    • RE: Character likeness

1 and 3. I like pictures. It's so much easier for me, instead of trying to painstakingly describe the curve of someone's nose, to just toss up an image and say "She looks like this."

    • RE: For anyone who might be struggling with the hallmark holiday too

I had a really good relationship with my mom. Yeah we fought but in general, compared to what a lot of people have to deal with...I had it really really good.

She has severe vascular dementia now. I’m on my way to see her. She will know it’s Mother’s Day when I tell her. She will forget before I leave. The woman who raised me isn’t dead, but she is gone and she’s not coming back. I’m still lucky...she still knows who I am and she loves me but it’s still hard to come to grips with.

    • RE: Crafting Thread Part ?

@sixregrets brand name Perler are good and reliable. Some other brands are fine but what you definitely don’t want to do is mix brands because they will melt inconsistently. It can take a few tries to get the hang of the ironing, especially the edges, but you can usually go back and fix mistakes. Ironing only takes a few seconds. I usually iron hard on one side (melt a lot) and then flip the piece over and do that side a little less aggressively. They cool and are done in a couple of minutes after ironing.

    • RE: Random "this might be useful" stuff

Costco can sometimes cover pet medications. We used to get our dog’s anti seizure meds there and it was like $25 there vs. $150 from a vet.

    • RE: How are you coping with COVID (and other 2020 fun)?

Just found out my family's been exposed to COVID because my BIL guilted my husband into attending a Christmas gathering after we missed Thanksgiving (to prevent this EXACT THING from happening). About to fucking murder some people.

    • RE: A Regency MU (Conceptual)

@pyrephox Building on this a little bit, upper class women in the Regency period gambled too, and some ran gambling establishments out of their homes. It was socially acceptable so long as they paid their debts. So that could be something fun for the ladies.

@cobaltasaurus Yes, huskies and most of the spitz-type breeds have curly tails.

I missed a scene today because:

      a) I couldn't remember whether or not I had canceled my RSVP because I didn't actually think I'd feel like RPing after all but I thought I might keep the spot just in case I somehow did.
      b) I got the time COMPLETELY wrong and,
      c) I unexpectedly had to go get a COVID test.

And if that's not muing for me in a nutshell right now I don't know what is.

After a long day of trying to be productive in my career and also trying to teach first grade to a first grader (after having made a conscious decision earlier in life to never ever be a teacher) and also trying to be a passable mom to said first grader, I:

      Knit a lot
      Listen to podcasts a lot

Sadly, RP has become a chore.

Reading about how boring chaacters that never bat an eyelash are, thinking about how much fun it is to freak the fuck out ICly and how you haven't gotten a chance to do that in a while, and then getting to do that.
