that the squash is pasta, especially when it's properly baked. Which is a pain to do with spaghetti squash. 🙂

@paris "owner locked" means the advertiser can add to it, if I'm understanding correctly.

I'd feel better about that if that's possible, but I'd be sad at losing the opportunity to Q&A.

@misadventure It just seems unnecessary to me, for the reasons I have previously posted, one of which is being able to keep an ad thread current so folks know it's still active and being updated.

@roz Correct. Which I found was pretty helpful and convenient for everyone, so losing that would suck.

@gangofdolls Spaghetti squash is your friend.

Spaghetti squash is a lie. A watery, mushy, stringy lie.

@misadventure TBH, games come and go with enough frequency that I would consider anything on the second or third page to be questionable. Really what would be most convenient is locking ad threads to the person who made it, but then again sometimes it's helpful to have your staff update when something's happened to you.

So I'm against locking ad threads to one post. As both from a staffer and from a player perspective, and just to my own preference, I find that too strict a solution.

      @tinuviel

If the updates are important enough, they can post a new ad.

That's unnecessary clutter and micromanagement when you can just post an update to an existing ad thread. Direct criticism to separate threads, and have admins clean threads or split threads as necessary.

Locking the thread to one post means, AFAIK, that it'll just fall down the page. If there are any important updates, infos, etc, not being able to follow-up post is inconvenient.

@gangofdolls I have to keep a really tight rein on carbs (because of my diabetes), or else I get extreme binge cravings, and there's enough flour even in sugar-free stuff that it's just better to keep it out of the house. ❤

I'd prefer to keep it separate. You can do a search on topics, so it's not difficult to look for threads calling out bad behavior, either in constructive or in the Hog Pit.

This is reinforced by my personal experiences of my own game threads being trolled with false accusations and just constant bitching about systems (sometimes for pages) that we'd implemented by people who did not even play the game, attempts to derail conversations, and so on, and it was all allowed to stand. People's own shittiness is why this rule got implemented, and while I don't run or staff anywhere now, I don't feel like seeing it come back.

    • RE: Spirit Lake - Discussion

I would personally suggest making a separate thread. There have been a fair amount of ad threads that were derailed by bitching and trolling and griping that could have been better put elsewhere, when you can just make a topic about the game in the very same forum as long as it's not too slaggy.

I usually use Stevia for tea, sucralose for everything else. I don't bake. Both as liquid. Thank you both for the infos. :3

I might look into monkfruit. Xylitol won't happen because I have pets. I already get erythritol in some of the stevia sweeteners I use, how do you use swerve and monkfruit?

If you're not working in an environment where you can't have body mods, I don't see why it's such a big deal. Most folks are just getting a few piercings and/or their ears stretched.
