Congratulations on your choice to get married. Be advised that your wedding day will be the subject of the complaints of the ignorant and the jealous. I can say that, without equivocation, no one who attended my wedding who complained remain in my life, so I look at the event as a tremendously successful weeding-out test.

One could almost say ... “wedding-out”.

Dude, you use cat gifs. If you can't accept "noon is whenever I say it is" then you're not really a cat person.

This Just In: Yup, by "Non-changeling", they mean every non-changeling, as the story permits.

Mind you, now I'm embroiled in a discussion about the nature of merits for NPCs. It's...tense, for which I'm surprised.

To be fair, if my partner asked me to help with housework at 0300, I would probably strangle her.

Some of us call that “noon”.

Sin Eaters are not dead things.

Having peeked at the Geist 2e rules, they are now very specifically not alive.

      Dropping teasers, here.

When it comes to player arbitration, tho, it's just as much about the complaint as the rules. It's not irony for me to say that it's a lot harder to come up with a good answer if anyone is being a dick about it, and getting a second opinion is critical.

Also, take responsibility for your actions. Make it clear that it's your decision. The buck stops in your lap; own it.

I think the shittiest thing I had to deal with when Headstaff on Reach was when two staffers were using their staff position to help solidify their positions in a...I want to say family faction? They laughed it off until I got directly involved.

Maybe worse was letting the Changeling admin act as sphere lead though we specifically forbade her from becoming sphere lead. Not finding a solution was us tacitly saying "yes, she is sphere lead". I didn't think she should have even been an admin, but such the mistakes we can make when balancing the needs of the sphere to have even a shitty staffer getting things done, vs. nothing getting done.

When I was a young Goldfish and The Reach's Geist Lead (lolololololololololol) - It fell to me to arbitrate if a player got pregnant or not. It was an awful, awful, icky thing. But Theno helped me. My memory's terrible but I do remember his even-handedness in figuring it out.

Did I? I remember the situation, but not the outcome. Through the fog in my memory I want to say my overall reaction was, "How the hell should I know?" Being one step removed from the drama always helps.

Changeling has two merits with the prerequisite of “Non-changeling”. I’m hoping to get an official answer if this is to be read as literally as it looks, or if it’s a missed item from their messy development cycle.

I can see it going either way, tho one has the storytelling requirement of having spent time in the Hedge. News at 11.

If you're an experienced coder and don't mind doing a bit of extra work porting stuff, consider going with Rhost instead.[...]
For anything else, I recommend PennMUSH, simply because this is the platform with the most available code,

If it can run on Penn, it can run on Rhost (mostly sure), and I would bet you a dollar that anyone running an Rhost game is willing to share their code.

Same can be said for Mux and Penn, but code availability should not stop you from running Rhost. Ashen will almost always write in a feature or a switch because you ask for it, and often within minutes.

I am pretty sure that Rhost is by far the most inclusive, the biggest amalgam of other Mushlikes in one codebase.

I tried that once with @EmmahSue. We died a lot. It was hilarious.

Plus, the bartender is voiced by Jack McBrayer!

Yeah, well, RoosterTeeth is making an animated show with actors such as David Tennant, but that doesn't mean it'll be any good.

That their YouTube advert doesn't even have any of their characters talking has me worried.

    • RE: EPIC vs Steam

      Update:

So Epic isn't as slow as I remember, but it's more about the appearance and the 'Web 3.0' design, and less about being informative. I clicked on a few games and except for there being a lot of pretty pictures and videos, and short on information.

I get more information about games from what people post here. That's how short of information they are.

Looking at "Hades", this is what I know:

      • It's early access.
      • It's a "rogue-like dungeon crawler" by Supergiant.

Mmmmyup, that's it. Epic Games' launcher feels like a major company taking a massive loss in attempt to woo major studios, and that reminds me of Walmart's attitude toward...well, everything that isn't Walmart.

So an early-access launch platform with some executive's bonus on the line (ha ha no executive ever has THEIR bonus on the line) tarting it up with the ol' Style Without Substance rule.

I'm not really down on it, I just don't see anything to be excited about.

      Straightforward:

      • Adding Clarity's Perception bonuses into the main sheet. (Done.)
      • Kenning on the sheet. (Done.)
      • Goblin Debt has me giggling in glee. Sure, use "Truth & Lies" a million times. I dare you.

      Not Straightforward:

      • The interaction of Clarity, Icons, and Touchstones will be challenging.
      • There are more Conditions, and Fae-Touched start with some. That'll be interesting to integrate.
      • Still deciding the best way to do Contracts in this system. The easy way for me is more involved for the player. Not much, but not entirely natural.

      Bbbllleeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...fun.

That's unfair. If Penn changed the original SGP -- written for TinyMUSH and migrated straight to TinyMUX -- you can't blame the foundation for it.

Maybe because I'm used to using the ChimeMUX fork, that I thought aJobs was part of the base.

TinyMUX has problems, but "SGP isn't consistent" is not one of them. You might as well blame it for having a different columns() than Rhost.

(edit: link to Chime's frankly amazing fork.)

So... anyone going to be playing Anthem in the open demo this weekend?

Eh. Maybe? What system is it on?

(Do not play with keyboard and mouse on PC, though. The kb+m controls are garbage, while it is a complete joy with a controller.)

Then probably not. I've yet to find a controller that I don't immediately feel like I'm trying to get carpal tunnel syndrome. I probably need to not hold on as tight, but the location of All The Buttons(tm) just doesn't jive with my old-school turkey.

Then again, knowing they abandoned Mass Effect for...this will absolutely color my perception.
