    • Power Rangers: Power of the Grid

So some months ago I gauged interest in a PR/KR MU. I've been idle, but I'm on a kick again. So here's the pitch for basic setting. I'm ... probably going to start writing a theme this weekend.

      What is wrong with me?

      Lord Drakkon is dead.

Defeated by his younger self, the wicked Ranger troubles the earth no more. His machinations have, however, caused untold changes. The merging of timelines, of alternate universes, has not been undone upon his defeat. The earth, This Earth, and the stars beyond are now home to many teams of Rangers to protect it. A side effect has also caused other individuals, who call themselves Riders, to manifest powers of their own.

Also on the Earth and in the Stars are all of the Rangers' enemies. The Machine Empire. Zedd. More and legion. Darkness swells, and only the Rangers and their allies can rise up to face these threats. A wise man once said these words that echo through the Grid.

      It's Morphin' Time!

      No, I'm Lilith.

      No, I'm Jenny.

      ...

Well there goes 30 years of careful cultivation.

I didn't want to. My hand was forced.

      No, this is Patrick.

Yeah, so I read this whole thread. This shit is my drug. I cut my RP teeth twenty-odd years ago in Wheel of Time chatrooms on AOL. I am guaranteed to play on this thing and would be happy to help as I can. I'll probably just idle on the server forever until people show up.

    • RE: Whatever Happened To Star Wars MU*s?

Reading all these reasons for shit pisses me off. Because people should be allowed to play what they want. God, it's like, I don't know. There's a time period where people can play whatever they want. It's called a buttload of thousands of years BBY. You can have all the jedi and sith you want. You can have all the wacky force traditions. You can have smugglers and nobles and dudes who do cool ass pilot shit.

Enforced rarity can eat my ENTIRE asshole.

@Auspice Looking through Ares stuff, I'm probably going to use it. I may just skip a combat code entirely, even though I love my crunchy bits. For what I want in a code, it'd have to be built from the ground up, anyway. (multiple modes, separate giant robot stuff). It may just be easier to roll without one and then if I can ensla--convince someone to make something, go from there.

    • RE: Final Fantasy

I've been playing FFXIV since 3.5, so 3 full xpacs ago. I cannot tell you how good the story is once it gets rolling. I have cried. A lot. There's also a lot of casual friendly stuff to do, minigames and sidequests and all that. Just be prepared. Glamour is the true endgame. You will get addicted.

I am going to be writing theme files and that kind of thing this weekend. I'm pretty much using Boom! Comics with some kamen rider stuff because I am a fanboy. I will say that OC ranger teams and Riders and villains will be a thing because I am too old to give a shit about almost anything but rule of cool as long as it fits the setting.

IIRC this mostly happened to me on WoD games and on Superhero MUs.

I'm only recently getting into cape games. They are SO HORNY, holy shit.

    • RE: Wheel of Time MU*

The AoL comments are completely fair. I think post Last Battle is fucking ripe for all kinds of shit. What do the Aes Sedai and Asha'man get up to now that Saidin is cleansed? What do the nobles of the world do? How do the everyday people get by now that everything is still in upheaval?

I'd play the shit out of this.

Ahem. Age. Of. Legends. Or post books. That way cool powers aren't gender locked, there's barely any information so you can literally do what you want. It just depends if you want to lean science fantasy or standard fantasy.

    • RE: Dare I ask...

I don't play any WoD games right now, but as a player, I do not like required justifications. If I wanted to do pretendy fun time homework, I'd go play EVE and do spreadsheets for hours. To me, XP, and the progression it's used for, are player rewards, not character rewards.

You want me to grind my face off in RP to get that status or (oWoD) reknown? Fuck yes, I will meat grinder it. You want me to justify buying a dot in a skill? I'll just never spend xp and sit on it forever rather than having to do homework.

My point being: You want me to put in the work quote-unquote, I will hit those scenes and roleplay all of the goddamn strife and consequences there would ever be. I will not write an essay to spend my, the player's, reward for that roleplay.

@sunny For clarity, I'm not talking about people that are scared of getting vaccinations due to previous trauma or last history. I'm not talking about them.

What the fuck? That's a thing? Vaccine trauma? Fucking how the hell does that work? Not trying to discount experiences, but this literally makes no sense to me. It's like an alien language.

If you're into stories about shitty people being shitty: Behind the Bastards
If you're into current events and misery: More News and also Worst Year Ever

Those three have a lot of overlap in hosts, but Robert Evans is a fantastic journalist and funny dude.

Right wingers need not apply, because I don't want to hear how these things pissed you off. Not that I care, cause righties are pieces of shit, but,

    • RE: How are you coping with COVID (and other 2020 fun)?

There's not much to cope. I live in a shitty state with a shitty governor who never closed anything, and even if she did, by dint of gigantic technicality, my work is deemed essential. (I work in utility safety. Because utilities are essential, and my job is to certify their gear, ergo I am essential.)

I mean, at least I still have my job and can pay my bills. I do miss my LARPs and meeting for tabletop bullshit in person. Zoom isn't the same.
