RE: Overwatch, anyone?
Was playing Challenge by myself today, and there were guys on my team on voice chat mentioning that they never ran into random female players on the game, even though apparently the playerbase is 40-something percent female. And someone wondered if they just didn't talk because of harassment. They were saying how that sucked, so I totally BLEW THEIR MINDS when I turned my mic on and went, "Yeah, that's pretty much why we tend to stay quiet." Two guys on the written chat were like FIRST GIRL I'VE EVER TEAMED WITH. Which probably isn't true, they just didn't know it, but they were decent folks.
I actually imagine most women spend more time grouping up with other women to avoid the whole issue. I have a bunch of friends -- a lot from MU*s -- that I group regularly with, and sometimes we'll invite randoms who we play with and are good players and nice on chat, and it's kind of hilarious when there's a moment where the guy comes into our Discord and is like, "Oh wow, girls."

RE: RL things I love
@Bobotron said in RL things I love:
Wonder Woman in WW2
This one I like better. Much better. Also, yay Etta Candy!
It's actually WWI, not WWII.

RE: RL things I love
@Bobotron maybe before i read the synopsis of the play

RE: Pokemon Go
@Autumn My reasons for picking Instinct were twofold:
- I liked that it was the underdog team.
- I too would rather wing things and figure I'll win BY INSTINCT than through hard work.

You can't take a road trip in Pennsylvania. PennDOT has all the roads under construction.

RE: RL Anger
Shattered my phone screen for the first time ever. Pretty good for over a decade of cell phone ownership and something like seven years of smart phone ownership, but still.

RE: Making a MU* of your own
Lemme tell you, if someone is in love with a concept that just won't work on a game I run, it'd be way preferable for the player to just peace out (if it's really all they want to play). Life would be so much simpler if more people were just like, "Oh, probably not the game for me, have fun with it." I would rather people leave when they're told "no" if it's that important to them.

RE: Pokemon Go
Took a train up to New England to cover an event for work today. Got out of the train station a little after 11 in this quaint little city and found a whole bunch of people hanging out in the little park next to the station clearly playing Pokemon Go. Kind of amazing.

@VulgarKitten My office is on top of a PokeStop and someone put a lure module in it. It was very nice.

RE: Overwatch, anyone?
Today @Tez and I gathered a group through several random matchups that just kept doing matches with teams of all one character. All Tracer, all Pharah, all 76, all Torbjorn.
It was amazing. We lost most of them, but holy shit we laughed a ton.

RE: RL Anger
Jesus Christ I'm stressed and ashamed and terrified because court and I'm supposed to be an adult.
Show them your MSB account, that should settle any issues of shame or misconceptions about your adulthood.
UNFORTUNATELY I didn't read this until after I'd already been to court. Obviously this would have gotten the whole case thrown out!
As it turns out, the only thing left that we owe is my roommate's half of the July rent -- WHICH I DIDN'T KNOW THEY HADN'T PAID HAH HAH THIS IS GREAT -- but we settled to pay it up by the end of July and everything will be set. But getting an actual breakdown of the rent payments made me realize that there were definitely times my roommate was scraping by -- paying their half of the rent in smaller installments, then bigger chunks -- and just didn't tell me. I can't cover for them for everything, but god you have to tell me. I'm on the lease, too! I am liable! I would like to rent another apartment someday!

RE: RL Anger
@Ganymede Yeah, I have the letter from my bank saying that the checks were cleared and deposited. Which is why I know I'm not getting evicted or anything like that. I'm just still terrified. I've never been to court, and it's not even my own fault, I'm just liable and cleaning up my roommate's mess.

RE: RL Anger
Aaaaaaaaaaaand going to court tomorrow over this rent thing. Because I got the summons or whatever to answer the thing or else get a default judgment, and it was the Friday before the holiday weekend and my check was still in transit so I went in to be safe, and now I guess even though they have all of the rent owed we can't not do the hearing or whatever at court. In my head, I know it's going to be okay, because they literally have all the money, but Jesus Christ I'm stressed and ashamed and terrified because court and I'm supposed to be an adult.

RE: Outside the Box GMing
@Arkandel The funny thing is that our sort of base theme is certainly limited in some ways. We don't have crazy comics-level powersets cause we're more in the movieverse vein, stuff like that. You can be super creative with mutants, though, and introducing this recurring element with AUs lets us do some stuff we couldn't otherwise do on a temporary basis. I'm pretty excited about bringing it into play more.

RE: Outside the Box GMing
@Pyrephox Awesome. I'm not on WoD, but there's sooooooo much you can do with mutants and alternate universes. (We're movieverse street-level, but we just did a huge cosmic comics-level type of plot in an AU.)
-
RE: Outside the Box GMing
@Pyrephox Oh man that sounds super cool and like something I totally want to steal.
I did a plot once back on the now-closed X-Men Movieverse using a mutant who basically shut down short term memory retention when people were around him. In short, people would just lose time completely when they were around him, and no one was able to really remember him apart from people who knew him before he manifested. So that was kind of fun GMing because I could be like "and now you're suddenly on the other side of the room and don't really know why!"

RE: Outside the Box GMing
@ThatGuyThere Oooh, that does sound like it'd be cool but also really hard to coordinate to make happen.
